I generally agree, but if a 13+ year old is being an absolute dick and then hiding behind the fact that they are a ~minor~ then they deserve to be treated like a dick. Age doesn’t prevent you from consequences of your actions.

I get that, but that's not what this post is about. This post is specifically about adults going after minors, making them feel unsafe, and trying to get them to leave this site. Which is something I still see a lot of.

That goes for everyone that has reblogged this saying 'ok but some minors are ________'. You're entirely missing the point. This post is to bring attention to the way many adults on tumblr act towards minors just for being minors.

Minors' points in arguments have specifically been said by some adults to not have any validation because of their age. Their complaints have been pushed aside. They've been told to get off this site if they aren't 'mature' enough to handle certain things like being called names or having their own experiences invalidated.

Again, I get what you're trying to say, but that's not what this post is a about.

Yes, of course! That's why Im on anon. I would scream if William stooped that low because I do like him a lot. It's a pain, & I just want to happily ship my William ships in peace w/out being told Im 'disgusting' for not shipping it. Grell's advances unnerve me bc of this one partner I had who I would tell I wasn't comfortable with something, and he'd be like 'no we're supposed to do this' so I felt guilty. Seeing stuff like that makes me believe he would've gone on even if I kept saying no.

This reminds me of that one kuroshitsuji confession that was submitted to a blog once about how ron/will was disrespectful to Yana somehow and you could only ever ship Will with Grell... It’s kinda funny to me because they were so wrong. I see it every so often when I google Will, and it... it makes me laugh a little to be honest.

Asides from that, yeah. These ships can be really uncomfy for those of us who’ve suffered abuse or manipulation, because it feeds straight back into the culture that lets these things happen and makes light of them, along with being a reminder.

Yes and no, since they all refer to her in a somewhat similar way, but I can definitely see where you’re coming from and I understand your apprehension. We can’t say for certain but he may be spiteful enough with her not letting up that he may try and throw that back in her face which... just isn’t cool on any level. But I can hope that he won’t stoop that low, at least.

I favor William as well, and I know why he would be rude because of her advances, but it still doesn't excuse it. I also know the basics of Japanese language structure, but the fact William blatantly ignores her gender is also transphobic, and I just hate Grelliam so much, okay? I've black listed it, but we all know that doesn't always work.. Someone tried so hard to defend it, they told me it was 'Japanese culture and we should respect it.' I just... -implodes-

Technically he ignores everyone’s gender and hasn’t even gendered himself either, I really don’t think it’s a political statement on his part to refer to her as “that officer”, but that’s… just my opinion as someone who is actively studying the language and… speaks semi regularly with lgbt+ native speakers.

I have it blacklisted too, but that really doesn’t stop anything, I know, and sometimes she turns up in his tag in posts that don’t even include him, have you noticed? You can’t google Will without finding this ship. You can’t search him on tumblr with it blacklisted. You can barely interact with the fandom at all without running into it in some form.

And it’s… not… Japanese culture and therefore unquestionable. That’s so gross. Whoever it is is so off base. That’s Japanese pop culture and ties in heavily with the “sexual harassment is funny” trope they have going on there which coincidentally, is in addition to the huge problem they have with sexual harassment and groping on public transport. Is slapstick a comedic element that has played a large role in Japanese humour for years? Yes. Does it mean a relationship is healthy and respectable? Fuck no.

Okay, so I am really against Grelliam (from Kuroshitsuji). It's hella abusive. William purposely misgenders her (any pronouns but she/her is misgendering), he steps on her head, pulls her hair (which she takes great pride in), & is physically abusive towards her. Grell makes advances on William when he visibly shows he's uncomfortable; even when he verbally says 'stop', she doesn't. If that is true love to people, then we have a problem.

Although I wouldn’t call what William does in the original Japanese misgendering as Japanese sentence structure and pronoun use differ greatly to English. It’s less a case of purposeful misgendering and more a case of ‘a gendered pronoun isn’t really necessary here and doesn’t fit this character’s business-focused speech pattern’ with the exception of the one scene from the second musical. That would count as misgendering. It would actually sound strange, I think, to use a lot of gendered pronoun sort terms in Japanese.

I’m personally one to favour William, though he really definitely should not be hitting her, the way he acts feels very… reactionary. As in… she’s the one enforcing their dynamic with her advances. A lot of William’s reason to act so harshly disappears if she behaves, from what I can tell. Though by this point I’m pretty sure he hates her to some degree, so it’s kind of irreversible.

Blame game aside, it’s bad from both sides here and when I first joined the fandom I hadn’t questioned it, so I just… tried to go along with the majority, imagine how it would work… but it doesn’t. The only way it could work would be incredibly unhealthy and abusive and I cannot foresee it ending well.

YES YES YES YES. We are not here for your creepy sexual gratification! We do not exist so you can make porn that relies on disgusting tropes, spreads misinformation about how gay sex works (USE. LUBE. C H R I S T.), and normalises predatory behaviours within the gay community, as if we don’t have a bad enough image in regards to that already. As if people aren’t already saying that gay marriage is a step towards pedophilia being legalised. As if we don’t suffer from the public image it generates, and how dehumanising it is knowing there are groups of people who can only think about gay people as convenient props to get off to and fawn over.

Nearly every single time I see one of these ships, the shippers seem to not care about lesbians and some of them also seem to be downright disgusted by gay women. She gay men are totally okay but lesbain women aren’t? What the fuck is up with that?

And like Tuxedo Sharpe said, these images are harmful to queer people. Even though gay marriage got legalized, we still have a long way too go. This stuff does not help at all.

What really bothers me about shipper is how hypocritical they are. They say we're speaking over CSA victims but they seem to flat out ignore the CSA victims who have spoken out against their ships

Yeah, this is a big problem. It’s like the “my (insert minority) friend said it’s ok to say (offensive thing), so I can!” excuse. We have to be respectful of those who use ships like this to cope, but I also think that they may want to try and understand where we’re coming from too? It may mean there is less content unless it is self-generated, but, really, I have to wonder why it is they find it fine for non-survivors to be fixating on these things. Because they aren’t using it to cope, and… what is it that attracts them to it? Why are these non-survivors interested in fictional child porn and the like? It seems unhealthy, to say the least.

And for the non-survivors, I think they should stop and question what exactly is attracting them to this, and why they feel the need to defend literal child porn. Surely, there is something healthier, that doesn’t contribute to bad societal structures and norms, that they could fixate on instead?

Yeah, I’d say so too. I mean, if someone has pedophilic urges that they genuinely want to address and get past, then I think we should do our best to help them with that, help them stop associating these things with sexual gratification, and be patient with them too. But in the case of unapologetic enactors and enablers, there really isn’t much room for patience and sweetness, you have to be firm. Not over the top, don’t send them hate or death threats or baiting of any sort, and don’t shitpost in their direction, as in don’t be an asshole about it, but be firm. As much so as you can.

I think we do need to listen to them at the same time though, because everyone comes from a different place and might not understand or may find illogical certain forms of argument, and you won’t get anywhere by just pushing and pushing the totally wrong button, if that makes sense?🌹🚔 Tuxedo Sharpe 🚔🌹
