One day Asher will figure out that all he needs to creep out Nero is to smile as wide as he can. And then there will be no more blowjobs for magical artifacts. Sorry Franz, no more things for u.
I love this weird mouthed man I had to.
nero stopped inviting asher over after he woke up to this;
threads where muses talk about things that confuse them
threads where muses talk about things that have hurt them in the past
threads where muses talk about their deepest fears
threads where muses talk about sexual and romantic orientation and relationships (past and present !!)
threads where muses have deep conversations and are vulnerable with each other !!
me; i want people to Enjoy this novel me also; i cannot wait for a million hate messages when asher goes ahead and [REDACTED]

Villain protagonists are absolutely a thing (they even have their own trope on tvtropes) and I think you should stick with it. Asher, while being a shitball, is very interesting and I love the idea of following the antagonist as the "protag" for most of the story, then finding out "oh shit... hes the fucker???" That sounds cool as shit honestly. I think you could provide that in a way people of all enjoyments will like. Sometimes, reading a book and going "wow i HATE this dude, but it was so well written i love the series" happens and its one of my favorite things tbh. And I think you could pull that off! Especially because Asher is so interesting and unique and i love this asshole ok
TBQH i think your stories (and Asher himself) are already set up to where it almost NEEDS him as the protagonist? And I don't mean as the hero- he is very much the villain, but that's the whole point, and it's a Good Point. From what I've read, your story could definitely pull off the villain protag well and Asher is so prominent I... couldn't see him being just "the antagonist" or a side character. Like. He HAS to be at this point, I couldn't personally see anythingelse which is a gr8 thing i think.
ERA I’M GONNA CRY OVER ALL THESE COMPLIMENTS ABOUT MY TRASHY SON. Personally I LOVE villain protagonists/ anti-or-unreliable heros; in the books where they aren’t the starring role, the most interesting parts to me are the sections that show the villains actions or POV behind the scenes. And while Asher doesn’t PLAN his actions, they definitely set into motion a lot of the bigger plot stuff that continues through onto the As Above So Below series; YOU’RE RIGHT, he does need to have a prominent role in the story bc otherwise 90% of it is missing haha. Without being too spoilery for future AASB stuff or the novel itself, Asher does inadvertently trigger the entire war between the surface & the sunken cities (which is basically the entire AASB series), SO... he is a very important playing piece in the narrative. By time AASB rolls around, we have like 20 other POVs so I’m less worried about Ashers constant Shittiness getting old kjgfsd.

(In my experience, book readers respect authenticity. Not saying it's going to be for everyone, but most books aren't! Plus, it's really important to YOUR enjoyment of writing that you write the character in a way that makes sense to you. If you're not digging what you write, it can be hard to press onward! Plus plus, if you look back on the first draft and find yourself questioning bits, you can always revise!))
TRUE, all of these are very good points. If someone asked me that question I’d probably give the same answer as you, i think it’s just a case of self doubt lmao. I know exactly what I’d love to write, but my brain goes into Marketing/Publisher mode and tries to pick apart all the things that could go wrong with that haha. I need to stop worrying about the details and just get it all written down at this point! AS FOR THE REVISING yes -- ilu for reminding me of that because my brain completely went over the fact ill just be posting the first draft -- that’s 100% an option. the whole point of posting the first draft online is to get reactions to figure out what can stay and what needs to be worked on, so ‘go ahead and write anyway’ seems like the solid course of action here. :’D thanks so much for your input!!
The one thing that concerns me about ashers novel is the fact that asher is the protagonist yet he is..without a single doubt a reoccurring villain in the main series. so I'm like 'are you the sort of person someone would want to follow in a story' bc while he does have Not Evil aspects he also makes some very questionable and Bad choices in his story that could frustrate the reader. And personally I love that because it's the characters that do things that make me go 'OH YOU FUCKER-' that are most memorable/interesting to me. BUT at the same time I want the novel to be an enjoyable read ( for people who like darker stuff and people who dont) so I'm like
what do
things i’m too busy to doodle/need in threads; asher going to point @ something and his hand just dropping off.
