Not sure what's up with the communication about the rebroadcasts.
Just seems like they're really dropping the ball internally on what they want their messaging to be - which only makes the external messaging more confusing for critters. Unfortunate this is happening before the launch of so much stuff.
Truly the only thing I'm not excited about for C4 is the high chance they introduce editing into the main campaign.
They already started to do it - Divergence, for example.
Please, please just leave it to the wide shot!
It's a teaser announcement, my dude. CR is doing a perfectly fine job commincating. Multiple people have said that we will be getting specific CR4 details in the coming weeks. God forbid they build some hype like every other entertainment company.
My dude, this is weirdly hostile for something that wasn't that serious to begin with.
CR has always had a hard time communicating its message - this has been true since they began. It's not the end of the world, but also doesn't make it immune to silly, minor critique 10 years in.
Also, there was never a world where we wouldn't be getting more details before C4 started, but the teaser still could've been hype while answering any of the main three questions folks have had for the last 6 months since C3 ended.
Honestly, kind of laughing thinking back to the C3 wrap-up.
Critters kept asking if they were saying goodbye to Exandria because all of the language alluded to it, so much so for the cast to be like "noooo, of course we wouldn't leave it!" - knowing full well Critters were talking about the next campaign and that's how they'd take it, only for it to actually be about one-shots and live shows.
Really sums up how they provide information to the fanbase lol
To be clear, I love CR. I'm usually first to the barricade when it comes to defending from silliness, so take this with some lightheartedness.
Just with such a huge release of information and annoucements lately, it's clear that a struggle for them is both what information they provide and how they disseminate it (what do you mean the C4 announcement wasn't in a fully-realized, and thus detailed, State of the Role??).
Anyone else feel CR sometimes loves a micommunication?
Like what do you mean you're not going to explain one of the main things people want to know (who the cast is) about your biggest/most prominent production (the main campaign)??
They've done similar things in the past - most recently with the live shows where they decided to sell tickets a year in advance, with like a week notice, without explaining what the shows would even be.
Who over there is being stingy with information and why are they so good at it? Who do we gotta talk to?
You know, say what you will about the announcement, but there was a part of me afraid the C4 announcement was going to be that there wouldn't be a main campaign at all - so this is honestly great news. A win is a win!
Their passing of the baton was always coming, so this isn't really a surprise. I'm very excited to see what Brennan can do in a long-term setting. And Matt has always deserved a rest lol
I only have two hopes for C4.
1. It isn't Daggerheart - I maintain that their best bet is to run two different campaigns (though before today I would've bet a guest GM would've been at the helm for the secondary campaign, not the main one).
2. We have a table that has the core cast. Any less than normal is sad, but moreso if it's less founders than new folks.
It would surprise me if they tried to change the CR formula significantly, all in one go, but I suppose we'll have to wait for more announcements in the coming weeks.
Needless to say, they've given us so much, and they're just getting started. I can't wait to see where their stories go!
Beyond excited for the upcoming CR announcement!
Terrified it's going to be C4 is Daggerheart.
I have said it since the start of EXU and I will continue to say it until the end of time, but Robbie is one of the best things to happen to CR and he should be a permanent addition!
Watching the backstage stuff and it's a little sad that the audience will only get to pick between two of everyone's characters - seems they're leaving a lot of the Bells out from the choice :(
I continue to be sad that we're seeing more of the two-shots instead of the full table :(
Sam as GM! Exandrian content! That's a win!!
Critical Role, please never change your wild tone shifts between the show and commercial break!
Truly a peak trait
Aww, baby-faced Travis!
Buck being hurt/almost hurt + Bobby's Reaction 9-1-1, S1-S8
Watching the Cooldown, it really feels like they're passing the Exandrian torch.
I always assumed we'd see a second table get a long-term campaign to run concurrent with the main campaign, so as to start sowing the seeds of passing the baton. Matt has said he has no plans to stop soon, but that they want CR to live past this current group doing it and have others eventually take the mantle.
This kind of feels like the next we see of a long-term campaign set in Exandria (if C4 isn't), it will be with someone else at the helm and others around the table.
I've thought for a long time that a second table, ran concurrent with the main table, would be a great way to meet the needs of those who would watch CR if it were edited more akin to other actual plays. Plus, it'd be a great way to introduce newer (and other diverse) voices without having to tell their friends they have to leave the table.
