When I first read this book, it was a love at first sight. I remember being completely engrossed, so much so that I devoured it in a single day. I was my favourite book of all time for years.

Nowadays, I'm much more aware of its problematic aspects, but I still cherish it. I'm so grateful it exists and continues to inspire amazing artists - among them, the creators of the wonderful TV series that I adore so much.

Mediterranean Long-eared Bat Plecotus kolombatovici

A bat ranging from Italy east through the Balkans east to Syria, and south to Jordan. This species is often found in the islands of the Adriatic sea, but also inland with a recorded presence in most of Greece. In Albania, many specimens were found in former bunkers on the Sazan Island.
