An experiment to study Silver the Hedgehog, Blaze the Cat, and their relationship. Here be Silvaze. If you came for a platonic look at this pair, I am sorry lol. My goal is not to argue “actually Silvaze is already canon!!” It is merely to see who they are. So join me in losing my mind over colorful animals.
A character who has outlived their purpose? A case for Silver the Hedgehog
Silver is associated with the theme of hope; we watched him grow into that in Sonic 06. But doesn't Sonic bring hope too? That's two symbols of hope. As the main protagonist of the series, Sonic's not going anywhere.
So... is Silver redundant? What does he bring to the table that Sonic doesn't? What role could he play in future works?
Sonic's Role
Sonic is the main protagonist of the series. Duh. But he's a specific type of protagonist that not every series has: an aspirational one.
Sonic rarely needs character development. In certain media like the Paramount films or Sonic Prime, they try to put him through an arc (with mixed results), but in the games Sonic usually already knows the story's lesson and is often the one to deliver it.
In Sonic Adventure, Sonic already knows that sealing away Chaos again will do nothing to heal his trauma. In Adventure 2, Sonic's mere existence challenges Shadow's outlook and forces him to see the world differently. In Heroes, Sonic already knows about "the real superpower of teamwork." And maybe most famously, in Black Knight, he already knows all good things must end and that's why we must cherish them while we can. Sonic is a character that other characters (and more importantly, the player) can look to as a source of inspiration, comfort, and even hope. We don't relate to Sonic as much as we strive to be like him.
However, Sonic's perspective is limited in its ability to make lasting changes. Sonic believes that the world naturally changes over time. His ability to make the most of everything makes him so resilient that he usually doesn't try to improve the world until it's under attack. He is, more often than not, complacent with the status quo.
For example, Sonic will never truly stop Dr. Eggman from trying to conquer the world because he enjoys their rivalry. He is confident that he can fix any evil Eggman commits. And he's right! But these conflicts will persist as long as Sonic keeps letting Eggman go. And he always will. It's reminiscent of Goku from Dragon Ball, who is not inherently righteous and has an integral "poison" to his character, according to mangaka Akira Toriyama. Sonic's selfishness is similarly crucial to his identity. It's what makes him a force of nature.
Sonic has a really important role. He's so good. I love him. I only point out this lapse to show where Silver can fit in a world where Sonic is already such an effective hero.
Silver's Role
Silver differs in that he is more often a relatable character instead of aspirational. While Sonic has been the moral center of his stories from day one, Silver has had lots of learning to do.
In Sonic 06, Silver must learn to save the world by protecting others and bringing them hope, rather than causing destruction and fighting the truth. And in both Rivals games, Silver must learn to trust others and accept their help. His personality causes problems that must be resolved before he can be a symbol of hope and save the day. We get to watch him learn these lessons, and thus learn them ourselves. We can relate to Silver's trials and growing pains.
Unlike Sonic, Silver has experienced great hardships. He knows what it means to suffer. And this is a big reason why he works so fervently to stop evil — if he can do something to improve the world, why not do it?
However, Silver hasn't seen much development since. It's hard to say if it's because he's actually finished growing or because he just hasn't had the spotlight. He serves as a fun boss in Generations, a skeptical sleuth in Team Sonic Racing, and a cast filler in spin-offs. Forces is the only recent game where Silver had a real chance, but he doesn't do much besides inadvertently getting a Phantom Ruby for the Avatar. Besides this moment, he quietly blends into the herd while Sonic takes center stage in the resistance effort. He was a tool that served his purpose. Nowadays, his presence is relatively inconsequential to the games. It begs the question...
What is the point of Silver anymore?
I believe this dilemma is why we don't see Silver more often. He plays a role that is easily filled by other characters. Much like Tikal, Shahra, Merlina, Chip, or Sage, Silver has fulfilled his narrative purpose as a relatable character whose growth was spurred by meeting Sonic. So for all intents and purposes, he should be done. But he keeps coming back anyway, leaving him in a nebulous space.
Blaze is in a similar situation: she did all her learning in the Rush games, and since then, hasn't really had a reason to appear in the future games. She's completed her arc, and yet she keeps coming back in little side roles. Stuck in limbo with Silver. Fitting.
However, some characters have avoided this limbo. Shadow is the biggest example, returning to the spotlight multiple times since completing his ark (hah) in Adventure 2. This was accomplished by giving him more character growth and amnesia. He explored his own existence in Heroes, then let go of the past in Shadow 05 before learning to cherish it again in Shadow Generations.
