Monster High Fake Wydowna Spider Review
i bought this doll on aliexpress for $6.99 because i needed a six armed body for a custom and i wasn’t willing to buy a real wydowna just to tear apart and tbh it did cross my mind a couple times while waiting for her that she might be so incredibly bad that i’d have to just throw her away as soon as i opened her but i actually really really like her!
at this point i started getting really excited because i absolutely adore unwrapping doll mummies
her head was pushed all the way down to her shoulders so she had no neck when i first pulled her out of the bag. when i pulled it up i realized her face was covered in some kind of powder and even after wiping it off her vinyl still felt dull/matte and had a lot of tooth.
everything she came with. i’m kinda disapointed that she only came with two pairs of shoes but i really love the little mint buttlerfly ones so i guess it’s okay. the neck piece of the dress was actually sewn closed around her neck so i had to cut it and the top part dress is very baggy. the skirt however is actually really cute and pretty nicely put together so i may just cut it apart and keep ditch the top.
the black fangs are a really cool look but her eyes are noticeably wonky. you can see that her widow’s peak is a little off center which seems to be the biggest tell tale sign of a fake.
her nose looks very small and pointy to me compared to the original but if on it’s own she has a cute profile. i want to try shrinking her head but i’m afraid an acetone soak might tear apart this cheap vinyl.
her hair is much brighter than original wydowna’s but it’s actually very soft and manageable
her rooting is very sparse. from the back of her neck up she has three distinct rows of hair before her bangs.
her bangs are actually rooted pretty nicely and when it’s styled right you can’t tell how bald she is but i’ll definitely be rerooting her
her limbs are very soft and flimsy, almost like rubber and her legs are slightly loose at the hips. i intend to sand the limbs and coat them with a thin layer of clay to strengthen them up. she has a molded waistband but not panties and no markings on her back.
her legs are very warped so i’m going to try boiling them to straighten them before i sculpt them up.
her joints are pretty stiff because of the rubbery texture rubbing against it’s self. i’m not sure how to fix that or this bent open knee joint so i’d love any recommendations!
here she is with her body swap buddy! i don’t actually have plans for wydowna’s head and jane’s body but i’m sure i’ll figure something out! i fixed them up for now so they’ll be pretty until i can get to work on them but i’m so excited to see how they turn out!! overall i think she’s actually very well made for a knock off and a very good option for people wanting to practice customizing! if you don’t mind the problems with her body she’s also a pretty good replacement for people who can’t get ahold of an original wydowna.
