TIPS FOR NEW MODELS
You have to start building your book. So you'll need to start contacting different photographers and asking them to help you build. Unless you already have that. You should start focusing on getting use to your face and learning your angles. Learn how to emote(connect with the camera and show emotion). That's what a lot of girls "who model" miss. Modeling isn't about being skinny or just attractive, even tho it seems that way. Practice going through posing fluidly. Take plenty of pictures of yourself, bc that helps you learn how to predict how you come across on camera. Once you get a few solid images, you can post them. Agencies aren't as great as they seem. Especially for commercial print models. You would do better getting under a talent MANAGEMENT company. There's a difference. Agencies are more for runway models, bc they are the ones that get contracted. You are going to be doing a lot of free shoots to start off bc you need to build your book. Work with photographers based off of the quality of their work FIRST, and then how much exposure they can get you LAST(popularity). Try to network at shoots, bc that's how you can learn about different castings. Don't be so quick to just model or do or pay anything. There are a lot of ppl who are just simply looking to take advantage. Learn how to ask questions before hand. Never do a shoot if it's not worth it. It's ok if it looks like "you aren't doing anything". I usually only do a shoot for 3 reasons: pays well, it's a great addition to my book, collaborating with that photographer will gain more exposure for myself. Keep your Polaroids pretty updated to your appearance: hair color and style changes or weight gain. Your Polaroids should be little to no makeup, solid simple clothing(depending on the type of model you are), and 3 sets of 3. One set full body both sides and facing forward. One set hips up, same angles. And close-up portraits, same angles with an additional 3/4 angle. Worry about your technique and book first, and agencies later. Social media is now an easier way for models to present/represent themselves. Use it.
