Valve pls fix your censor policy
Dear Valve,
I’m always your big fan. I love all of your games, from Half-Life, Portal, Counter Strike,... and especially Dota 2. But today I’m really angry.
My name is Shizue Karyan. I used this name everywhere for many years without any problem. But with your new filter policy, you censored my name into “****ue Karyan”. I felt like being insulted.
I’m totally fine with the new policy. Censoring bad words is necessary but you are censoring everything, even your own text and other words with very normal meaning. I can’t understand why those characters “shiz” in my name was censored. Did you think it’s equal to “sh!t”? Or, as some people told me, it’s maybe because of “shizzle” or “shiznit”. By the gods. I’m an Asian and English isn’t my native language. How can I know that my name and an American’s slang contains just a few similar characters? It’s really an insult.
Of course I can turn off the filtering text option. But it’s uncomfortable when other people turn it on and see my name. What will they think about my name?
Just look at your own text in Dota 2. “Wrapped gift” was censored. “Arsenal” was censored. “Shattered” was censored. It’s nonsense and ridiculous.
Fix it, please.
