Hi! I was wondering because it is not explicitly stated in your Carrd, what are the differences and canon divergence between your Jason Dean and the movie Jason Dean? Other than the obvious of him being trans I couldn't find anything so I was just curious.

okay, i was going to get to this months ago, but life happened, i forgot, and now i’m so drained but i’m finally going to answer this.

there are two huge aspects to my interpretation of jason that i want to talk about. the first is that the first person jason fell in love with was not veronica, but a guy named benji, who lived outside of arizona. jason met him maybe a year after his mom died, and so he was able to process his grief in a different way - because it was immediately after, he was able to take these coping mechanisms he learned from benji and move them into his next life, after he would eventually move away from arizona. because he had loved benji, and he knew that he and benji would always love each other in one way or another, there was none of that “maybe i am blowing up the entire school because nobody loves me” bullshit.

also! therapy! veronica ( @sovery , specifically! ) essentially gave jason and ultimatum; get therapy, or lose me. he decided that his relationship with veronica was more important than whatever statement he was going to make with the murders. he does still imagine the school blowing up as he walks across the graduation stage, though, but baby steps!
