As they got summoned by a frightened-sounding Dai, Akki’s stomach twisted in knots.. The smaller male took Mordecai’s hand in his, to reassure them both, as they went to where they were called to. Akki knew that something unpleasant was in store, but this…

Akki’s grip on Mordecai’s hand tightened as he inhaled deeply. Even before any noise came from his lips, tears started flowing from his eyes as he gazed upon the surreal sight. Minako. The lovely, confidant lady with whom he shared his first date event in this place. Although Akki didn’t know her well, she had left a good impression on him. Someone he definitely wanted as a friend… and now… seeing her like this, his face paled as the reality sunk in.  They were not safe here. This was not a dream. As blissful as the last few days had been for Akki, the truth decided to hit all of them as hard as it could, it seemed.  One of them was a murderer. Potentially, one of his friends was a murderer… someone he’s meant to feel safe and at ease with took a life and his, or god forbid, Mordecai’s could be next.  As the rose-tinted world shattered around him, Akki moved behind Mordecai to cling to his back, letting out a few faint sobs for the lost life.

“ I kn-knew her… M-mmorde…. sh…she was a-alive, I …. shh-she…”

He rambled through his sobs as his grip tightened around his lover. He didn’t want to let him go now, or ever. They were no longer safe. He no longer felt safe.

Prologue // Open Starter // Akki 'I couldn't think of a pun' Akagi

Tegan shrugs. “A little bit.” He admits as they climb the stairs. “When I first came here, learning the language was pretty intimidating. The culture shock was also pretty intense.” 

“I was lucky to meet a friend who was really good with language to help me. He’s graduated now…but it’s thanks to him that I picked up Japanese so well.” Tegan says with a smile. Now that he mentions it…Tegan does have a pretty distinct accent if you pay attention to the way he talks.

Peeking over Akki’s shoulder at the map, Tegan grins. “Sweet. It’s good to know that someone I talk to is nearby.” He says. 

“Is there anything you wanted to check out on this floor?” Tegan asks. There seems to be a lot more to see in comparison to the floor below it.

Akki, was… honestly very confused. He never really thought that much about snacks. Akki’s thoughts on them stopped at ‘this is tasty’, so hearing someone describe them in such a… posh way was a little odd. Not in a bad way, but it caught Akki off guard. He shyly accepted the chips that Tarou got him, nodding softly with a grateful smile. When the other spoke again, the smaller male sighed a little in relief. Those words were actually something he could wrap his head around and reply to! 

“Y-yes, yes, e-exactly! I d-don’t… use vv…vending machines o-often, ss..so the lack of thh..the need for coins w-was thh-throwing me off, haha… Th-thank you.”

“Ah!  I get what you’re saying!  You must be the type to load up your IC card and use that as your currency, right?”

He, of course, referring to popular IC card system countrywide that made paying for trains, buses, and most general transactions as easy as touch of the card.  After loading it up, it was one beep away from making the necessity of scrounging for coins practically meaningless.

“Hm…”

He had a closer look at Akki’s choice gear and wondered just if he carried a wallet or not.  No doubt it’d be bulging out of his rear if he did so and Akki appeared to be generally fashionable so.

“Aren’t you… chilly at all?”

He asked rather frankly for Tarou.  He waved his hands around to sort of dismiss the comment.

``A-Ah.  I’m sorry!  That was kind of forward!  I just uh.  I’unno.  If I was wearing something like that, I think I’d get a little chilly, that’s all.”

This coming from the guy with a hoodie, a sweater, and a button-up all, of course.  That said, he hoped Akki would take his commentary with a grain of salt.

“Y-yeah, you got me.”

Akki chuckled softly. Well, this conversation seemed to be turning out to be quite normal. Akki felt a bit more at ease now as he opened his can of pringles, but didn’t have them yet, as Tarou asked him a question. 

“N-no no, it’s o-okay. I sssuppose I’m j-just used t..to the cold, it d-doesn’t bb…bother me as m-much.”

He said calmly then eyed the other’s clothes. Akki couldn’t help but giggle softly when he noted all the layers on Tarou.

“B-but looking at yy-you m-makes mme want t..to have a ss..sweater on. Y-you look vv..very cozy.”

He said honestly.

“Wh..when I was y..younger, I a-always wwwanted t-o have o..one of those sss-sweaters th..that were t-too large for me. S-so much sso that mmm-my hands w-would get lost i-in thh-the sleeves aa-and th…the turtleneck w-would c..cover hh-half my face. A s-silly thh..thing to want, b…but I th-thought I c-culd j-just hide in it a-and be ss-safe, l-like a turtle.”

