Is learning Korean easy?
This is a question I get more often than you might think. And, no shame if you’re someone that’s asked me this question before. But I’m writing this caption today to finally answer that question once and for all; from my perspective anyway.
No, learning Korean isn’t easy. Learning any language isn’t truly easy. There may be aspects that are easy, but there are just as many aspects that are difficult.
Now, the point of this is not to discourage you from learning. If you have legitimate passion for learning Korean and you want to go for it, then I support you in that 100%. But, you also have to be realistic about the amount of effort that reaching nearly any level in a language takes. It takes time, it is not something that should be rushed. It takes dedication, it’s not something that you should only do once a week. It takes practice, it’s not something that you can achieve completely by yourself (you need to practice with other people).
But, it’s ultimately worth it. At least, it has been for me anyway. Learning Korean has opened so many doors for me, and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
It allowed me to make more friends! Being able to converse in Korean allows you to be able to speak to more people.
It allowed me to expand my cultural horizons and consider cultures that are different from my own.
It allowed me to enjoy pop culture like music and dramas.
It allowed me to learn self-discipline.
And most of all, it allowed me to discover my hidden love for language learning.
So, is learning Korean easy? No. But it’s worth it.
