hi ^ __ ^ this will be where i'll document my foray into digital art. long ago, i'd dream of owning a tablet and learning to draw like my favorite artists on deviantart. i didn't have a drawing tablet or any money for that matter so i'd make do with just a trackpad and a cracked paint tool sai (sorry, dev). i didn't go that far in my skills sadly, and i was never brave or forthcoming enough to ask for a drawing tablet from my parents, so drawing 'for real' forever remained a pipe dream to me.
as recently as a month ago, i downloaded csp on my uni ipad (which i'm borrowing from my sister. lol) and i felt the boundaries of my world sway open like a majestic door blinding me with its light. i've been having a little too fun with it honestly.
i'm not really confident nor am i proud with where my art currently is to just upload it on the internet as is. but i'd still like to publicly show it somewhere, so i decided putting it up on here in long-form posts is the best format for me. one, so i could verbalize the process behind my drawings and what i was thinking behind it. and lastly, so that i'll have somewhere where i can visibly see the track of my progress!
i'm really rusty with my form and coloring, so i'll be laser focusing on those two. i figure i'll be doing studies and cracking open some artbooks i have lying around to see any improvement in the both of them.
here's what i've drawn so far. i've been using the default mechanical brush, a set of custom pencils i downladed (ID: 1740419) and a custom brush for coloring (ID: 1776520) i'm unsure what its properties actually do, but i'll continue experimenting with it until i figure out if i'm any comfortable with using it. tbh i just downloaded all these off the homepage wala i don't even caaareeee enough to look for anything online or take any inspiration of anyone.
one thing i really appreciate about drawing digitally are layers. normally when i sketch i never even bother to clean up any areas i want to fix, so they just wound up looking really distracting with the overlapping lines. with layers, i can sketch on top of the initial sketch on another layer without having to worry about the cleanliness of the paper or taking forever to erase the lines i want to get rid of.
experimenting with the mechanical brush and the custom brush i downloaded with painting. i didn't draw and color all this in one go; it was over a series of days since this is the first actual sketchpage i drew to familiarize myself with csp's ui. i really liked how it turned out, but i feel my coloring process is really sloppy. i used the magic wand to color within the lines of my sketches with a base color, and then on another layer i set it to multiply to draw the creases of namine's dress and shadows. i also used the default blend brush to blend out the harsh edges of the painting brush.
i drew this one really late at night that the next day i slept for total of 11-12 hours.... oopsies. i drew this one using the custom pencil brushes. i really like how it turned out and i think it encapsulates what i wish to draw more of in the future ^__^
that's all for now. until next time <3
