Get Up and Go

This painting is many things. Part photograph, part vector design, part doodle. It came out of a moment of feeling restless, of holding in something unknown that needed to come out. Inspired by the burst of life that is summer, and the flaming red poppies that pop out of every conceivable nook where I live, but also the Vienna Secession, and its idealistic vision of everyday life being immersed in art.

I had the pleasure of designing this cover for No Press. I combined one of my photos with an excerpt of one of my paintings. I love working in this fashion. It's exciting to recontextualize and find new life in old work.

Do you overthink like I do? Do your thoughts loop themselves into knots, just until something in your periphery distracts you long enough to lose the thread? When I make something like this, my thoughts finally have somewhere to go. I add and subtract until the knot is released.

This limited edition art print features an exclusive and original artwork by Björn Bauer. The edition of archival, museum-quality prints is strictly limited to ten. Each artwork is printed with the artist's signature and a unique number out of 10, discreetly placed in the lower right corner. Once ten prints have sold, this artwork will not be reissued.

This print will also be a time-limited release. Orders will close ten days from release on August 5, 2024.

What an absolute masterpiece. If I had to pick my favorite painting, it would be hard not to pick this. The composition is almost complete madness, and the atmospheric space it creates feels like a dream, ancient and futuristic all at once. What a tragedy that it no longer exists.

"Envy and Greed II" (Two dogs and a bone do not agree easily), 1985

A clever and all too poignant synthesis of contemporary abstraction and pop art, this piece immediately caught my eye from across the hall at the Kunsthaus in Zürich. I love the way it works on a totally abstract level, but simultaneously delivers an incisive message.

The Tree Connection - Inseparable Art Print
