i genuinely don't think there's much, if anything, hotter than someone clearly having a blast doing something they're really good at. doesn't really matter what it is. the combo of competence and joy is absolutely lethal to me
the aroace read of ryland grace is so personal and haunting. "you don't even have a dog." was it not enough to love the world for the sake of living in it. was it not enough to live for the thrill of discovery. was it not enough to smile at your students. was it not enough to be afraid.

So much of what charmed me about Warriors when I was a kid was the travel (pretty famously hated by the fandom, but beloved by me always) and a lot of that same road-trip-ish, “going somewhere we’ve never been before” magic is what makes classic D&D so endearing to me.
A lot of the events that take place in Tales of Solace are super out-of-order from how they happen in the show. The Path to Sylvaire is an ill-advised trip taken by Ficusfire, Lightcatcher, and Adaine (supervised by Sandy) to further investigate the god that brought Lightcatcher back to life. Stagpaw, Canaryblaze, and Billystrike are the people they meet individually in various places while making the journey.
(Mad ramblings below)
Lightchaser: A former member of The Valley of the Sun (a clan of determinists, who believe that all things in life fall into the category of good and evil, including the day/night cycle. All members of Sun Valley are completely Diurnal by choice). Lightchaser abandoned Sun Valley as an apprentice, after her first death revealed to her that fate is not concrete.
Ficusfire: Formerly a house cat named Fig (haha), who joined the clans as an apprentice after learning that her dad was a forest cat. Ficusfire struggles to find the balance between her comfortable life, and the idealistic adventure-heavy future she’s begun to imagine for herself.
Adaine: A former member of The Clowder of the Clearbrooks (a small group of stuck-up house cats who participate minimally in clan life), Adaine began her apprenticeship as a daylight warrior, and chose to become a full-time member of the clans after her human’s house burned down. Adaine chooses to keep her name, rather than taking on a clan name.
Stagpaw: A former member of the valley of the sun. found abandoned as a kitten, raised into the clans, then exiled as an apprentice when it became clear that she would grow up to be a lynx rather than a forest cat. Currently lives as a loner near where she was exiled, but upon meeting the girls, she expresses a want to travel to Fallinel, and tags along on the journey to Sylvaire.
Canaryblaze: A loner who lives in The Cat’s Cradle (a collection of islands with minimal human presence, and a whole bunch of cats. Visually, think the Channel Islands off of SoCal). CanaryBlaze primarily lives at the Compass Points lighthouse, as the companion of an old human man. Upon meeting the girls, she agrees to help them board a ferry to fallinel, and ends up sticking around for the rest of their journey.
Billystrike: A farm cat who did her apprenticeship in the clans as a moonlight warrior. Billystrike lives in a chaotic family of barn cats and herding dogs, all of whom encourage her to make the most of her freedom. Upon meeting the girls, Billystrike decides that she’s ready for an adventure, and accompanies them to Sylvaire.
Design notes :)
Lightchaser:
Two puncture wounds from the nightmare forest instead of one (because the cat version of the great unicorn is, of course, the great sabertooth).
The flowers in her design are Bind Weed — a type of vine that is notoriously difficult to kill.
The spots on her face are supposed to mimic her freckles :)
Ficusfire:
Her choker is actually just an Anti-coyote collar.
piercings are a mix of sharpened bones from smaller animals (and they match the placement of the chips in Sandra Lynn’s ears, which could mean nothing)
She keeps one of Ayda’s flowers on her ear :))
Adaine:
The bell on her neck makes it practically impossible for her to hunt for herself, essentially keeping her dependent on her parents for survival.
Stagpaw:
Fully just a Lynx. Not even a cat that kind of looks like a Lynx, she just is a full Lynx.
The scar on her neck is a graze-wound from the bullet she wears.
Ayda:
She’s a Chausie!!! Her mom is a jungle cat (which is almost the same as a phoenix)
Flowers to represent flames! Yay!!
Billystrike:
Wears a self-made yoke as a protest of her parents wanting her to rebel. Really a big “fuck you. I’m staying right here.” Thing. Also because she’s a goat. Haha.
Sandy:
Her harness acts as a sort of gauntlet, so Baxter doesn’t scratch her
The jess that attatches Baxter to her harness isn’t there to stop him from flying away, but instead lets him glide above her when she’s running :))
Back on my actual play kick! I finished "The Wizard, the Witch and the Wild One" a few days ago and was blown away! HUGE props to the cast and crew of Worlds Beyond Number, that was an incredible experience.
Also I had to draw Ame, the Fox, Suvi and Eursulon, they are all so amazing! Can't wait to see what comes next :)
