GAME OVER SHIN WATANABE AND HOSEKI ONO FOUND GUILTY COMMEMCING EXECUTION…
Dancing with Despair
The lights raise slowly on the elegant ballroom of the chateau, entirely empty except for the solitary silhouette of a couple, dancing slowly in time with a slow orchestral tune that drifts faintly from an unidentifiable source within the room. As the lights settle to a dim, somewhat romantic glow, you can make out that the couple dancing is none other than the masterminds behind this whole occurrence; Shin Watanabe and Hoseki Ono, holding eye contact with one another as they move slowly within the center of the dancefloor. However, you begin to notice a faint ticking from just beneath the music, and with this you notice the countdown timer on the chandelier in the center of the ceiling, changing slowly from 60 seconds to 59. 58. 57. 56…
They don’t seem to mind though. They are completely absorbed in one another. If you look closely, they even seem to be carrying on a conversation. But as the time dwindles further down, you notice something peculiar; the ground, around the walls of the room… they seem to be cracking. Slowly, almost undetectably, they begin to grow more and more apparent as small portions of the floor begin to… cave in? They are…
But the couple move no faster. They move in time with the music and the countdown, which seems to be escalating in volume with each moment that comes and goes. The floor continues to crumble, until you notice through the gaps that there is a deep, deep pitfall underneath, with almost no echo as tiles and slabs of the ground fall away, more so as the timer continues its countdown. The ticking grows louder and louder, almost to deafening levels over the music, but continues to guide the despair duo as they dance their final dance.
As the countdown reaches the final ten, enough of the floor is gone for you to see tall, sharp spikes lining the bottom of the pitfall, appearing more and more menacing as more floor gives away. The seconds seem to last eternities, and the manner in which each one passes is almost an eerie peacefulness until Shin an Hoseki stop altogether, smiling at each other for a brief moment before holding on tightly to one another. They remain motionless as the remainder of the supporting floor around them gives way, sending them off their feet as they take the plunge into the deep pit below, with no struggle. As you hear the sickening tear of metal through flesh, the timer ceases entirely, blinking an unsettling bright red ‘1’ as the air settles over the area. There is not a single sound as you view into the gaping maw that once was the ballroom. Pierced through in a horrific manner, are the now deceased masterminds of this horrific mutual killing game you have all miraculously endured.
Shin Watanabe and Hoseki Ono, have been executed.
My contribution
A heavy, anxious silence filled the trial room as the deafening sound of a gun went off, the source of the noise to be none other than Hoseki Ono, standing completely still as she stared at Espy as he fell to the ground with a sickening thud. No one moved. No one dared to breathe. What just….happened?
"…" "…"
Suddenly, a low chuckle comes to your attention. You almost didn’t notice it, but the sickeningly wide grin on Shin’s face made you think twice about your previous accusation. "Hmm…" He begins snickering, Hoseki giggling along with him, and it finally turns into fits of hysterical laughter. Everyone pales, their mouths falling open. Before you or anyone can say anything, a cloud of red smoke envelopes the two cackling suspects, shrouding them entirely from your view. "Ah, seems we’ve been found out, dearest!" You hear Hoseki giggle. The smoke clears, the poor few within its vicinity coughing at the overwhelming smell, but the space where the suspected couple once stood is now… empty? Everyone looks about feverishly, but the first who decide on asking Monobear turn to look at the space, gasping and pointing their finger. "L-Look!"
Sitting comfortably atop Monobear’s perch is the despairing duo, Hoseki sitting lovingly in Shin’s lap, both grinning down upon the remainder of their ‘children’ as they received a mixture of horrified and enraged visages. Shin chuckled and shook his head.
"Surprised? My goodness… we would have hoped that at least a few of you would have been onto us…" He sighed, nuzzling his head against Hoseki’s chest, "No fun at all…"
Hoseki simply giggled at the affection given to her and smoothed out the hair on the top of Shin’s head, lulling him into a more content and restful state.
"The fun is just beginning dear…" She said into his ear, smiling before looking out at their lovely remaining ‘children’.
