          hands drop to his sides, eyes watching her dramatics, arms pulling away defiantly and petulance tainting her soft features. a moue of disappointing downturning finely curved lips, still, his refusal was more than his own disinterest. he moved away, seating himself at his desk, leg crossing over the other as an ankle came to rest on his knee. fingers absentmindedly began to flip a pen between them, “that’s an optimistic way to view it. some time next week, okay?”

       ‘ i need to wait for so long.  .  . liiiighhhhhhhht, i can’t possibly be away from you until next week !! but, if you say so i guess i can accept that- what time then, like monday or do you mean at the end ? ’ her eyes beg him for a favorable answer, hands pressing together as if in prayer.

         honey eyes watched her theatrics, putting on poses and voices as if this were one of her auditions. certainly, she would have gotten the part had she been performing for anyone else, unfortunately, light was not so enthralled by the dramatics. surprise faded quickly as she seemed to berate him, he couldn’t quite grasp why the presentation of his admission mattered, she was going to die anyways.

           “my eyes don’t—- is that from a movie?” he had heard it vaguely before now that he thought about it. he had never actively indulged in pop culture, more invested in his studies and now, being so divorced from the concept of humanity, it served him no real purpose. 

       ‘ yes-- at least i think so, i don’t think i ever finished it actually, but that’s really not the point here ! ’ she pouts, arms predictably crossed against her chest as posture changes almost as if she was ignoring him before glancing back. honestly, she was a romantic at heart and to add on the thrill of danger ? misa would swoon for him if she hadn’t many times already. 

‘ but vampire, huh ? you know that’s pretty hot. this is so just like a fairy tale, oh, and don’t worry misa won’t tell, your secret is safe with me. ’ she finishes her statement with a wink and finger perched underneath her chin.

                   IN ALL HONESTY she’s never been terribly fond of the whole gothic subculture. She was an old soul, an extravagant, elegant, and opulent soul. She craved diamonds and pearls, fur coats and stiletto heels. Expensive jewels and perfumes. ALL GLITTER AND GLAM! But for the young lady before her she would accept her fashion sense, for better or for worse. She could appreciate, that Misa could look good in anything. ❛    Is that a new dress!?   ❜

       and she mirrors her excitement splendidly ! misa tilts a bit, posing for j before going into a full twirl ending with her body resting ‘pon the soles of her feet. ‘ wow, you really noticed ?! it totally is, i saw it and it was just too cute not to buy ! ’ she shimmers in the attention given to her, a radiant and shooting star -- for a few moments after before hands lace together with the other woman’s. 

‘ we should go get you something like it. mmmm, maybe in white ! ’

       ‘ that’s not right.  .  . don’t you know you’re not supposed to admit it right away ? like i say something like ‘ you're impossibly fast, and strong. your skin is pale white and ice cold. your eyes change color, and sometimes you speak like-- like you're from a different time. you never eat or drink anything. you don't go out in the sunlight- i know what you are ! ’ and- ’ suddenly she switches positions, making her voice deeper. 

‘ then like a man, with your whole heart you go ‘ say it, out loud. say it misa !! ’ her place switches once more, back to playing her own role. ‘ and i whisper.  .  . ‘ vampire ’ and that i’m not afraid, you see light ? you totally messed this up. ’

          talk of dates again. didn’t she ever get tired? constantly passionate in her attempts, well, she managed to wear him down so it seemed it was an effective tactic. “misa, it’s not that simple,” a thought occurred then, though, she wouldn’t like it much. he could test her limits, watch her write names in her death note and witness how creative she could make a death. observe the power of the shinigami eyes. perhaps a ‘date’ was not so bad at all, they didn’t need to step outside to have one.

          “for now, we can have one here,” a small gesture to the confines of his room, stark and organised and not at all romantic. he imagined it would sate her, she could treat it as a genuine date if she so wished. light, per usual, had his own agenda. 

       ‘ here ? but i’m always coming over to visit you. that’s nothing new !! ’ the pout returns to her lips, this time accompanied by the childish crossing of arms over her chest. there was nothing romantic about that !! still, it does not take long before she relents to his choice, already considering the outfit she would wear for said date in the confines of his room. she’d consider herself lucky this time, musing that he should too since she was such an understanding and benevolent girlfriend. 

‘ i guess.  .  . that can be romantic in it’s own way. homes ARE the places of lovers- you know what they say, it’s where the heart is after all.  ♥ ’

       ‘ a nobody then ? ’ finger rests upon a ruby red lip, tugging thoughtfully before tilting back on her heels. ‘ i mean, i guess, but kira doesn’t talk so easily to even his followers. can you really imagine ? being that stupid and to kill innocents, kira isn’t like that at all-- at least i would think. ’

            a sigh—- as it stood, he would see whomever he pleased regardless of her feelings on the matter. though, it was not as if he bringing a new girl home every night. ( not that any girl made it that far. ) two or three to keep up the appearance of meaningless flirtations for when misa’s petite hands clasp around his. he was under a rather scrutinising gaze, to allow the impression that misa was anything particular to him would be dangerous. and truly, romantically, she was not but her eyes, her death note were valuable to him. it was curious, would her eyes still see what the shinigami saw if they were taken from her? 

           morbid interests aside, he could do without those other two, they were growing to be more than they were worth anyways, “fine but takada thinks we’re serious, she stays.”

       ‘ yay ! then we can also go on a date right ? ’ ( not a part of the deal, but really she couldn’t care less absolutely. ) ‘ just to seal the deal ? come on light, it’s been so long, so please~ ’ constantly pushing her luck was the best way to label her personality, noting this takada woman as nothing in particular even if he was so keen on defending her usefulness. 

( ah well, there’d come a day where she would be nothing too ! ) misa smiles, complete radiance coming off her in waves as hand laces with his and swings it for a moment, decidedly ignorant as always to his less than enthusiastic mood.

         he couldn’t imagine what must go through her mind to concern herself with such little things. after all, he had made his intentions ( and his interests ) clear from the beginning. regardless, now was hardly the time to argue, this was the sort of thing she was rather stubborn about. hands come to rest upon her shoulders, deceptively gentle and with honeyed words—-

           “she’s nothing to me, you should know none of them compare to you.”

       ‘ mmmm- but that’s what you always say ! a woman has instincts you know.  .  . ’ she finishes the last part quietly, because while he wasn’t wrong in the slightest, even she felt a degree of threat from them. however, as always his mere touch has the power to soothe her, misa’s hands folding at her front and fingers twiddling as words come more fluently than before.

‘ i know you have to make it seem normal, but why so many ? can’t you please, please take the number down just a bit ? ’

          “ i am that old, however, i do not actually look much older than you,” it would most certainly be a problem for his vanity if he did. what did she mean his age was obvious and what sort of books was she reading that implied shinigami were to be grotesque?

       immediately her hands lock behind her back, misa tilting back and forth upon the heels of her shoes then landing on her toes over and over.

‘ if you say so, but i’ve seen men like you and they’re usually 30, at least, with how it is nowadays. anyway, let me show you what i mean. ’ and she goes rummaging in her bag, trying to hunt out what it was she wanted before proudly presenting to him a page depicting a particularly ghoulish looking thing.

‘ see, god of death. ’

       ‘ just what do you mean, ‘huh’ ?! i asked who that girl is to you, light !! ’ painted lips scrunch into a pout, her hands balled up into fists-- sure, sure they had to remain inconspicuous but it still just wasn’t fair !
