i’m usually never stressed about exams but this one has me LOSING MY MIND can’t wait for this to be over tomorrow

book 9/10 is divergent by veronica roth. 15 year old me was onto something when she was obsessed with this book. still hits almost 10 years later 😭

anyway this marks the end of this reading challenge because school starts tomorrow 💔 i was so close to reading 10 books this school holiday but the creative act by rick rubin put me in a teeny reading slump… nonetheless, i am glad to have read 9 books and am excited to continue this momentum throughout my school year!

my copy of the slow regard of silent things was inscribed by pat rothfuss, ocean vuong and ross gay have signed my collections of their poetry, and i have a few books by friends and teachers with very sweet inscriptions

book 8/10 is solitaire by alice oseman! after reading 4 of alice’s written works, i’ve realised that i may not like them very much 🥲

i loved heartstopper and the nick & charlie novella but this winter, iwbft, radio silence and solitaire just hasn’t been the best reads in my experience. they all feel lacklustre. there was a lot of potential for it to be great but the plot always falls flat in the end (except this winter which was overall just not a pleasant reading experience lol). i still have one more alice oseman book on my shelf which is loveless & i’m so hoping that will change my opinion on alice’s written works 💔

#maybe i’m just not the YA target audience alice writes for? idk #also i specifically found solitaire to be extra confusing compared to the rest #i get that tori is depressed but suddenly wanting to commit suicide at the end? i don’t get it #i kind of see the buildup of how her life just slowly gets worse & she starts spiralling but her wanting to jump off the building was 🤨🤨🤨#also everything was just sooo predictable about who solitaire was & who was sending tori the anon messages #that when it finally got revealed in the end i was just like ‘oh ok i knew this 200 pages ago but sure’#bookblr #shoot me the sos

book 7/10 is this winter by alice oseman ❣️ characters were infuriating to read (sorry but they were acting like the world revolves around them) and the plot was kinda meh. not my favourite read

book 6/10 is nick and charlie by alice oseman 💛 this book holds such a special place in my heart because i related to it SO much the first time i read it + listening to the audiobook complements the story so well 😭

book 5/10 is heartstopper volume 5 by alice oseman 🧡 i’m sad that this is the last of the heartstopper books because i’ve had such a fun time rereading these, but i’m not done with them yet so next on my list are the novellas!

the first time i read this volume i found it a bit long, but spreading myself out in multiple sittings makes my time with the book more enjoyable

now that i'm on my semestral break for the next 3 months, i really want to get back into reading again!!! i haven't picked up a book in so long because i haven't found anything that ~hits~ right 😔

lately been feeling that i’m missing out by not having the typical overseas uni experience

#idk i feel like the moving abroad & living on your own for a few years shapes you as a person #and now that i don’t have that experience i feel like i’m the same person as i was before university #like uni was supposed to be this huge step into adulthood where i learnt how to ~adult~#but now that i don’t have that opportunity idk when i’ll be able to learn the ~adulting skills~ if that makes sense #idk i feel like i also haven’t been making full use of my life in a sense?#i feel like i could also just get a job? so i don’t feel so useless #IDKKK i just wish i got that overseas uni experience. i feel like it would’ve shaped me into becoming a better person #shoot me the sos