Akki had a point… He looked down at his ensemble and noticed that he was indeed wearing three different layers!  A hoodie/blazer type set up, a sweater beneath that, and a dress shirt beneath that!  No doubt underneath all that was a tank of some kind.  At least if anyone needed a shirt, he could provide many and still remain decent.

Akki’s story was touching.  He was curious to hear more.

``Did you ever happen to get that turtleneck?”

Akki seemed to blank out after Dai and Suki stopped talking. The voices of his friends and acquaintances seemed to drown out as he stared absentmindedly into the distance, as if he was no longer there with them. This was so cruel… 

They all came here to find love and friendship, and now are being told that the only way out was to kill each other. The small male had no will to fight, to protest… no will to yell or blame anyone. His life had always been a bit on the miserable side, wasn’t it? It would almost be fitting to end up dead in a place like this. No, he shouldn’t think that. He should have a bit more hope in these people. After all, no one -has- to kill. They were not in immediate danger and no one was pointing guns at their faces. Their fates were completely in their hands. So long as no one acts rash, they can all just… take their time and find a way to escape, right?

“Ai-chan is… r-rrright. Wwwe all… n-need to ssstay calm. There is nn..no immediate d-danger to us.”

Akki spoke up a bit louder, though his voice was calm and dull. 

“We all.. n-need to… mmmake rules. N-noone shh..should walk around a-alone. P-please… have fffaith in e-eachother a…and th..the outside world.”

He took in a deep, shaky breath. It was so hard to remain calm, but he had to. He had to… Crying and yelling would not help. No one was going to hear them way out here. 

“F-for nowww we j-just need to…. c-calm down… cc…calm down… c…calm…”

Rule Number Two: Akki and Fiyero

Akki was easily twirled, seeing as the small man weighed so little and wasn’t all that strong. Added bonus of being taken by surprise and you have one twirling Akki. Once he had his bearings, though, Akki stopped it and took a step back from the other. He frowned softly.

“Thh..things are j-just ssso easy for you…”

He mumbled and sighed under his breath. Not that Akki was jealous, he was simply annoyed by Fy’s ignorance. He dismisses things he doesn’t care about so easily, as if they didn’t exist… what a small world this man must live in. Akki almost fell sorry for him. 

“W-we’re here… jj-just in time f-for… b-breakfast.”

Akki informed the other with little passion in his tone.

“No way, it’s like, so hard to be me. Really. There’s, like, so many shows, and the paparazzi can be, like, a total pain sometimes.” With a dramatic sigh, he laughed. “I guess someone has to handle it.” 

“But really, like, lighten up! Don’t take things so seriously. Not like any of it matters anyway.” With another laugh, he grabbed his hand again. “I mean, we’re all just here to have fun, right?” 

Holding open the door with his heal, he winked back to him. “After you. sweetheart. You know, you remind me of a dove.”

“W-wow, y-y-your contry sssounds l-like a fairytale! N-no wonder y-you llook l-like from one y-yourself.”

Akki chuckled softly. He hoped that Bland would take his words as a compliment, because he truly meant them as such. 

“I-is thh..the country magical too?~”

 Well, now he was making a lighthearted joke, but somehow Akki wouldn’t be surprised if Bland could somehow grant wishes or tell fortunes. Or, well, he would, but it would sort of make sense in a way.

Bland looked up at Akki. He honestly hadn’t expected to hear that from the other. Sure this was a dating event,but Bland kept forgetting that. Don’t ask how,he just forgets a lot.

“But Liechtenstein is my home country. Where I was born. And yes there are castles. Our royal family still lives in one actually.”

Akki smiled sweetly at Morde as he got let in and after nodding in gratitude, he entered the other’s room. It felt odd, since their rooms were pretty much the same, save for a few personal items they brought in themselves. After walking in a few steps, Akki awkwardly fidgeted, not sure where to go to sit or stand… He nervously looked back at the other.

“Th-thank you fffor i-inviting mmme in ahh…whh..where sh-should I umm.. s-sit?”

Mordecai let the door fall shut behind them, he proceeded over to his desk to pick up his notebook. He looked over to Akki when he spoke.

“No need to thank me, but you’re welcome!” He held his notebook in his hands now. “Oh! Anywhere is fine, I’m not picky- but there is only one chair.. maybe the bed or floor?”