Silver could follow a similar path, going through a new character arc involving his relationship to the future or the nature of hope itself. There are lots of lessons he could learn in new adventures, if given the chance. But personally, I'd like to see a direction more like Sonic's.
Silver as an Aspirational Character
When discussing Shadow, there was a game that I left out: Sonic 06. In that game, Shadow is more of an aspirational character. While there is a moment where he learns to accept the help of Team Dark, Shadow's independence and self-determination in spite of dark prophecies and trials is the true heart of his story. Perhaps not coincidentally, the fandom unanimously agrees that Shadow's story is not only the best part of Sonic 06's narrative, but also one of the character's best ever.
In my opinion, Silver should follow this route. If he's really going to be a symbol of hope, he needs moments and stories that display his most admirable traits, inspiring both other characters and the player themselves. It could be a relatable story where Silver struggles with the idea of being an aspirational hero and learns to grow into this role. Or it could be one where he already is aspirational, and helping other characters much like Sonic does. But I truly believe that if Silver is going to stick around in the series, this is his destiny.
And unlike Sonic, Silver wants things to change. When Silver is present in a story, he is most often trying to change the world for the better. He's trying to fix things. When presented with an opportunity to put an end to madness, he seizes it. For example, leaving Eggman Nega in the hell dimension in Rivals 2. Sonic wouldn't do that to Dr. Eggman (or if he did, he would assume that he could escape). Silver isn't afraid of doing things that piss people off, if he thinks it's going to protect the people he cares about from danger.
I've been thinking about another "symbol of hope" character a lot: Superman (specifically James Gunn's). Superman is definitely an aspirational character, and he shares a lot of qualities with Silver. Both deeply value life and won't let anything get in their way of protecting it. Both are very emotional, prone to outbursts when challenged in their goals (Silver crashing out when people get in his way of saving the future in 06 and Rivals, Superman crashing out while being interviewed by Lois or interrogating Lex about Krypto), but ultimately well-meaning. Both are also big dorks.
I'm not saying that they're the same character, nor that they should be. I like how Silver is a lot more feisty and mischievous than Superman. But this character's popularity proves that there is a market out there for a passionate, all-loving symbol of hope who breaks the rules to do good. Sonic is too laidback for this role, and Shadow is too brooding. Silver is that perfect sweetspot!
There is of course, the alternative...
Silver as a Flat Character
This is where Silver is right now. We don't see him be challenged or learn lessons. We don't see him do anything really admirable or inspirational. He's just kind of... there. A unique little part of the cast.
Being flat is not necessarily a bad thing. Omega is one of my favorite characters in the entire series, and his personality can boil down to "I like blowing up robots." This has been his shtick since day one. He's never learned, nor has he ever really taught. He does carry some nuance, but simplicity is his bread and butter. And people love it! We eat it up! Omega is great.
But Silver was once relatable. He once carried a lot more emotional weight in his character and story. So to see him become a flat character has been a little disappointing. It's like drifting away from an old friend who you once knew so well.
I believe this is why Silver has been "flanderized" so much in the past decade — people are trying to take a complex character and flatten him into an easily digestible personality. But none of them really work — "uwu cinnamon roll Silver", "brutal grimdark Silver", "generic shonen protag Silver" — none of them feel right. Because Silver needs direction! He hasn't been given room to properly exist in ages, and it makes people forget what was so cool about him in the first place.
Conclusion
I know it's difficult to juggle a huge cast like the Sonic series', but I feel very strongly about Silver. He's my absolute favorite. He's a type of hero that the world needs and wants right now. I just ask that we see a little more of him, in a role that actually takes advantage of him as a character instead of just using him to fill a slot.
In a time when other would-be major characters who initially struggled to find footing have finally seen success, I like to think it's Silver's turn. Does he need a makeover like these guys? Maybe. Not up to me. But it shows it's possible! Now is the time! I hope Sonic Team takes notice.
This just dropped on Sonic Channel... so vindicating.
EDIT: Also Dengeki Online ran a Sonic character popularity poll, and Silver got 3rd place, just below Shadow and Sonic! Crazy. Many of the reasons they provided why Silver is beloved is because he still has lots of personal growth to do, and watching him grow (while admiring the great traits he already has) makes him inspirational and unique. This is valuable info: while I suggested making Silver more aspirational, it sounds like entirely removing his flaws and relatability is not the right call. He can be both. So we shouldn't over-correct either!

