Some friends have asked if I ship Persephone and Mia. I’m going to be honest and tell you rn: Persephone is perceptive when it comes to watching people to see their next move or scoping out danger. But relationships??? I’m not gonna lie: She wouldn’t know where to start, ok? If you tell her to tell you who she loves, she’ll show you a picture of her dog, Giet. PS: That picture of a family that Renee received? Totally her. Persephone used to be a redhead. As to why she dyed her hair white? BECAUSE FUCK YOU THAT’S WHY! Because….she likes white hair and we don’t know.   I could see Mia and Persephone being a thing though. IF ONE OF THEM WOULD MAKE THE FIRST MOVE. Incredible…. BTW: You guys were hella. Well, if I've been dead, I don't matter| Endgame

Honestly, Persephone wasn’t sure what to make of…any of this. They were dead the whole time? She couldn’t move on? It honestly didn’t seem ‘fair’, given how she, like others, were killed during this game. But, she didn’t make the rules. Looking at the other ‘living’ kids, she sighed before standing near the ‘dead’ and waiting. 

"I…don’ really understan’ it, but I guess it means I won’ remember shit, so why should I care, I guess? I’m to be…toyed with over an’ over, completely against my will…"

She sighed and looked to Pascal. It was his fault she was going to be stuck here forever, but who was she to talk? She wouldn’t remember this later. Additionally, it wasn’t as if she was an integral part in all of this. Not…really.  

"You’ll probably never remember us, bu’ try. Because, some of us were less fortunate than ya’all. Because some’a us didn’ give into despair: We were jus’ at tha wron’ place at tha wrong time…bye, then…."

None of what she said had meaning anyway. She would forget it, as would they.

Join the rp that will be the closest DR crossover to an actual JRPG video game. With twists at every turn, will you be able to go back to reality? Or will you die in this virtual hell?

Hikaru could at the least smile at what she said, it was kind of comforting to him that even death didn’t change a person too much. How? He wasn’t totally sure that it was the right feeling but it wasn’t something he could change. Or any of them for that matter. So, it was just a nice thought, all he could really do at the thought was still have the same smile so.

"I’ve seen both of them pretty recently, but things have been pretty hectic for everyone I guess."

He looked up for a moment to think about hwo to answer her other question.

"Eh, considering everything that’s happened to us…. I’m fine actually."

He held up one arm, the one lacking the sleeve at this point. The old scars were certainly visible to one who was looking, but nothing new. 

"Well… I did lose this at one point… Not a pleasant experience but… Least no injuries."

Thinking back to the actual incident, he had been practically crying in panic hadn’t he. What? It had been scary back then. He hadn’t expected the thing to try to bite him…

"You okay too?"

Persephone's eyes widened as she looked at the arm Hikaru held up. She cared fot him, even if their interactions were so few. And, as she reached over for him for a moment, Persephone withdrew. Oh right, of course. She was dead, right? There was no way she could display the sense of touch with him. Instead, Persephone kept that shocked expression as she crossed her arms. 

"Who hurt ya? I'll give 'em a piece a' my mind!"

She did not look happy now, even if his wounds seemed old. The boy needed to live. Seeing him hurt, even if it was previously, hurt Persephone. She took a deep breath before going on. 

"Now you see here, darlin'! Y'need taa be more careful! But, at tha same time, know when ta put up yer dukes, ya follow?"

She nodded to herself before going on. Yes, yes this made so much sense. Um, ok: Whatever you say, you weird bounty hunter. 

"More importantly, ya need ta survive. Ya need ta survive this whole mess, okay darlin? Yer one'a the few good'ns left, from what I've been able ta see. Ah...have ya been eatin' regularly? You always look so thin when I see ya."

Oh, right. He asked about her. Persephone sighed before going on. 

"It's ok I guess. 'snot pleasant, bein' dead, but it's not tha worst. Wish I could find Bambi though. Apologize for...not protectin' him, as his roommate'n all..."