“But I agree with my love. You naughty little children couldn’t figure it out quick enough, ufufufu… Mitsuru is the only smart one….well, WAS anyway~!” She giggled hysterically before placing a kiss on the top of Shin’s head. Her expression changed drastically when she began to pet Shin’s head slowly. “And poor Sakamoto… being in the wrong place at the wrong time…I did like the spineless coward, but he heard too much too soon…”
Shin sighed, listening to Hoseki as he watched the faces amid the handful of remaining students before another wicked grin came to. “True, darling…” He mumbled, chuckling as he replayed the vulgar scene of the hypnotist’s demise in his mind, wrapping his arms tighter around Hoseki’s waist.
"You pathetic bastards should have seen the son of a bitch when I bashed his skull in… Ah, what a sight! But bad children deserve punishment… Children should never put their hands on mommy…" He sang, then stroking Hoseki’s thigh with a sigh.
Hoseki stopped her giggling for a brief moment before bringing a hand up to her shoulder that had been stabbed through by Mitsuru and sighed with a small frown. Didn’t see the stab wound? Ah, the wonderful world of stage make-up!
"It was a surprise really…But something was bound to happen, right? Ufufufu…ah, but it’s not my fault he stepped in front of the bat 27 times~…"
Shin chuckles softly and nuzzles her more, grinning out at the handful of students left before them.
"Nor is it mine… aha, or is it? Oh well… that naughty child is gone now… as well as the other one, up past his bedtime. Wrong place at the wrong time if you ask me…"
"Ah, no matter. You little fuckers know now, ah? It was us… we are the ones who locked you up in here! It’s been so fun, too, watching you all grow up… discover who you really.. are…"
He give a dejected sigh and rest back in his seat smirking at the five below.
"Alrighty then… you have questions, I know. Go ahead and ask them… while you still can, that is…"
Rune thinks the gash is really suspicious so he takes a few of the hairs he found just in crucial evidence and makes his way down to the kitchen. Does he find anything on his way to the kitchen that may be considered out of place?
And on the third floor, suspiciously not noticed by Mamoru while he was just on that floor investigating, Rune would find a horrifying, grisly sight.

Body Discovery
As we near the end of what could be not only your last week in the chateau, but also of your life, most of you have been on the wire. This week… this motive… it’s definite life or death. And while this latest addition to the chateau has indeed shed some light on the identities of your captors, you also know it isn’t enough to make a solid accusation toward any one possible culprit. But, this doesn’t stop you! You can feel it; you know there has got to be something to help pinpoint the true identity of the powers behind this. And so, you decide to head upstairs, to further analyze this new floor at the top of the chateau.
But of course the moment you enter the hall, you step in a puddle. Why is that so important? Because it isn’t like the roof is leaking. No. You just stepped in a puddle of blood. But as you look upon the scene before you, you find the puddle almost turn into a lake, and laying on the edge…

GAME OVER JAMIE FENN HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY COMMENCING EXECUTION Crowbar Effect
In the middle of an empty living room, belonging to an empty mansion. It’s been abandoned for what seems like a decade or two, Jamie looks around his surroundings. The floor creaks, wallpaper is peeling, and there are insects crawling along the walls. It’s the kind of house you would see in horror movies or paranormal investigation shows. Looking behind him, he sees the double doors he had just entered from, then turns to look ahead of him again to see the fireplaces in the middle of the wall, on both sides of it are bookshelves filled completely with books of different sizes. He makes his way to one of the two doors to the corridor that will take him to the stairs. The hinges squeak as the door opens and he makes his way to the next door, opening it up to reveal the long staircase. Blood is splattered along the walls, but the ghostwriter simply ignores it and makes his way up to the next floor.
A wrong foot placement causes a step to break; Jamie watches as his leg goes through the hole, wincing a bit at the sudden pain, then calmly pulls it back out to continue up. The cuts in the wood and nails scrape him and cause a cut in his leg, Jamie pays no mind to the blood dripping down his leg or the cut in his jeans as he continues to walk up the stairs. Creaking and groaning of old wood fills up the otherwise empty space, it’s cold as if a ghost were there, taking in any warm air that makes it into the mansion. A setting like that begs for ghosts and demons to follow you around, as that is exactly what might be going on. As he reaches the top of the staircase, he lets out a breath of exhaustion before pushing the door open to reveal another room.
