Dead Things in the Water | Germain | Chapter 1 | Open
loving-matchmaker:
Xana turns to look at Germain her dark green eyes scanning over him like she can see into his soul. A few seconds of awkward silence pass as she stares at him before she finally tilts her head to the side and frowns. “Penny for my thoughts huh?”
It would take much more than a few words to fully explain her thoughts and she’d rather not spend the hours, they don’t have to completely describe her way of thinking so she just settles with. “Well I’m currently trying to think of a way to counteract his motive so we can all survive this situation we find ourselves in.”
She looks around the room and gazed out into the darkness outside with a sense of dread. “It might seem like the understatement of the century to say that we’re in a bad way, but I feel that there might be a way out of this.”
She holds out her hand with a joking smile. “Well… you owe me a penny, unless you want to give me your thoughts on the situation as a way of repayment.”
Why’d she have to glare at him like that? It was only making Germain more uncomfortable. He guessed there was no helping it; you walk up to someone and greet them as he had, you were bound to get some stares. ”Th-thats what I said, yeah... Sorry.”
He shuffled his feet. Ways to counteract drowning? He couldn’t think of many. If Xana could think of some way to prevent Susan from flooding the boat and killing them all, Germain wished she’d hurry up, because right now, the only method that seemed likely to work was murder.
Germain looked at her hand blankly. “I don’t have any...” Oh, she wasn’t being serious. “Ah. Jokes.” He chuckled a bit and smiled tentatively. “W-well, someone killing s-someone else was inevitable, s-so I guess this just speeds that up.” He rubbed his neck. “When you think about it, m-maybe we forced our captors... our captor’s hand? Like they wanted us t-to kill already but we haven’t because we’re b-better than that. And...they have to. Y’know, force us.” He paused, trying to gauge Xana’s reaction. “I guess that’s kinda silly.”
Tick Tock |Ch.1| Open
shslgoodluckgirl:
While she had learned that life here would be rather unpredictable, Nadia was still extremely startled when Monosame slammed himself straight into the glass at the head of the room. So startled, in fact, that she jumped backwards and flung her arms around herself at the sudden room-shaking crack!
As the shark threatened them, Nadia couldn’t prevent herself from trembling. How could this happen? Not only were they being forced to kill people in order to leave, but now… they were on a time limit?!
24 hours… somebody has to kill in only 24 hours! It was too much for Nadia to imagine. All the people she has talked to so far seem… so nice! How could any of them kill someone else? This isn’t right… there had to be another way around this, right?
Nadia rubbed the back of her neck and shook her head. Unease was quickly creeping in, but, she had to stay brave. With a deep breath, Nadia put on an optimistic smile.
“I think he’s just bluffing! We’ll all be okay!”
No one had killed anyone yet, which was a relief, but he could tell it meant their psychopath of a host wasn’t too happy with them. Good. Stick it to them, show them who’s boss. Make them know that the students wouldn’t stand for this. Unfortunately, that attitude dissipated when Susan called them all down, with just twenty-four more hours on the clock. What was going to happen?
Germain squealed when Susan struck the glass, ducking into a defensive position, shutting his eyes, and covering his ears. Oh yes, because that will certainly protect you from the force of an entire ocean. The bravery he’d managed to build up as no one killed was shattered, thankfully unlike the window Susan rammed into.
In a way, the motive was satisfying. Maybe they’d forced the hand of whoever trapped them here, to make them give the students an incentive. Or perhaps this was planned from the start. Less satisfying. Germain heard Nadia speaking and turned to look at her. He made his way over to stand by her.
He was doubtful. But then again, they probably all were. Hadn’t she told him to think more positively? He grinned awkwardly, tugging on a couple strands of hair. “Y-Yeah, you’re right. You’re probably... he wouldn’t really kill us.”
Germain didn’t actually believe that, but he was trying to convince himself. If they all died, their captor wouldn’t see them kill each other like they (presumably) wanted to. Though if they just wanted them all dead, they’d get what they want. But if that was their goal, why didn’t they just kill them all in the first place? And if their host flooded the sub, wouldn’t that kill them too? Or was there an escape route? He was finding it frustrating to dwell on.
