cc!technos deadpan humor is important to his character: cheering!!!!!!! yes!!!!!!!
(describes techno using ableist terms and says he commits mass genocide????) : (scrolls down real fast to see ur rebuttal)
the deadpan humor and levity is a feature, not a bug!
for cc!techno, it's a way of keeping his lore and story light, even when there's angst. that's what he wants to do, he's always said as much, that he doesn't want to go full angst and it's clear he puts a lot of effort into it. and he does it well! the prison arc was one that i could barely handle without an anxiety attack until techno became a part of it.
and for c!techno, all that humor, all that deflection and minimization is a huge part of who he is. one of his very first serious moments in canon, he tells us as much. he's bad at conversation, he's awkward, he's bad at social interactions. people see him as this amazing warrior who can never fail and so he makes jokes and downplays what happens to him and what he does and when that façade does crack, it's either because he's been hurt by someone he considered a friend or a friend is in danger.
i just. it is important! it is!
but not because he's some blood-thirsty, over-powered warrior who is making jokes in the middle of battle because nothing can touch him.
it's important because c!techno is a deeply human, flawed character who gets as scared as anyone else but feels as if he has to hide it.