The young author goes his way through the empty and blood splattered hallway. The aura of the room feeling more eerie than the last, the feeling of someone following him growing stronger. Shrugging it off, he proceeds to the end of the path. A dead end covered in thick blood. Disappointed in his findings, he turns to leave, stopping in his tracks as he sees something almost demon like blocking his path, a figure looking like the night holding a crowbar over its head. It didn’t take a genius to know what was to come next. As the demon struck, Jamie pushed past it, beginning to run back to the stairs, sure that whatever the thing was was definitely following him, and fast.
He pushed the door open and began to run down the stairs, keeping good footing although he was running downhill on steps. So close the end of the stairs…just a bit more…His foot goes to step down on the next step, but goes straight through. The broken step. Jamie had completely forgotten about it. He falls on his face on the next couple of steps, breaking his nose. Fuck, he really could not let this happen at the moment. He pushes himself up and spends a few seconds getting his rather sore leg out of the hole, blood dripping from his nose, which is beginning to swell, down onto his pants. He gets his leg out just in time, as the demon was right behind him and about to strike again. Running down the next few steps, hissing through the pain, he goes to open the door to get out of the corridor, just to find that the door locked. He considers breaking it down to escape, but just as that thought goes through his mind, a shadow looms over him.
Cornered now with a broken nose and what feels like a dislocated hip from his fall, Jamie has nowhere to go. He looks up to the figure, a shaky smile stretching across his face, laughing under his breath. This wasn’t the way he was meant to go, he was supposed to live longer. Tears begin to fall from his eyes as he attempts to bear through the pain. The demon, about half a foot taller than him brings the crowbar back up and with one swift movement, whacks the boy on the head with the teeth of the weapon, digging into his skull. Jamie’s body falls to the ground with a thud, blood coming from his head pooling around him and slipping through the spots in the wood. The demon dissipates, the crowbar landing by Jamie’s body.

MOTIVE 5 ANNOUNCEMENT
With the trial of Ana Luiza Barboza and the somewhat unforeseen murder of Tomio Miyamoto, most if not all secrets have been revealed or discarded, bonds formed or broken, and some form of security or comfort granted or ripped away from the captives of the chateau. While things have been admittedly calmer, you find it an almost eerie calm, practically on the edge of your seat as you wait. You know it’s going to happen, it normally does… it has so far…
"Hello hello hello!~ It’s your friendly neighborhood Monobear, here to give you the good news! Please report to the dining room ASAP!" But of course! You had to be right… with a begrudged sigh you make your way to the predesignated location, but what you find upon arrival may surprise you. Stacked corner to corner, as high as possible atop the dining room table, are bricks upon bricks of paper money. You don’t understand… where did all of this come from? And where is Monobear to explain this..? You hear a muffled string of sounds come from somewhere in the room, when suddenly, your latter question is answered via an eruption from the top of the pyramid.
”HELLOOOOOOO, BASTARDS!” Landing on his feet before you all a midst a shower of bills is Monobear himself, cackling happily. “Good evening, darling bastards! Have you all been doing okay? I don’t care.” Monobear begins to walk around idly, picking up stray bills. But not so much picking them up as sucking them into his paw.
"But I do know something everyone cares about… MONEY!" He says this and aims his paw at a random student, a newly made brick shooting out and slamming against the wall behind them. Monobear merely cackles once again and returns to what he was previously doing.
”I may be a pretty rough bear on you dumb shits sometimes, but I have to admit, at least you bastards can kill someone with purpose! So… I say it’s time you get a little allowance. Well. One of you, that is.”
"You may have noticed it by now, but here in this room there is more money than most of you bastards have probably seen in your entire lives! Where I got it doesn’t matter, but how YOU get it does! If you want all this dough, one of you has to PROVE to me you have to guts kill again! In other words… who ever can get away with murder not only gets to leave with their life… but also with this vast wealth!" As Monobear gives you the latest motive, he merely laughs quietly to himself, continuing to vacuum the mess scattered about the dining room floor. Should you leave now..? "… And a freebie." Monobear doesn’t pause, doesn’t miss a beat as he continues to clean.
"If you haven’t noticed by now, you have got to be stupider than dirt, but… I have been making plenty of slip ups lately, hm? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice… shame on me. Or should I say… us."