“W-We should try to stay calm... w-worrying will get us nowhere.”
And when you thought things couldn't get any worse [Motive]
delugeofdespair:
You all couldn’t shake off the feeling of dread that now permeated the submarine after Susan had made that fateful announcement. Kill to leave? Surely he couldn’t be serious, right? And for a while you could let the false sense of security reassure you, that maybe this was all just a huge practical joke, and there was to be no killing. But perhaps you knew it wasn’t. Which is why you found yourself back in the meeting room, all sixteen of you, waiting for him to make a reappearance. When there was 24:05:00 left on the clock, the speakers crackled to life.
“Howdy there! Ah’ can tell y’all have been listenin’, and here y’all are, punctual too! Good, good, ah’ like it when m’kids behave themselves! As promised, ‘ere’s yer somethin’ special!”
For a moment, nothing happened. You all looked around, wondering what the special surprise was and where it was going to come from. It was Kasai who first noticed Susan in the distance, and as everyone turned to look, the small black-and-white dot in the distance got bigger. Very fast.
C-C-CRACK!!!
Without warning, MonoSame slammed into the glass panorama, and a large, if hairline, crack spread out from the initial point of impact. Luckily, the panel held, and Susan simply backed up so he could address you through the cleft window.
“Well, that went exactly as ah’ expected it ta go! Good thing too, I d’wanna drown y’all…on accident, at least.” Susan smiled, as his monochromatic red eye gleamed. “Henceforth, ah’ declare, that if no one dies before these next twenty-four hours are up, ah’m authorized ta flood this whole submarine by ramming into it again ‘n again, and turn y’all into m’next submarine sandwich! If ya wanna continue this whole no-killin’ business just so y’all can remain guilt-free, then be m’guest! Ah’ hope ya understand the consequences of not actin’ when it’s yer only choice left!”
With a macabre laugh, Susan sped away, and your eyes all refocused on the red timer.
24:00:01…24:00:00…23:59:59…
You now had twenty-four hours to kill, or risk everyone on board being killed. Bon voyage.
Higeru Hashimoto || Chapter One Start || The Scalded Cat Fears Cold Water || Open
delugeofdespair:
Higeru couldn’t believe what he was fearing. In fact, it was taking a little while to register. They were…. no…. they were staying here forever? He began to shake. They couldn’t, they just couldn’t be forced to stay here forever, and….
Kill eachother?…. Higeru wasn’t too familiar with murder. He knew vaguely what it entailed, but he generally wasn’t too familiar with the inner workings of the concept, or of death in general. How does a person cause… death? So someone wont be around anymore, right? It was…. well, it was a bit alarming, to say the least, and completely baffling.
External image
“What?… What are you…”
Before he could finish however, he was immediately struck by the sight of water coming rushing towards him. In a normal circumstance, he would’ve scampered out of the way, but he watched as Kurimu hurled in front of him. Confused and hesitant for a moment, he reached out to catch her, only to be socked right in the chest and gut by the girl barreling into him, as well as a fuck ton of water. It took Higeru a moment to come to his senses, but when he did, he was curled up on the floor, trembling and whimpering.
External image
“Hhh… hhhhhh….”
Germain was terrified by everything he was hearing. Murder, death, trapped underwater, everything blurred together in his mind. Why would someone do this? What exactly were they doing? Oh Jesus, what did he do to deserve this? Murder was such nasty business, and Germain would like to stay clear of it, thank you very much.
In all honesty, Susan’s behavior was coming as a bit of a shock to Germain. He probable should’ve expected the robot shark to be a dick, but he had seemed so nice earlier. What had happened since then? Germain figured all chances of making a mechanical fish friend had gone down the drain.
As if to emphasize his status as an absolute jerk, Susan had to shoot that jet of water into that poor kid. It was a good thing that short ice cream kid had helped out, but the boy was still on the ground shaking. Once things calmed down, Germain made his way over and bent down next to him.
“Are you a-alright?” He was speaking softly, and looked over his shoulder. “D-Do you need any h-help?”