Persephone was far too kind. She was too forgiving, too lenient on Pascal. He didn’t deserve… she should be angry, she should be upset. He took her LIFE, how could he ever be forgiven?

But she was forgiving him. It hurt. Rather than make Pascal feel better, less guilty, it just made him feel like he’s messed up even worse, killing such a girl like this. She hadn’t deserved to die. She had a family who cared about her… like his parents… His words grew more saddened, more choked as he spoke, more angry, not at her but himself.

"I… I’m sorry… you didn’t deserve to die… Mayu… she was an accident… Mia… she sacrificed herself, I didn’t ask her to, although it was my fault, it wasn’t my choice… but you… I… I killed you on purpose… Just because… I thought you could have been the mole… I’m sorry… you deserved… to live… I…"

Tears were flowing freely down his face, wetting the ground he still bent over. He’d been so reduced from his proud self before, so changed…

Her request… he thought about it. It was all he could do to live, right…? To get out of here alive, to find their parents… and tell them… their children were dead… that… he’d killed them…

Could he really do it…? Could he survive this, could he face his victim’s parents, pass on their dying requests? Well, after all… he was the super high school level mailman, right? If he couldn’t deliver such important messages, he didn’t deserve his title.

"Yeah… I… I’ll do that… I… I can… who… what do you want me to do for you…?"

He asked softly, quietly, still kneeling on the ground, eyes closed in solemn determination.

Persephone nodded at his words. She had been absent after all, right? There was a point in time where she just kept to herself and spoke to no one. The time for murders, when she was actually there. It hurt, seeing what she saw. It hurt so much, but there was nothing that could be done. Honestly, Pascal's suspicion of her wasn't surprising. No, not in the least.

"I...holed m'self up in m'room after...after Bambi up 'n died. I promised to protec' him and...a-as his roommate, it was my responsibility. That day, I failed bein' a good Bounty Hunter. Tha' day, my title was meanin'less."

A strong girl like Persephone crying? That must have seemed odd really, yet here she was. The day she found him was too much for her to bear. Instead of going to trial like the rest of them, Persephone ran from Hikaru when he tried to console her (and Mia), only to remain in her room for days. She felt less than human in her last month of living.   Finally, Persephone stopped sniffling enough to speak. She wiped her tears, the pain digging into her neck. But she couldn't cry for long, right?

"I...I broke m'promise to protec' ya'all. When Bambi up'n died like that, I fel' responsible, since he was m'roommate. So I kep' away from the others in m'room. 'Cuz I couldn' face any'a ya. Cuz I...I couldn't sit by'n watch my other friends die, one by one. Because I've been so useless."

Persephone bit down hard on her lower lip as she spoke. She willed herself not to cry anymore, only for blood to trickle down her lip in the process. Her job included surveilance, but she failed. And now... Wait, a request? For her? He'd...he'd really do that?

"...M'pop lives in Santa Fe, Texas. Tha's in 'Murica. His name's Ricardo Artino, an' he looks like this..." 

Persephone paused for a moment to show him a photograph. It was a recent picture, it seemed, which she pulled out of he bra. She was smiling next to a man with long black hair in a ponytail and a beard. Right at Persephone's feet in the picture was a big Collie who looked young and healthy.

"Go up to 'em an' tell 'em what ya did. Pop'll probably tell ya to take care'a Giet, my hound. Jus...give him a good home, ok? An' tell my pop'n Giet that I said I love 'em ta death."

She paused for a second, finishing her words. She was a girl who worried so much about family and a friendly dog. It was written all over her face. 

"...They were all I had."

Pascal stood there, rigid yet somehow stooped before the ghost of his victim, eyes diverted and hands clenched into nervous fists. He felt miserable, angry at himself for doing what he did.

Her question hit him right where it hurt, like a punch to the gut that knocked all the wind out of him. Was it worth it? It might have been, if he’d gotten out, if he’d at least gotten Ricardo out. But he hadn’t. He’d managed to screw everything over, refuse his reward, and let three innocents die for his sake. And she asked if it was worth it? It wasn’t worth anything, it was pointless, useless, all he’d done was succumb to the will of this hell.