Although the official canon has yet to provide any explicit storyline, all we are shown is the outcome of them becoming a team—and a bond in which one is willing to give up everything for the other.
Yet I believe the origin of their connection has always been embedded in their character personality designs themselves.
Rush already offers a fairly complete foundation for Blaze's character. She does not resent her role as a princess or a guardian. Her inner conflict lies in how desperately she tries to live up to what she believes the world expects of those roles, compounded by the "inconvenience" brought by her unique fire abilities. This drives her into a dead end, pushing herself onto a lonely high ground where she once stood on the verge of collapse—only to dismiss everything with "this is my responsibility", keeping others at arm's length.
Although the canon never explains it outright, I suspect her fire powers are precisely what made her a princess and a guardian in the first place, which is why she would sometimes vent her emotions by calling them "a curse I am forced to bear."
Supplementary materials from 06 script file mentioning that she was bullied as a child due to her abilities also add a great deal to her growth as a character.
As for Silver, despite having even less background material than Blaze, his interactions with others in 06, along with the Sonic Channel monthly illustration that shows him sitting alone by a campfire—his back against a wall scarred with countless marks from defeating Iblis—strongly suggest that he may never have had friends at all. His life seems to have been nothing but endless battle, driven solely by the abilities he possesses and an unwillingness to abandon the hope of changing his reality.
(The way they BOTH appeared slightly flustered and awkward when approached by someone bright and openly friendly)
Silver and Blaze likely both grew up in isolation, though Silver's circumstances were even harsher—his life hanging by a thread every single day. Both of them learned far too early what it meant to shoulder overwhelming burden alone. I believe that after their first meeting in 06, this was the shared truth they recognized in one another.
I also think Blaze sees something even deeper in Silver—something beyond what he himself may realize. Even under the brutally hopeless conditions of the 06 future, Silver never once gave up facing everything, even it's him alone. What keeps him moving forward is his own pure, unwavering hope: a simple wish to make the world just a little better. I imagine this left a profound impact on Blaze, especially considering that she once lashed out emotionally, even wishing her powers and responsibilities were nothing but a curse—while Silver continued to walk forward through fire and smoke, holding fast to that same untainted resolve. This, perhaps, is why Blaze says, "I like that naivety of yours."
Recently, while reviewing Zootopia, I realized that this idea of "seeing myself reflected in you" is portrayed far more directly through Judy and Nick duo. Silver and Blaze share a similar dynamic—only theirs is buried much deeper within their character writing.
I believe that no matter which version of memories Blaze carries when she appears in 06, she would still choose to team up with Silver, and she would still choose to help him.
Their pasts and characters are simply too alike. And for Blaze, this choice could also represent a new stage of growth: someone who once shut everyone out learning to reach out, to form bonds of her own.
As for Silver's final line to Blaze—"You're my friend... Right?"—it feels both like a plea to hold her back through that bond, and a tentative test, as though he already senses that what lies between them has grown into something more. Everything is left unspoken.
Blaze cherishes Silver because, to her, he embodies the very resolve she once nearly forgot — the desire to protect the smiles of others, and the understanding that she can choose who she stands with in bearing responsibility.
Silver cherishes Blaze because, to him, she is the one who walks beside him, the proof that he is no longer alone on this path — the witness, the companion, and the first friend who stands with him when it matters most.
(They share similar motto: protect people's SMILES. Screenshots come from Sonic Channel character story )
Those who carry the weight of the world will eventually walk side by side.
Blaze calls Big "my friend" (purple cat solidarity!). She also confirms her world has a robust fishing trade. Makes sense.
Blaze entrusts the Sol Emeralds to "her finest guards" (Gardon? Marine...?) when she goes away. Nice to confirm.
But Blaze also confides in Knuckles about being anxious while away from her duties. He's like "just don't worry :)"
Blaze seriously considers hiring Espio as part of her royal guard??? His main stipulation is the pay lol.
Omega designates Blaze as "the only one of Sonic's friends worth [his] time" lol.
Blaze has heard of Shadow and vice versa; both are interested in testing each other out.
Blaze is defensive around the thieves (Rouge and the Rogues) because of her history with pirates. I like her banter with Wave, their personality clash is fascinating to me.