Winter is Coming | Germain | Chapter 1 | Open
bonfire-hacker:
The news that people would die in this place had caused quite a bit of commotion, Ayato waited until the shark was gone to leave the room. The rest of the floors were quiet for the time being, it was nice honestly. After wandering around for a bit, Ayato found himself in the library, it wasn’t the worst place here, but it was still a bit boring.
“Better have something useful here….” He started looking at the number of books on the shelves, they were in different languages making it difficult for him to read the titles. “Maybe I should consider learning another language” Ayato found a book that sounded mildly interesting and took it off the shelf.
He started reading it while walking and bumped into someone, he hadn’t even noticed that someone else was here. “Who the hell are you?” Ayato closed the book and placed it in his bag.
Germain hadn’t expected anyone else to come to the library. Sure enough, there they were though. He peeked around the shelf to get a look at the newcomer; he seemed to just be grabbing a book. Germain had no real reason to be suspicious, so he decided he’d best just ignore the other guy. Maybe he’d just leave.
He walked along the wall, reading the bindings of the various books he passed. Sure enough, not paying attention where he was walking, he bumped into this dude. Whoops. He was gonna have to apologize and skidaddle real quick.
“I’m s-sorry.” He grimaced. The question came off as a bit hostile. “I-I was just leaving. Don’t worry, I’ll go.” Germain shuffled his feet and began to step past him. He knew it was open for everyone, but to Germain, the library was at its best when it was unoccupied. He knew he’d have to deal with other people in there, so he didn’t complain, but right now he really didn’t have the energy to be around anyone.
The Birthday Bash | Kurimu | Prologue | Open
“Hm?” Kurimu tilted her head at an angle to look. “Oh. New blood. Come on in, I promise I don’t bite. Just making some ice cream to…well, celebrate what I think is my birthday.” With that, she placed the three bowls into separate compartments, before closing the otherwise empty freezer and setting the dial to flash-freeze.
That done, Kurimu pushed herself up onto the kitchen counter in order to see eye to eye with the new person. “So, what’s up? What’s your name? I’m Kurimu Kouri, the Super High School Level Ice Cream Maker.”
Straight to the point as always, ain’t she?
New blood? Don’t like the sound of that. He hadn’t spoken to this kid before, or even seen her really. Though he’d have loved to leave before needing to start a conversation, it was a bit too late now.
He didn’t seem to be acknowledging her as he looked through the pantry. Unsure of what he wanted, he shut the door, turning around tentatively. “Ah.” His voice was just a smidge above a whisper. “Happy birthday then, maybe. I guess.” He didn’t sound too enthused. He avoided making eye contact as he walked across the room.
Germain wasn’t sure what she was trying to do by pushing herself up onto the counter, but it certainly accentuated just how short she was. She really was small, but it wasn't like he was going to point that out. Touchy subject. "I'm Germain." He seemed to be looking anywhere but where Kurimu was.
The Birthday Bash | Kurimu | Prologue | Open
Unfortunately for the benefit of everyone involved, Kurimu couldn’t quite remember what the date was. All she knew was that, the day before she woke up, she distinctly remembered making plans to visit home in order to celebrate her sixteenth birthday. Her little sisters had been excited because she was bound to bring some of her newest creations for an impromptu taste testing…But it would seem like time went on and her birthday passed her, so she was sixteen years - and a few days, maybe even months - old.
She certainly didn’t feel any older, let alone look any different, but perhaps that was part of the charm.
Nevertheless, she wanted to celebrate it - if not for herself to feel any older, then to see if she still retained the chops to create ice cream with substandard ingredients. Sure, the milk came in a carton that was sold by a particularly high-end brand, but she had no idea how fresh it was, nor was there an expiry date on the thing…Guess she just had to trust Susan the shark on this one.
So she got to work. Pretty soon, she had a few bowls of mixed flavours like vanilla bean, mango/raspberry and her signature rainbow out on the counter, ready to freeze. This was a test batch to see if the amenities were good enough, and as she hoisted the bowl with the vanilla mix into the freezer, she nudged against the slushie machine, causing it to roll off slightly-
…Huh. Hang on, when was the slushie machine ever mobile? There were wheels on it and all, meaning that it could be moved…And if it could be moved, why?