He clenched his teeth, shaking a bit. There were tears starting to well up in his eyes, but he squeezed them shut, soon dropping to the ground in front of Persephone on his kneed, bowing.

"I… I’m sorry…! I… I messed up… you can’t— can’t forgive me, I know… but I’m sorry… it… it was pointless… everything… I fucked everything… I’m sorry… I’m so, so sorry…!"

He was loud, heartfelt, possibly sadder than he’d ever expressed before. Pascal normally wasn’t like this… he was usually stronger, prouder… he’d grown weak, tired, no longer craving power and instead just wanting retribution, the safety of the ones he loved and himself. Maybe he didn’t want to live with his guilt, but he also didn’t want to die.

Persephone sighed as she watched the boy begin his blubbering. She wasn't a bully: At least, Persephone never thought that she was. She'd always been the kind of girl who helped others and treated friends how they would like to be treated. On top of all of this? Persephone was taught by her father to kill everyone with kindness, regardless of they did.  But, could she give the same sort of leniencies to someone who killed her friends? To someone who killed her? Before she spoke, Persephone gasped for a moment, a dark red burn appearing on her neck. She cringed as scratch marks were later added to her neck, but did her best to keep calm. Deep breaths, Persephone. Deep breaths: You have to talk to the boy. 

"I really don' think I'm the main person ya should apologize to. I'm talkin' bout Mia. Mia an' Maya actually..."

She looked like she was having a little trouble breathing, but Persephone still persevered. She had to, after all. She had to teach this boy a lesson, no matter what. 

"...Fac' of tha matter is, I'm not mad at ya fer killin' me. It kinda hurt this lil' girl's feelin's tha' I won' be able ta see my pop 'er dog again, but tha's life, ain't it? It's in tha pas, 'n I can' go back now."

She sighed once more before finding her words again. This time, her expression showed pity once more. Pity and pain. 

"I thin' ya know what ya gotta do ta fix this, Pascal. Ya gotta live 'an ya gotta go ta Mia 'n Maya. Ya gotta offer to play messager to folks they care most abou'. C'n ya do that? I've already forgiven you. Because honestly, if you don' at least live, then I'm not sure I c'n forgive ya."

Was is selfish not to console him? Probably a little, but Persephone needed to be heard. And, upon finding the pain on her neck, the girl found it hard to pay much attention to Pascal's groveling.

  It was still weird to hear the dead people’s voices, that part was certainly for sure wasn’t it? Honestly… It kind of startled him, and he’d already had a conversation and seen and heard them about at this point.

Though… Even so it was still weird… Hearing people you never expected to see again.

Upon hearing Persephone’s voice he did try to look around, eventually spotting here. It had been… Well a really long time since they’d spoken right? 

"Artino-san?"

He asked, like there was any real doubt it was her to be honest. But it felt just about right. 

"You looking around for something?" 

He asked, her words having brought up some thought of looking for something, not quite getting the exact thing she was talking about though. A bad habit or just bad attention? He has no idea, but he’d take it. Since conversation was getting harder and harder to make with everyone.

Persephone's mouth curled up in a smile upon seeing the boy. She missed him, this guy. Hikaru was always so kind to her in life, wasn't he? He was like aa younger brother, who she wanted to remain safe. Of course, they weren't super close, but that was fine.  Scratching her chin, Persephone shook her head at Hikaru's question after a moment of thought. But then, she gave him a weird look. Yes, maybe she had been looking for something? Ah well: Details, details. 

"I was lookin' for anyone, really. I missed folks, you know? I was lookin' fer you, Dai an Anaki. At leas', I think I was. Heh. How've ya been holdin' up though?"

Yup. Death didn't change her at all. whoops.

  As soon as Pascal heard the announcement, his stomach dropped. There was no way it could be real, right…? After all, ghosts were ghosts, and they’d been invisible up to this point… although, then again, it seemed anything was possible in this place.