Sage is interested in taking over Blaze's world. Probably won't go anywhere, but intriguing.
SILVER
Amy and Storm mix up Silver with Sonic lol, plus Storm accuses him of stealing his look (fluffy chest solidarity?).
Silver eagerly accepts an invitation to go fishing with Big (FANART OF THAT NOW).
Silver tells Shadow that he's "seen and endured more than [he] can imagine". Is the trauma of a fiery apocalypse worse than the trauma of government conspiracies and aliens? Idk.
Vector tries to get Silver's help to win bets, which he vehemently refuses.
Silver confirms no one talks about Jet in the future :'(
Silver calls Metal Sonic "one of the greatest threats the world has ever known" which is... dang, okay!
Silver mentions to Zavok that the Zeti are still a problem in the future! As Zavok says, they've lived for hundreds of years and will live for hundreds more. I just wonder if it's the same Deadly Six...?
Zazz calls Silver "pretty boy" 💅
And of course, the Sage dialogue. They have some heated banter about the fate of the Eggman Empire, with Silver noting that it no longer exists in the future, which inspires Sage to work to ensure its longevity. This started a fanart trend that got people seriously talking about Silver again, for which I am very grateful. Good stuff.
BOTH
Unlike most racers, both Blaze and Silver treat the Egg Pawn as a serious competitor, which is just so them.
Both are real excited to compete with Sonic (YES, never forget that they both threw hands with Sonic).
SILVER VS. BLAZE
Okay, their rival chat is weird to me.
Silver: "I can always count on you to be in step with me, but now it's time to see how we fare head-to-head! Show me what you've got!"
Blaze: "The pleasure is mine. Don't you dare go easy on me! I want this to be a race to remember!"
Blaze: "We're going head-to-head, Silver. Hold nothing back! Show me everything you can do out there."
Silver: "You bet! And I don't want you to go easy on me either! Let's push each other to our limits!"
Why do they say almost the exact same thing??? Most rivals have differences in their dialogue depending who the player is, but this is like. Almost word-for-word the same thing, only role-reversed. They both say "head-to-head" and "don't go easy on me" verbatim. The wording must be intentional... Is it a way to show how in sync they are? Did the writers get lazy? Gonna have to check the original Japanese too. Also, they are both very smiley :)
Anyway, interesting stuff. Might make another post for in-race banter too.
Silver’s whole deal being about being selfless and protecting others
this is why his ultimate move in Sonic 06 is the Shield of Light. something that protects people while Sonic and Shadow have the Arrow and Spear of Light attacks
This is a lesson Silver learned from his adventure in 06 (whether he remembers it or not...), as he realized that protecting Elise was the true way to save the world, not destroying Sonic.
What is the canon version of how Silver and Blaze met?
The "canon" version is that they met in Silver's destroyed future (under currently unexplained circumstances). The first time we ever see them together is the opening of Silver Episode in Sonic 06, and it's clearly not their first meeting. So they met some time before that, off-screen.
At the end of Sonic 06, time is reset so that the Solaris Project never happened. This makes it so that Blaze and Silver didn't meet (which means that Iblis' presence was required somehow). But as we know, those events did happen. They don't know they happened, but we do. So they're canon. But everyone forgot about them.
Case in point...
Makes sense, right?
It's not something to be sad about, imo. Sure they forgot about each other, but they were freed from a terrible fate! Kind of like the ending of JJBA Part 6, if that helps.
The first meeting that Silver and Blaze actually remember is in Sonic Colors on DS. They meet off-screen again, in Sweet Mountain at Eggman's amusement park. Blaze says the Sol Emeralds suddenly sent her there, and Silver explains he's just there to see the park... fishy. Then Sonic and Tails come across them trying to go on a ride together, at which point Silver notes he feels some sort of resonance with Blaze. It's like their souls remember each other, but their brains don't.
So their first canon meeting is in Silver's future. But the meeting that they remember is at Sweet Mountain. Both times, we don't see it happen. It's perfect fanfic fuel lol.
Infinite is mostly a rival to the other hedgehogs, but I honestly think he's a perfect adversary for Silver.
Infinite...
Is obsessed with bringing fear and despair to the world. Relishes in being a villain and ruining lives.
Was once an arrogant "ultimate mercenary" surrounded by minions, who spiraled into hateful insanity after experiencing a modicum of the suffering he inflicted on others.
Alters reality, granting himself unfair advantages that seem to outplay psychokinesis and defy all laws of reality.