Germain was doing his best to adjust to life in his new life in the sub, even with the doom and gloom hanging over him and everyone else. They were all distressed, and their host had told them they only had limited provisions. There was plenty to be worried about, but nothing to be done about it. They’d just have to sit back and take it all as it came.
Nothing had happened these last few days, and he hadn’t done much. He’d exercise early in the morning and then go to the library, where he would read. It was quiet, and he’d found a spot where no one would disturb him. His schedule was set. He’d wake up and get in his exercise, eat, then head to the library. He’d only leave to eat or sleep. He’d barely spoken to anyone since the first day.
It was on one of his rare forays from the library that he happened into the kitchen on this day. He whistled the tune of “If I Only Had A Brain” idly, snapping his fingers in time and swaying a little bit as he walked. It was such a little thing, but it really did a lot to calm him down. He waltzed into the kitchen, the thought not occurring to someone that it may already be occupied.
He noticed the girl before anything else, and his song came to an abrupt stop. Did she hear? Probably, it was a bit obvious. He spun around and walked right back out. Well, he stopped in the doorway, looking out into the hallway for a few moments. To leave would be rude of him. And he needed food anyway, so he could just grab something quickly and leave. Sure. Germain looked back over his shoulder tentatively to see the girl before turning back around and heading over to the pantry, without uttering a word.

The Game of Love | Xana Skye | Prologue
Xana looks at the door and closes her eyes with a low groan. “Yeah you can come in… It is a communal room so you really don’t need permission to come in.” She rolls around on her bed just wanting to get in a bit more comfortable position. “There’s a kinda locker room next door, so you don’t have to worry about walking in on someone changing if that’s what your worry is.”
The matchmaker is just really really tired and she just wants to rest. “Just please don’t make to much noise… I feel horrible and I don’t want it getting any worse.”
Germain had missed the locker room, but he’d be sure to take note of it next time he came up. He was more concerned with generally disturbing anyone than specifically someone changing clothes, but he guessed that was good to know. He sighed. “Alright I’m c-coming in.” He gingerly opened the door, peeking in to look around before noticing the girl sleeping on the bed.
“S-Sorry...” Germain shut the door gently behind him. So this was who he’d be sharing a room with, among others? He hoped she wasn’t always this grumpy. He would probably die if one of his roommates was always upset with him. “Y-Yes miss. I was just going to lie down, so don’t mind m-me.” He was barely speaking above a whisper; he really didn’t want to make a bad first impression. Germain made his way over to the bed all the way in the back and climbed in. This really sucked.
The Game of Love | Xana Skye | Prologue
Out of everything she had seen in her short 18 years on this planet that was… definitely the weirdest thing she had ever seen. A talking, monochromatic, southern, shark that goes by the name of Susan. The moment the shark first open’s it’s mouth and begins to talking her hands find her head and she lets out a low groan. She can’t take any more weirdness today or her head will explode…
Susan leaves and so does Xana, already leaving to search the submarine and to clear herself of this massive headache. After searching the entire submarine she comes to a stop in the Crew’s Quarters, after finding her bed and pocketing her ElectroID and key she plops down on her bed with a loud sigh. “Could this day get any worse?”
Germain could feel the rising pit in his stomach. He felt like he was about to cry. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. He really couldn’t stand this. Germain didn’t mind the fact that there was a shark telling them that they were stuck here. He actually found Susan to be pretty cute, if a big unnerving. Their host sounded nice enough, and Germain hated to be rude.
He just wanted to go home, is all.
Germain left the hall quietly, making sure no one noticed his exit. He managed to avoid being seen on the way up until he arrived at the Crew’s Quarters. So... this room was his, huh? He was about to go in before he hesitated. What if someone was already in there? What a terrible first impression it would be if he walked in on someone. He just wanted to curl up in bed, but waiting a few more minutes would beat making an enemy, wouldn’t it? He knocked on the door, waiting for a response? “U-Uhm, I’m s-sorry, but may I c-come in?” What would he do if he got no answer? Wait outside forever, probably. Or at least until someone else came along.
