so i can't stick around long but i'm thinking about fe:a au... gosh

of COURSE zenas is royalty but ze has the birth mark on zir back which inhibits zir pride. like. ze can't show off the biological, concrete proof that ze's royal and this annoys zir more than anything

ze's really bad at swordfighting too but ze's pretty good at using a bow and arrow. but again ze is annoyed because swordfighting is the Royal and True style of fighting even though ze goes into battle with a bow and arrow anyway. ze doesn't train with those and trains with a sword instead but still sucks. it's because ze's so tiny and zir sword is too big for zir but it's the FAMILY SWORD ze can't just HAVE A NEW ONE????

ahh stubborn zenas in charge of an army getting all cocky and confident in zirself even tho the tactician is better than zir when it comes to decisions... but shh... don't say that... you'll hurt zir feelings

Eh..? What was this, some kind of hypothetical fairy-tale scenario? What was the appeal of imagining the fall of mankind to the hands of the dead, anyway..? There was a reason why they were all dead in the first place-

"No, is there a need for me to? Will something happen if I do not?"

Who was that?  Why!  Surely that was the familiar face of a good old friend lighting up in the dark of the crowd.  How did Yua Himura manage to spot zir in the first place?  Maybe it was a little pang of nostalgia, or the glistening hair.  Probably both.

“…Ayers-san?  In the croud?  Maybe my mind is just swirling again…”

Despite the assorted pinches of doubt, Yua didn’t hesitate to unravel the little surprise mystery-  Was she dreaming up her old friend, or was this all in the flesh?

In no time, Yua was clumsily pushing past the wave of crowds-  Occasionally calling out to Zenas with her so-familiar, bright sing-song tone.

“Zeeeeenaas-sama?  M’pretty sure my eyes are jus’ playing tricks on me at this point..!  Is that really you!?”

At first, Zenas couldn't make out the girl bouncing towards zir - what was that ruckus in the crowd? Was someone moving a big stuffed toy or something? But no, the radiation of warmth and cuddliness was none other than... Yua, that was it, Yua!

Ze new that ze should be feeling a welling warmth in zir chest from seeing zir friend again, but something was hesitant, holding a hand out to Yua in a somewhat cold and distant manner. Cold and distant... was what ze wanted to be.

"No, it is I! I am certain my eyes are the ones tricking me; I did not expect to see you again-"

Why? Because ze left for so long and dedicated zirself to anything but socialising tat ze expected all of zir friends to back off and leave?

"But it is a pleasure to, do not mistake me."

Though she had only arrived earlier in the day, Nessy already felt numb to the idea of being in new places or meeting new people. It generally wasn’t something she did very often, but even when she absolutely had to it was never able to cause any sort of expression on her face other than absolute disgust. She just…didn’t see the need in worrying or being nervous.

So of course when she saw someone standing there, completely still and silent….She was starting to feel even more annoyed than usual. An introduction was bound to happen eventually…So why did ze just get on with it? She wasn’t someone for idle conversation, and she especially didn’t enjoy starting something she had no intention on finishing.

Very reluctantly, Nessy opened her mouth to speak to the who she had yet to learn was a princen, tone quiet and frail yet somehow forceful and almost creepy.

"…Excuse me…? If you’re going to…introduce yourself…then do it already…I’m not going to wait all…day you know…so please get on…with it…Who are you?"

... rude! Zenas tensed up from the other person interrupting zir cool facade. The hostility that she used towards zir was unnecessary! And ze was royalty, that was no way to speak to zir!

Zenas inhaled sharply through zir nose and clenched zir gloved hands. After ze introduced zirself this girl would feel foolish and get put in her place, for sure. Maybe it would even give zir some confidence.

"I was not planning on introducing myself, since there is very little point. I am not interested in socialising or making friends with any of you. I am here for my education- which I could have easily had back at home--"

But zir father insisted on having 'life experience' in another country to increase Zenas' importance in 'global affairs'. Which was total bullshit, by the way.

"If you are so eager, I am Zenas Ayers, of the Kingdom of Arkbourg, the next rightful heir. There is the introduction for you."

Erzulie watched the new young royal for a little bit. Ze had so much presence, and didn’t look like ze belonged, but they looked… Lost. So, taking a deep breath in, the girl made her way over to the other a bit nervously.

"Hey," she said softly, clasping her hands behind her back somewhat. "I don’t think I’ve ever seen your face around here… Are you new?" Her question was a bit hesitant, as though she wasn’t exactly sure which tone to use. "My name is Erzulie Julion."

Oh God, oh no, a person, who was breathing and stuff, and wasn't using very short sentences to know whether Zenas wanted a tiny glass of wine or not.

"Hello." Right. That was the first step. Zenas could carry on from there. The conversation basis was laid out. "I am. New, that is. To the school. From Europe." Short sentences were... still sentences. It was fine. "My name is Zenas Ayers. But you must address me in a more proper way, Miss- Julion."

As far as introductions went, Zenas was quite good. In fact, ze had pride in zir ability to speak to new people and mingle and make a good first impression. At least, in front of royalty.

But when faced with introducing zir peers as a student transferring right in the middle of the damn year like some sort of inconvenience, ze was lost for words. How do you talk to teenagers? -- ze didn't. Ze never did.

So ze remained silent , aloof, hoping that the other students would take this as a sign of zir superiority over them and not nervousness. And ze hoped - ze prayed - no one would actually come over and try to talk to zir first.