Relies on the Ruby for his powers.
Exhibits moral weakness, always selfishly taking the easy route and cutting corners on important tasks.
Is colored black and silver and red.
Silver...
Strives to bring hope and light to the world. Doesn't care about being a hero, just wants to see people smile.
Was once a humble survivor who was totally alone, surrounded by fear and hardship, growing into a stronger and more kind person to defy it.
Works within the laws of reality (physics and time), using his psychokinesis to get creative with his surroundings in combat.
Can innately use his powers(?).
Exhibits moral strength, staying honest and always working for the greater good. Although pragmatic and headstrong at times, he has come to value others and is not selfish.
Is colored white and gold and blue.
I mean come on, you've gotta admit there's potential for an interesting dynamic.
i like how Silver and Blaze have different principles from other heroes. they aren’t anti-heroes because they’re committed to justice, duty and helping people but they’re also more ruthless than other heroes and willing kill and fight dirty to save the day
Yes! In both of their debuts, they had very clearly anti-heroic traits. They were pragmatic and ready to kill (Silver vs Sonic, Blaze vs Eggman). And they had serious personal flaws to work through: Silver's reckless obsession (06) or abrasive determination (Rivals), and Blaze's self-imposed isolation (Rush) or disregard for her subjects (Rush Adventure). But over time, Silver becomes a shining beacon of hope to those around him, and Blaze becomes the beloved ruler of her people. They're still not perfect and maintain many of their darker traits, but are unquestionably heroes.
In a secret laboratory deep in the future timeline, scientists are developing advanced technology to combat threats to the world. These included special gloves and boots, the Psychocuffs, designed to amplify the wearer's latent psychic abilities. The cuffs were made from a rare spiritually resonant metal found in the ruins of an ancient civilization, which could strengthen and stabilize mental abilities.
Silver, who already possessed natural psychokinesis abilities, was chosen to be the first Cuffs test subject due to his outstanding potential. The gloves and boots not only amplified his powers, but also allowed him to precisely control his psychokinesis. This allowed him to accomplish feats previously thought impossible.
In a mission to save the future, Silver uses this technology to travel through time and try to prevent a disaster from ravaging his world. The Psychocuffs are a constant reminder of his duty and the sacrifices of those who created them, and when combined with his natural talents, create a powerful force against evil.
This gels with the old lore about psychic powers being common in Silver’s future and Silver’s gear having the same markings as ancient echidna technology in Sky Sanctuary and the Nocturne from Sonic Chronicles.
I hate to say it folks, but this is probably misinformation. The URL that allegedly links to a Shun Nakamura blog at "shunnakamura.sonicteam.jp" is fishy. While creators at Sonic Team did sometimes have blogs or interviews posted, they would more likely be at "sega.jp" or their own domains. There was a short blog series about Sonic 06 by Nakamura called "Soleanna News", but it doesn't have any of this text.
Take it as a fun theory or headcanon, but do not spread it as official lore until we get a better source. I would love to be proven wrong, since I do like this theory, but so far it's looking fake. Sorry guys, fun police here cracking down on canon!
There are lots of different character profiles for Sonic 06, so I've decided to compile all of Silver and Blaze's here (mostly for my own reference). Japanese sources have the original text, plus an English fan translation; those for which I couldn't find fan translations will have reviewed machine translations for now.
"SONICNEXT_allscript.xls"
Before the game's release, a tester leaked an early internal script for the game online. The file, "SONICNEXT_allscript.xls", is a spreadsheet containing some neat details. Most of it has likely been rendered irrelevant, but it gives us some insight into the intention behind these characters, especially Silver, who was still being solidified. The file comes with an English translation, but it's spotty, so I made a new one based on Windii's retranslation. Can be downloaded from Sonic Retro or TCRF.
(Temporary) A hedgehog boy who came to change a devastated future. Despite coming from a devastated future, he has a positive outlook and believes he can restore peace to the world no matter what. He tends to get reckless, and in this story he's confronted with Mephiles. He has psychokinetic powers and can draw on the power of the Chaos Emeralds. How he got these powers is a mystery. Simply put, think Trunks?