Fish are friends not food - humans on the other fin... [Prologue]
You don’t really know how long it’s been since you and your fifteen other…classmates, probably, gathered in the large meeting room. Some of you ventured out to test the waters - literally - and found that the flooding had stopped; it seemed like the seawater had only risen to the top step of the stairwell from whence you came. What a shame the other doors were locked though, for both the other three rooms on the level as well as the stairway leading up had unmovable doors that no one, not even Grant, could force open. Perhaps something needed to happen first…and happen it did.
It was Xana who first noticed the change. The matchmaker had been looking out the large window that showed the endless emptiness of the dark ocean - but empty no more, however. As she pointed into the distance and shouted, the other students who hadn’t been in the room at the time trickled back in at the sound of her voice. What in the world was she pointing too, anyhow?

No Gods or Kings, Only Man | Germain | Prologue | Open
Nadia smiles and nods as she places her hands on her hips proudly. “Oui! My father died before I was born, but he was French, so my mother named me in honor of him. My first name actually means ‘Hope’, isn’t that sweet?” she asks him. The question was mostly rhetorical- she knew that it was a cute meaning, and she’d continue to tell her acquaintances about it, as she felt kind of proud to have such a nice name.
“Don’t worry too much! I’ll be your rabbit’s foot! As long as I’m here, you’ll be safe from the water, I promise you that!” Nadia looped her arm through Germain’s and smiled up at him warmly. She actually wasn’t sure if she could promise him that kind of safety, but, it was best to think positively. Plus, she usually tended to have pretty good luck when it came to risky situations, so, hopefully her luck would see her through once again.
As he confirmed Nadia’s hopes, the girl began to beam. “That’s so amazing that you do that kind of work! So many people say that they like animals and nature, but, they hardly do anything to contribute. I guess they figure that they don’t have to be the ones out there improving the situation.. they probably think that they don’t have to because someone else will instead. But, if everyone thought that way, nothing would ever get accomplished! So it’s like.. super great that you’re actually actively improving the environment and staying nature-friendly!”
Though, when Germain began to discount himself, Nadia tightened her hug on his arm and pat his shoulder with her free hand. “Oh, stop! Don’t sell yourself so short. I’m sure that you’re plenty qualified! If you weren’t, Hope’s Peak probably wouldn’t have let you into the school! Your skill must be evident to be a student there. Believe in yourself more!” Nadia didn’t want to sound like she was scolding the poor boy, so she kept her tone very lighthearted and flashed Germain a kind smile.
Oh? He wants to know her talent? Hmm. That will be a tiny bit awkward, considering what she just said about only people with great ability getting into the school. But, she can’t really take it back now!
“Ah… well. About that… I’m actually just a Super High School Level Good luck student! You know how Hope’s Peak has that annual raffle when they pick a random untalented student from a normal high school in Japan, and they offer that student the opportunity to study at the academy and live among the important kids? Well..! That’s me. I was selected due to my luck.” Nadia tilted her head and gave Germain’s arm another small squeeze. “That’s why I said that I could be your lucky rabbit’s foot! I’m completely untalented, and my only gift is luck! So, like, who better than me for the good luck charm, right?” Nadia giggled as she finished her reasoning. The words she was saying would’ve come off sounding incredibly bitter if she had used a negative tone, but, due to her peppy disposition- she didn’t really sound all that upset at all over it. Her cheerful tone, paired with her smiles, confirmed that she didn’t seem to care much about not having an actual talent.
Hope… how fitting. Germain couldn’t help but smile; Nadia’s positivity was certainly leaving him a bit more hopeful. “That’s such a nice story… y-your name is certainly special. H-Hope. At Hope’s Peak. They even n-named the place after you.” He chuckled a little. He never really thought about his name that much. It was French, yeah, but… that was about all he knew. Germain. Shorten it to Germ.
He flinched as Nadia looped into his arm at first. Calm down. He looked down at her and smiled back, letting himself relax. You’re too tense. No need to be so worried. He let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding. “You’re right… you’re right. Being n-negative won’t get us anywhere.” Germain was gonna do his best to keep a clear head. He loosened a little bit. “W-Wow, I feel safer already.” He tried his best to give a sly grin. A lame attempt at a joke, but he still laughed a little bit. He thought it was funny. That was something he needed right now.
