Nasu no Yoichi was a samurai famous for his actions at the Battle of Yashima in 1184. The invading enemy placed a fan atop a pole on one of their ships, daring the Minamoto warriors to shoot it off. Sitting atop his mount in the waves, his target atop the ship rocking as well, Nasu nevertheless shot it down with only one shot. In Ninjutsu, the very first move is usually a finishing move. With singular focus all efforts are concentrated to make to biggest impact using the least amount of force. . The outcome of victory is often determined before the first movement is made. Ninja are taught to use the least amount of force necessary to achieve victory because the risk should not outweigh the reward. One cannot be so focused on victory that they are willing to risk everything, for what is victory is you destroy your territory in the process. When one is resolved from the beginning, they should be able to hold fast in the midst of false attempts to draw premature movement. These false attempts can be in the form of the opinions of others, bluffs from the enemy, and most importantly self-doubt.