The guardian and controller of the Sol Emeralds (temporary - items that are counterparts to the Chaos Emeralds). She comes from another world, where she plays a role similar to that of Sonic and Knuckles combined. Normally calm and collected, but it seems she's suppressing her hidden feelings with reason. She is quite terrifying when she loses control, burning with anger. Terribly shy, she is someone who will initially put up walls between herself and other people. (On the other hand, if you cross these walls, her sense of friendship will increase more than is necessary). Typically, she wears a cloak. This is because of her trauma of being bullied as a child for her ability to control flames, and she makes a point only to use them when necessary. However, when push comes to shove, she casts off her cloak and shows a surprisingly active side. She hides a Takarazuka-like costume under that cloak! She is secretly insecure of her small chest... (she will become enraged if it is mentioned).
Japan website (early 2006)
This early website only had info on Sonic, Shadow, and Silver, in an attempt not to spoil too much. As of posting, it's still functional on the Wayback Machine.
Now, the newcomer Silver. He is a mysterious individual from the future who has ESP (supernatural powers) and the power to control the movement of various objects. Psychokinesis, levitation, bending objects, and more. Experience a whole new way to play with a variety of actions that are completely different from Sonic.
Japan website (late 2006)
An updated website with profiles for most of the cast. Archives of the site on the Wayback Machine can't open the .swf files for the character profile section, so I had to open them externally using JPEXS in order to see the text. Sorry they're ugly lol.
Silver has the supernatural power to move objects with psychokinesis. He comes to the present day to defeat the "Iblis Trigger", the mastermind behind the destruction of the future, to change the world of the future. Will Silver be able to change the future?
Silver's superpowers make the game even more exciting! Silver's special feature is his psychic powers, allowing him to use psychokinesis to move various objects, catch incoming missiles and throw them back at the enemy, and perform a variety of other attacks. These new gameplay features, made possible by a next-generation physics engine, make the game even more fun and exciting.
She controls and protects the Sol Emeralds (the counterparts to the Chaos Emeralds). Although she is usually calm and collected, she secretly harbors passionate emotions. Although she is strict with herself and shy around others, she cares for Silver, whom she travels with, like a friend and a younger brother.
The comrade who fights alongside Silver in the ruined future, Blaze! Blaze's special ability is her ability to control fire, and she has a variety of attacks, such as the "Spinning Claw," which wreaths her in flames and attacks while spinning, and the "Fire Claw," which attacks using flaming claws. She may appear cool at first glance, but cares deeply about her companions.
Europe website
The only English website with character profiles. Some info is inaccurate: it says Silver saw the start of the crisis in the future, and that Blaze hides her flames under a cape (like in the leaked script). So, take these with a grain of salt. As of posting, it's still functional on the Wayback Machine.
Silver
Silver lives light years in the future where psychic abilities are the norm. The happy people of his planet are very powerful and they regularly move objects with their mind using telekinetic powers. There Silver witnesses the start of a cataclysmic event that will surely wipe out his entire planet. Without hesitation, he races back in time to stop what he calls the Iblis Trigger. With the very future in his hands, he will use all his power to defeat this evil-doer. Does he have the wrong guy?
Blaze
Blaze is a queen from another dimension who protects and controls the Sol Emeralds - a role similar to that of Sonic and Knuckles combined. She has the power to control flames with her body, but since she was teased about it when she was younger, she wears a cape to disguise her abilities. However, when needed, she will toss the cape in a heartbeat.

New info about Silver! This was reported from the Sonic Fan Club meeting at Indonesia Comic Con 2024:
Apparently Silver was originally planned to be an alien from outer space, instead of being from the future. Fascinating. It got touched on again in another fan meeting in Taiwan, not long afterwards:
Shun Nakamura elaborated that he had an idea for a video game about teenagers fighting aliens, and that this inspired Silver. I wonder how exactly, since he didn't go into it. My guess is that Silver being from the future is kind of like him being from space (mysterious outsider with advanced powers/technology, also there seems to be a connection between aliens and ESP in Japan). And him fighting Iblis monsters is kind of like fighting aliens (mysterious monsters that cannot be reckoned with). Who knows what he really meant.
And it sounds like Nakamura-san is talking a lot about Silver and Sonic 06 lately. They're his babies, after all. At both fan events, when he was asked about porting or remaking old games, he said that he specifically wants to do another Silver game or remake 06.
This report, of course, started a war about whether or not 06 needs a remake... never change, twitter.
But still. Very interesting context about the creation of Silver! I hope Nakamura gets a chance to work on a game with him soon, he seems very passionate about it and I've always found Silver and his future to be an untapped resource.