Germain could only smile bashfully as Nadia talked about his work; even if he didn’t give himself enough credit, he still thought this work was important. “I mean, it isn’t much but… yeah! It’s really an important thing, taking care of the natural world, y’know? We all live here, so we all gotta pitch in and pick up the slack. The environment isn’t gonna fix itself. Right? Yeah.” He was actually getting a little excited, letting his thoughts just come out. “Thanks… Wow. You really care about this kind of stuff. It’s important to everyone, but not everyone cares as much about it as they should.” Germain was starting to like talking to Nadia.
“A-Ah, I guess you’re right. About the school and all.” He looked down at his feet. Germain didn’t exactly place much credence in the decisions of the ambiguous dark overlords of Hope’s Peak. Who were they to determine what qualified as “talent?” He shrugged. Germain felt a little bad, listening to Nadia. Had he done something wrong? She clearly didn’t sound like she was mad at him or anything of the sort, quite the opposite even. No, he was just being oversensitive. And she had a point. Conservation was pretty important to the world as a whole, and Germain could give himself some more credit. Maybe. That wasn’t an issue he wanted to address right now. Germain looked up from his feet and laughed a little bit to lighten the mood. “Th-that’s awful nice of you to say. I’ll try to remember that.”
So she really was a live good luck charm. “That’s pretty interesting!” Germain knew a little bit about the lottery, but hadn’t really thought much about how one of his classmates would’ve won it. He did sort of think it challenged that idea of the school being for the most qualified like Nadia had just said, but he wasn’t about to say that! Besides, it’s not like he cared. Talented, untalented? Isn’t what kind of person you are more important? “Th-that logic’s pretty sound. Never met someone who could call themselves an actual good luck charm before.” Nadia was certainly cheerful about all this. He couldn’t help but giggle with her.
Germain pouted. “Well, I don’t think it’s fair to say you’re completely untalented! I’m sure you’re… extremely talented. Who’s Hope’s Peak to determine who’s talented or not?” A bit hypocritical, coming from him. He was fully aware, but he was sure Nadia was selling herself short. “About the lottery though, did you live in Japan? I-I mean I don’t want to pry but I’m just curious is all.”
No Gods or Kings, Only Man | Germain | Prologue | Open
Germain Bonheur. That was an unusual name. Nadia liked it though. Unusual names were a lot easier for her to remember than ordinary names.
“Oh! That’s a cool name. It’s nice to meet you, Germain.” Nadia followed Germain’s lead to side step out of the center of the threshold to allow room for anybody else who rushes in at last minute.
When Germain asked where they are, Nadia felt a little sad that she couldn’t give him a good answer. She simply shook her head and shrugged her shoulder. “…Sorry. I have no idea.” Nadia afforded the blond a weak smile. “I’m just as confused as you are… Honestly, I feel a little scared, but, there’s no point in being negative- y’know? We just have to stay optimistic, and things will turn out fine! I mean.. we’re okay for right now. When that water makes its way into this room? Then I’ll panic. Not until then though.”
Nadia thought this guy was pretty fun to talk to. He seemed nice. Maybe a little reserved, but, nice!
“A conservationist? That’s really good! I think it’s important to keep nature clean. Do you have any efforts for getting pollution out of the ocean? Or to save forests from being cut down? When I think about animal’s environments being ruined because of people’s carelessness.. it makes me feel really sad!” Nadia frowned but she didn’t stay down for long. In a few moments, she perked back up.
“That’s such a cool talent, and so beneficial for everyone too! Will you teach me about it? Conservation!” Nadia asked, her arms raised up in front of her in anticipation. She seemed to be vibrating.
Germain stared at Nadia. She seemed awfully energetic and upbeat, all things considered. It was a confusing reaction, but Germain actually found it better than if she’d been as worried as he was. It was almost reassuring.
“Ah, I’m glad you like it! Y-your name is nice too! Is it French?" It sounded French. He wasn’t sure though, might as well ask. There’s a lot you can tell about a person from a name, so he was curious.
Germain’s shoulders dropped. He didn’t know why he expected her to have more of a clue than he did. It was disappointing. “That’s alright. I don’t think anyone knows.”