"As penitence for being such a mean bear, I will go ahead and tell you fucks… there is more than one of us. Who? Who knows. We could be scary scientists watching you all squirm and writhe like the worthless little deviants you are… we could be some super criminals holding you all as hostages to get back at society for giving such a bad example for our youth… hell, we could even be among you as we speak. But, who’s to say you should believe me? I AM just a cute little bear after all… aren’t I? Upupu…"
"But, believe me or don’t. Which ever you choose… will only lead you closer to your true fate in this chateau. Upupupupu, upupupu!~ Ta-ta, bastards…"
Closed- Espy Malone
When Espy slid the book he had been looking at closer to Mamoru, Mamoru took it and placed it in front of himself to look over, moving the book he had just opened out of the way. He skimmed the paragraphs that mentioned demons for a few minutes, though he didn’t find anything particularly useful in here. It wasn’t a very in depth section either. After another moment, Mamoru shut the book and slid it between them. “I can’t find anything-”
Suddenly, Espy fell out of his chair and onto the floor, startling Mamoru enough for him to jump to his feet. “Espy?” he said his name with concern laced in his tone as he took the few steps around Espy’s chair to kneel next to him, where he found Espy sleeping peacefully. He gave a small sigh, remembering Espy as a narcoleptic, though this is the first time he’s witnessed Espy collapse with nothing around to supposedly trigger it. Despite remembering this fact, it still worried him enough to check his pulse and breathing just to confirm that he’s alright.
Afterwards, he looked from Espy to the chair he had just fallen out of. It may take a few minutes for Espy to wake up. He doesn’t want to leave him in a heap on the floor, but there really isn’t any place to put him. The floor must be incredibly uncomfortable, though. After brief consideration, Mamoru slid off his shirt- considering that he wears about three layers- and balled it up before sliding it under Espy’s head, leaving him in a sleeveless striped shirt. There is really nothing else he can do aside from wait, so Mamoru grabbed the closest book on the table and remained seated next to Espy until he wakes up.
Espy stayed asleep peacefully for what must have been 10 or 20 minutes before he began to stir. Gradually, Espy opened his eyes and blinked a few times. When his eyesight focused, he realized that he was still in the library. Slowly he sat up, and picked up the cloth on the floor to inspect it. It was under his head, but he didn’t recall it being there when he fell.. Espy soon noticed that it wasn’t just cloth- it’s actually Mamoru’s shirt. Espy turned around and saw that Mamoru was sitting down next to him, reading the pages of one of the books. Espy rubbed his head gently as he scooted closer to Mamoru, handing his shirt back to him. “ Sorry about that..” he says with an apologetic smile. “ Thank you for watching out for me..”
Espy slowly stood up, his body a little wobbly, and sat himself back into one of the chairs at the table. He looked over at Mamoru’s books and then to Mamoru. “ Have you made any new discoveries?” he asked quietly as he reached for another book- this one seemed to be some sort of guidance youth bible. Espy couldn’t find too much in-depth information in that either, but he decided to keep it in his hoodie pocket. Maybe reading some devotionals will help him stay calm.. and demons probably aren’t crazy about being near holy objects either. Espy kicked his feet a little as he contemplated his options. He wishes there was a way to get on the internet- then their research would be a whole lot easier! They could also get help if they had the internet..
Espy looked back to Mamoru and tilted his head a little. “ Do you think we should just.. head back to our rooms for the night? It’s getting pretty close to night time. We can continue our research tomorrow, if you want to.”
Closed- Espy Malone
“There’s no way of knowing how many memories we’ve lost. At least, not that I can think of right now.” Mamoru trailed his hand towards one of the book on the table and idly messed with the edge of its cover as he thought. He agreed with Espy that he must have made that playlist for him, but the fact that it was still on his ipod must have meant something. He’s made playlists for other people before, and he’d only put them on his ipod as a temporary measure before deleting them, since they only took up space. Well, he finds Espy important currently, so he must have similarly found Espy to be very important to him before. But how could he forget something like that?
When Espy cut himself off, Mamoru returned his attention to Espy. Why there are unfamiliar items in our- their… belongings? His puzzlement was only brief. After comprehending Espy’s reaction, the piece fell into place fairly quickly. So that’s it. The anal lube. He didn’t call attention to it and instead tried to seek a way to move the subject on and away from that. Though, that and Espy. Who did Espy…? Did Espy use it for himself? Regardless, Espy in any such situation… No. No, no.
