THIS NEEDS MORE NOTES!! BOOST THIS!
One of my favorite paintings I did last year. Its in the gardens along the magical Filbert Stairs on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco. Spent a lot of wonderful mornings there painting.

You know what? I do see the difference! The guy on the left is awarding Ellen with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. That’s an award given to American citizens. The guy on the right is giving a veteran the Presidential Medal of Honor, an award given to soldiers who serve their country. Obama gave out Medals of Honor to dozens of soldiers. So it is really weird that they chose to use a photo of him with Ellen instead of one any of those. It’s almost as if they were intentionally making an unfair comparison in order to confirm the biases of the uneducated rubes who trust Facebook memes more than actual news. Fun Fact: That veteran served in Vietnam, a war that the current commander in chief deferred from serving in FIVE TIMES because he had painful “bone spurs.” The president heroically overcame that obstacle the second the draft was over, and now he can even play golf 2-3 times a week instead of doing the job he was elected to do. See? You can learn something from memes. It just takes a little digging. - John Marcotte
this is the best post
We NEED to get Net Neutrality trending again.
This is enough. Ajit Pai has already succeded MULTIPLE TIMES and you can expect the full removal of net neutrality on APRIL 23RD OF THIS YEAR. We can still contact our senators, we can still fight as hrd as we can, but even though 23 states are suposedly suing for the repeal of this, we need to help it along.
In case people forgot what Net Neutrality is: it is a series of laws that ensure everyone free and fair access to the internet. Without them, you will be charged for the sites you use on top of an already high internet bill. This means creators like us cannot post and be seen. Thia means that smaller schools will havebto switch to out of date text books. This means that starter IT projects that could make our lives better will die because noone can support an online presence that noone can afford to see.
And the list goes on and on and on. I have frienda who have to make their livings through commissions and working online because of multiple health issues. I have friends trying to publish books, post art, post voice acting snippets that will not be seen without these laws.
Please support Net Neutrality and contact your senators!!! This is so important to everyone you know, AND WE JUST NEED ONE SENATOR TO TURN THE TIDE!!!
“are you really going to tear a friendship apart over different opinions??”
listen, I got tons of friends who like pineapple on their pizza, but once you reach that “you, your community, or other marginalized communities don’t deserve basic human rights or even perhaps the right to live” level, you should just accept that it’s your fault no one wants to be your friend.
More accurately, no one really breaks up friendships (or families) over differences of “opinion”, but they will do so over differences of fundamental issues of morality.
The fact that large numbers of people think that “moral positions, often about issues that are literally life and death” and “personal opinions” are interchangeable concepts is a large part of what’s wrong with society.
this really put into words something i’ve always struggled to articulate, especially the last paragraph.
Gave my students a pop quiz today and learned something new:
If you make all the answers to the questions C, you will see 35 of the most hilariously panicked and confused faces in the world.