Akki considered the floor, but that wasn’t very comfortable. A bed, though... was it okay to invite himself on it like that? But... friends did that, right? Just casually sit on beds and talk while looking at photos. This should be normal and Akki should treat it as normal. Deciding to do just that, he sat down on the bed and smiled up at the taller male, though a bit shyly.

“Y...you really d-don’t mind shh-showing me your nn-notebook? Those things a..are a bit p-p-personal, aren’t they?”

He asked, just wanting to be doubly sure Mordecai was ok with all of this.

“But really. Why would I get upset if someone, like, makes fun of me? They’re just jealous because I’m popular. It’s always, like, the popular kids the haters go after anyway. It’s not my fault I’m pretty and fun.”

Akki replied cheerfully as he leaned back from the water and scooted away a little from the edge of the pool. Better safe than sorry!

“H-hope you hh…have been doing w-well too? N..nnnoone c-causing trouble in the ch-chat?”

‘When didn’t the chat have trouble?’ Bland thought to himself. 

“Well,no one is trying to make trouble on purpose at least.” 

He lifted up the bottom of the dress a bit before sitting down near Akki. 

“But,I’ve been good. People have been really nice so far.” 

Bland brushed his hair back a bit. 

“The castle has been nothing short of amazing. And the mountains remind me of Liechtenstein. Have you been liking the castle so far?”

Akki got startled when a voice suddenly spoke from behind him. His face reddened a little, as if he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar or something. But this was fine, right? This was allowed.  He calmed his startled heart and turned to look at the other, just in time to hear his question. Oh, it was Tarou. He hadn’t seen the guy much in the chat and this was the first time they met face to face. He seemed quite pleasant and helpful, though. Useful traits, considering the other’s talent.  Akki gave him a soft smile then looked back at the vending machine.

“U-umm… ch-chips. I l-like ch..chips…”

He answered, a bit quietly. Or maybe the TV was just too loud?

“P-pringles T-texas b….barbeque s-ssauce!”

He said the flavour far more eagerly.

Chips.  Versatile, accessible by all, and… crunchy!  One’s preference in desserts did tend to say a lot about their personality.  There were those curve balls where big, thuggish looking characters would buy something delicate and light like a pudding cub and insist that it was for their girlfriend, but Tarou always knew the truth.

“Ah!  Pringles!  They’re always coming out with inventive flavors, huh?  The beef consumé flavor has been pretty in the season if I recall correctly.  Something about it’s umami in comparison to the general saltiness of the classic, regular variety…”

He was sounding like some sort of snack expert or something… Such was hardly the case!  He just… well, he knew a lot about snacks!  He pressed the appropriate button on some chips that weren’t so specific in variety, but likely close in flavor profile.  They hit the tray at the bottom lightly and he took them out, holding it out for Akki to take.

``Man… it almost feels like I’m stealing.  Sort of want to toss some change somewhere, you know what I mean?”

The way he was speaking was as if he was already very familiar with Akki despite having just met.

Akki happily returned the invitation with a soft nod.

“If you d-don’t mind? W…we c-can ggo n-now. H-hope I’m n-nnot intruding.”

“Don’t worry, you’re not intruding at all!” He shook his head, and clapped his hands together infront of him. “That all sounds fantastic, I’ll have to take you up on the offer!”

Mordecai proceeded to the door, waiting for the smaller boy to catch up and held it open for him.

Akki allowed his hand to be taken, if only for a short time. He smiled softly at Fy’s excitement. Well, yes, most people like watching TV, though they probably liked different types of shows. Still, he decided to just let the other enjoy the moment… until he brought up youtube again. Akki quickly pulled his hand back.

“N-no! I d-ddo not want to! P-please, u-understand!”

He rose his voice just a little bit. Not enough for it to be a yell, but enough to make it obvious he was frustrated.

“But…like, why?” 

“It would be so much fun! We could make one of your charm things on camera, you’re so cute it would be a hit!” 

This made, like, no sense. At all. Why would you not want to be on camera? A chance to be famous, be popular! It made no sense, at all. This guy had it all. He was cute, the voice would be nice if he stopped doing the fake stutter thingy, his eyes were big, and the charm thing would make a super cute segment.  By the end of this he was so going to make him want to be on.

“Fine, if you don’t want to, I can’t, like, make you.” Tilting his head, he started to smile again. “Can I do something with your charms though?”