Her outlook was certainly positive. Germain couldn’t fault her in that; he wished he could be as positive as she was. Nadia was scared, but she was able to remain calm (at least for now). He nodded along in agreement with what she was saying.
“Yeah. Y-yeah. I’m scared too.” He didn’t want to be pessimistic and ruin her vibe. “As long as the water doesn’t come in here... I hope you’re right.”
And before he knew it she was asking him about his talent. Gosh, she was saying so many nice things, Germain was starting to blush. He grinned tentatively. “Golly. Yeah, I’ve been involved in a few projects to get rid of p-pollution in the oceans... p-provide habitats for marine animals and such, y’know?” He chuckled. Nadia was very passionate about this. Was she vibrating?
It was nice to see people who care about the environment, even in a place like this. There were more pressing matters, but Germain could distract himself with this for awhile. “You really care about nature, from the sounds of it! I... I mean I guess I could teach you s-some things. If there’s anything you w-want to know. I just take part in the projects though. I know people who’d be a lot more qualified than me. But well, you c-can’t really get to them given the... Never mind.”
He perked up. That’s right! Hope’s Peak students. “Oh, sorry! I never asked. Why’re you here? Uhm. Your t-talent, that is. What do you... What’d you do?”

Nadia had arrived in the room only a few moments before this guy- whoever he is- but Nadia could tell that he seemed a little uncomfortable. That was understandable.. some of the other students here didn’t seem too nice. This just wouldn’t do- Nadia decided to try her best to help this guy out and make him feel a little bit more… welcome here. Wherever here is.
The brunette bounced over and extended a hand to the stranger. “Hi there! Glad to see you made it here safely! What’s your name? I’m Nadia Covais.” assuming that Germain decides to give Nadia his hand, she will give him a firm, but warm handshake.
After concluding the shake and giving Germain another grin, she rested her hands on her hips and shrugged her shoulder.
“I guess you don’t have any idea what’s going on here either, huh?” she asked him with a small sigh. Nadia was definitely worried about the flooding, but, was there any point in being negative about it? No. Probably not.
Wherever they are, someone probably knows that there is a flooding problem. Help will likely be here soon!
So, for right now, it would be best just to wait. Perhaps time would be better spent talking about other subjects- just to take their minds off of what everyone just witnessed.
“Sooo.. what do you do?” she asked slowly.
Germain was still getting his grips on the situation when Nadia went up to him. Just who were all these people? He’d just woken up and was nearly drowned, and now he was faced with a bunch of strange people. It was all going so fast that it took him a few moments to register the girl standing in front of him.
She was talking to him. Yes, there was no doubt about it. He was really the only person in her general vicinity. He took her hand, though admittedly less firmly than she had his, and shook it. “Oh gee, thanks. I’m Germain Bonheur.” She seemed rather optimistic. Maybe she hadn’t had the same experience he had, what with the flooding and all? No, that was unlikely.
He stepped out of the way of the door, not wanting to get out of the way of anyone who would come in after him, and looked back at her. She had sort of grabbed Germain’s attention; starting a conversation with him will do that. His shoulders dropped, and he looked down to his boots. “Afraid not, miss. This place... it’s flooding, but that’s all I know.” If she didn’t know, he doubted there was hope of help from the other cats in here.
“So... where are we?” A stupid question, he regretted asking it. The fact was that this place was gonna be filled with water before long, no matter where it was. Nothing to be done but hold out that hope that someone would come to their rescue.
“What do I do?” What was that supposed to mean? Was she asking where he was going to go from here? What was his job? That didn’t exactly make a lot of sense. Unless...
He looked around the room again, finally seeing at everyone. They were all teenagers, like him. That was a bit odd. Germain scratched his neck for a minute before he realized what was happening. He was supposed to be going to Hope’s Peak. Yet he’d ended up here, with a bunch of other kids around his age. Nadia was asking for his talent, wasn’t she?
He straightened his back and turned his attention back to Nadia. “Oh! I’m a... I’m a conservationist. Yeah.” He finally realized what was happening. Nadia, and the rest of them were probably Hope’s Peak students too.
