Mikasa rolled off of him and onto the bed, letting the springs of the mattress cushion her fall. Still breathing heavily, she wiped away some beads of sweat that had formed on her forehead. God, he didn’t look like it, but Levi was an absolute animal in the sheets. She was tender all over, imprinted from every grasp and every bite.

“Thanks,” Levi grunted from beside her.

“Don’t mention it,” responded MIkasa.

“I can’t tell if you mean that figuratively… or literally.”

“Me neither.”

Silence.

This feels familiar.

Back in CH30, Levi adamantly believed Eren was dead and didn’t seem too emotional or eager to attempt a rescue, but as soon as he remembered who Mikasa was he changed his tune entirely…

We can see that his expression and attitude changed entirely once he realized one of Mikasa’s friends was at stake.

In CH83, Levi is once again put in the position to save Mikasa’s friend, but the objective isn’t as clear as “save Mikasa’s friend” because his own friend is on the line too. I wonder if he’ll contradict his above statement and satisfy his own desires, or if he’ll once again put her friend first. 

A few panels before this, Levi’s expression seems to go from upset about Erwin to fierce when Eren became hostile, but again his expression changes to a softer one when he sees how distraught Mikasa is. He seems to have a weak spot for her, or at least a subtle interest in her personal relationships, which is why we see him questioning her relationship with Eren, him correcting himself whenever he says something harsh to Eren or Armin in her presence, him eavesdropping on them, etc. 

It’s hard to interpret this scene, especially without translations, but I do think he will end up picking Armin in the end. Of course, this is a difficult decision so it might take him a while to settle on that conclusion, though, so this confrontation between him and Mikasa might lead to Ackertalk. -crosses fingers-

When Levi saw the flash of lightning that signaled the transformation of a Titan, the Female Titan to be exact, his lips pursed. His hand reached out to his bad leg; he should be there, if it wasn’t for this blasted leg!

But when he saw a small flash of red soar through the air, his eyebrow raised slightly. Ah, Eren’s beloved, he snorted slightly. 

Then he saw it.

When he saw her blades being held like his, Levi’s mouth twitched slightly. They flashed with the same dangerous glint as his, moving at almost the same impossible speed

When he saw her twirl expertly like a gymnast in the air, his mouth curved into a full on smirk. It was like looking into a mirror. Every movement she made reflecting off his. Levi took slight note at the fact that she’d only seen him fight once.

Copycat.

|| Headcannon that Mikasa held her blades like Levi when fighting Annie. This is actually true (there are panels in the manga where she does indeed hold her blades like Levi), but I’m not sure whether she did when she fought against the Female Titan. ||

Hi Anon! It’s a bit short, but I didn’t want to let this sit for too long. It’s a modern au setting.

Mikasa sighed, frowning as she ran her finger’s through Levi’s hair, his undercut grown out. The trimmer buzzed in her palm.

“I don’t see why you need me to do this,” she grumbled at last.

Carefully, she ran the electric trimmer up the base of his skull, and fine, black hairs trickled down his neck and bare back. She repeated the action, then watched as more of his hair gathered on the floor.

“Your mother was a hairdresser,” he replied, as if his comment explained his reasoning.

Mikasa narrowed her eyes at him.

“That doesn’t mean I’m a hairdresser.”

He was silent for a beat. “I didn’t say you were.”

Mikasa rolled her eyes, shaving another line along his head.

“Don’t let it become a habit,” she told him as she finished. “I’m not going to do this every time you need a trim.”

She swiped her hand over both his shoulders, dusting off hairs. He rolled his neck, then looked up at her with a small smirk “Would it help if I left a tip?”

Mikasa snickered as he pulled her closer, his lips slanting over hers.

Levi in love with mikasa but can't do anything about it since she's dating his superior?

His love for her is wrapped in the way he puts her happiness over his own desire to take her.

He whispers it callously, dismissing her for lunch even on days the workload calls for all-hands-on-deck, and there are angry phones blaring with demands, and his own stomach is twisting in excruciating knots.

He sings it off-tune when she gushes about their weekends away filled with heated romance, scorching his ears and deteriorating his self-preservation until he’s a fake smile plastered to a pile of ashes.

He swears it when she’s quietly upset that another case is splashing over her long arranged plans, and she catches the lonely cab from downtown to the suburbs.

He keeps it in as she sits, soggy-eyed with red wine, wondering why the question hasn’t been popped yet because she’s getting up there in years and maybe just maybe she wants children and they’ve been together almost eight years so what’s the hold-up?

So it’s only right that when Erwin breaks Mikasa’s heart, Levi screams it, echoing in his head like a final trumpet call, but lets her slip out of his life like dusk and red scarves.