Espy’s whisper dragged Mamoru from his thoughts, to which he nodded and brought out the final unopened letter. “I’ll open it right now.” He tore it open, took out the note, and unfolded it. Blue numbers were scrawled in the center, depicting mathematical equations. There was a doodle at the side, still in blue ink, which were labelled as ‘Espy’, ‘Rune’, and ‘Mamoru’. For a moment, the small doodle held his attention. His hair looked very… straight in that picture. Very spikey. He didn’t need to name at the top of the page to know it was from Espy. Honestly, he wasn’t surprised to see Rune depicted, considering Rune’s and Espy’s relation currently. Perhaps subconscious memories were at play here…
Mamoru handed the note off to Espy, “It belongs to you.” After giving the note to Espy, Mamoru glanced to the book that Espy had opened before looking over to one of the books he had picked out. “Have you found anything useful?” He asked as he flipped open the book nearest to him. He scanned the table of contents until he found something of the subject he was looking for and flipped to it. Hopefully this book had some useful information inside. At least one of them should.
Espy felt a little bit of dread spring up in his gut when Mamoru passed him the note, saying it was his. Espy wasn’t sure what to expect anymore, honestly. When he opened the note, he discovered that all the paper had on it was just math equations and some doodles. It made him feel relieved. He was worried that the note would be embarrassing or alarming in some way.. but, no. Just.. crumpled, unfinished math homework. Espy brought the paper up closer to his face and realized that he had doodled himself, along with Rune and Mamoru on one side of the paper, and a dream catcher on the other side of the paper. This was from.. some time in the past, before all of their memories were...erased...? Taken..?
Espy wasn’t sure of anything anymore, except for the fact that the time they can’t remember must have been a pretty significant length of time.. and they must have been at school..! Espy would never try to solve mathematical equations for fun. It had to have been for a class, and he seemed to be pretty close with both Rune and Mamoru, if this doodle is taken into consideration..
Espy glanced back up at Mamoru as he folded the paper back up and slipped it into his pocket. He realized that Mamoru was asking about the book after just a few seconds of lag. “ Oh, uhm..” Espy glanced back down at his book and nodded as he scanned the page. “ Y-Yeah... there is some information about demons in this book, but.. I’m kind of scared to read too much about them..” Espy bit down on his tongue gently as he contemplated before sliding the book over to Mamoru so he could see it for himself. The section on demons was pretty small in comparison to most of the other sections in the book, but it did happen to mention common abilities such as super strength, clairvoyance, and the ability to put curses on people. It also talked a little about how to summon them, but there was not much on how to get rid of them, unfortunately.
Espy opened up another book as Mamoru scanned over his. Espy looked at the table of contents and flipped through the pages of the book, only to find it said the same basic things as the other book said. He didn’t spend much time reading about it before Espy felt himself growing weak. He shut his eyes for only a second, in order to regain his focus.
Then, Espy toppled over, spilling out of his chair and onto the floor. It wasn’t a cataplexy attack, luckily, and he wasn’t triggered by anything- it was simply a wave of narcolepsy. Espy would appear to be peacefully sleeping to any onlookers, and it was a rather comforting sight compared to the usual fearful, paralyzed looks he gave during his cataplexy attacks.
False memories implanted into the brains of sleeping mice
Neuroscientists in France have implanted false memories into the brains of sleeping mice. Using electrodes to directly stimulate and record the activity of nerve cells, they created artificial associative memories that persisted while the animals snoozed and then influenced their behaviour when they awoke.
Manipulating memories by tinkering with brain cells is becoming routine in neuroscience labs. Last year, one team of researchers used a technique called optogenetics to label the cells encoding fearful memories in the mouse brain and to switch the memories on and off, and another used it to identify the cells encoding positive and negative emotional memories, so that they could convert positive memories into negative ones, and vice versa.
The new work, published in the journal Nature Neuroscience, shows for the first time that artificial memories can be implanted into the brains of sleeping animals. It also provides more details about how populations of nerve cells encode spatial memories, and about the important role that sleep plays in making such memories stronger.