Of course the obvious thoughts went through his head; how a lot of the ghosts would likely be angry at him, how he might have to face what he had done, who he had killed, but there was one thought that drowned it all out— Kohaku. He could see him again… Kohaku… he had to find Kohaku, even if the boy hated him, he needed to show him how he was doing, how he was still living…

And so he went off to search for him, trying to avoid the other spirits, even if they were ones he wouldn’t mind talking to. But then, he heard a voice, an accent he certainly hadn’t wanted to. One of the people he’d killed, the one he’d killed on purpose, simply because she was a suspect for mole and the more he thought about it the more he thought it was wrong, he was wrong.

He didn’t want to face Persephone. He didn’t want to face his mistakes, his faults… but slowly, he turned towards her. As much as he didn’t want to, he did want to apologize. If he could even do that. He didn’t think she would accept his apologies, didn’t expect her to; but still, he needed to try saying it. Try to relieve just a tiny bit of the stinging guilt that he’d thought he’d suppressed but was so, so clear.

"…. P- Artino…" 

It took all his strength to keep a straight, serious face, to form words in his mouth and force them out in a soft voice. He needed to face her, even if he didn’t want to, even if she didn’t want to.

There was a pain in her arm, but Persephone ignored it as she saw the boy before her. So he was the one: He was the guy responsible for two deaths. Persephone should be furious, right? She should be angry that she was dead, upset that he ended her life.  Because of him, Persephone would never see papa Ricardo or Giet ever again. The fact his 'accomplice' was named 'Ricardo' should sicken her too. But it didn't. She wasn't mad at him for killing her. She was mad because of poor Mia and Maya's demise. She was mad for them!  Persephone shifted nervously as she looked at Pascal, her eyes going from his to the floor. A moment of silence was now between them as Persephone twiddled with her fingers. And then, she finally spoke. Her tone wasn't angry as she looked back into his eyes. She only gave him a look of pity. 

"Wa...wazzit worth killin' em, Pascal?"

Pity was all she could afford to give him now.

I'm hope I don't scare anyone too much, but um...sorry for not doing replies I've...been hurt pretty badly. Not bad enough to go to the hospital, but bad enough to where typing, even this, is physically painful. I'm really sorry. ;u;

She couldn’t stop shivering when she heard the announcement. Persephone honestly thought that she would never get to talk to any of the living members again. It was nice to see that they were given a sort of reprieve. Yes, at first she shivered. At first, she was scared, as Persephone knew that those who were alive would remember her for the corpse that she left behind.  Honestly, it was a disgusting corpse. She looked so disgusting and revolting. It hurt to see herself so pale and forced to smile. And, to learn of those who orchestrated such an event? Well, while she couldn’t bring herself to hate Ricardo and Pascal, she couldn’t quite love them either. But the thing was, she wasn’t upset because of her death, no.  Persephone was upset because of the other deaths. The deaths of a particular diplomat and Mia. She wasn’t familiar with the first person, but Mia was someone Persephone cared for quite a bit. She would give Ricardo and Pascal a handful for that, if she bumped into them. But her rage would be a quiet kind. It would sneak up on them.  …The best part about being so calm and collected was having a certain type of anger sneak up on an unsuspecting person or two. But for now, Persephone wouldn’t focus on that. She let out a small sigh as she took a deep breath of the air around her. Persephone still didn’t understand how she could do human things while dead, or get injured, but perhaps it didn’t matter. Regardless, Persephone spoke to no one in particular as she walked towards the archives. Whether or not someone was nearby, Persephone still spoke in her usual, warm hearted tone. 

"It’s so nice, ou’, ya know? I’mma miss this, if us dead folk ever up an’ disappear. Bu’ tha’s ok."

A bit dismal from the sounds of things, but if you heard her tone of voice, she didn’t seem somber. Rather, Persephone seemed calm and matter of fact. These were things that she’d never see again, if one day this ‘being here and dead’ thing wore off. Maybe she’d see some ‘light’ and disappear? Who could say?
