Some say that a great wedding photographer is a near impossible-to-balance mix of many different kinds. Tadashi Matsuo is becoming a clear argument against that supposed impossibility. Whether it’s aesthetic shots outside, close ups of all the finer touches that were so carefully picked by the organisers, or simple but stunning portraits of the happy couple- Tadashi’s able to capture it all for you. With the ability to record a day, a ceremony, a bond in a wide range of unique styles, and standing out as a strong choice on a global network of wedding photographers even before he started to be hired by celebrities, it’s perhaps no wonder that ‘Matsuo’ is now a go-to name in Japan for recording the start of a couple’s next special stage in life.
And what of the second recently condemned? What was Tadashi Matsuo doing in the face of all that was happening, from sudden personality back and forths to the appearance of those he had no clue of name or face for to ha ha ha holy fucking SHIT he WAS right in NOT getting executed right in your fucking FACE, BASICALLY EVERYONE?
even though tadashi’s stated opinions in that early game conversation they had about friends and such in a murder game early chapter 2 went absolutely down the shitter with other people (fun fact yuuf: dash and miko were dating when you told me veronica thought they were friends, oops), tadashi stayed remarkably neutral on veronica the whole time. honestly he set out with a lot of respect for her, which actually never really died- he was very glad that she was the very first person he talked to in this strange new situation, rather than someone losing their mind completely, and instantly pegged her as someone who might be useful and reliable to keep in contact with to logically figure this out.Â
and he just..... stayed like that, really? at the time their chapter two discussion happened tadashi was still very much on the train of all he said there, and the fact that veronica seemed to both agree with him AND not be looking to push... whatever the fuck they had any deeper ramped up the respect for her really. it actually did make him break his arm’s distance approach to the conversation to find out just how much she was like him, by asking if she would be looking to make friends with these people outside of the game- she differed from him there, at the time, but it didn’t shake him too much. can’t have it all right. anyway who caresÂ
that said veronica DID actually dodge a massive bullet with tadashi too, around chapter 5- if tadashi hadn’t learnt previously via his secret being delivered that the whole situation with his parents was an accident, he ABSOLUTELY would not have believed veronica’s explanation of her secret being an accidental situation, and likely would have drifted away from sharing too much with her in the idea that she’d totally kill again and who better than someone in his position right lol. he may have still come out of that situation a little warier in canon just because she’d proved she could kill someone, but it could have been worse, and his opinion didn’t shift much at all.
tadashi never really had a drive to push things much further with veronica because of their shared stance to not make friends etc in a murder game, even with the respect for her. him inviting her to play with him in the arcade was, admittedly, more a shittest of ‘oh this’ll be fucking hilarious to see’ rather than any desire to get to know her better- even if he did actually enjoy himself, really. he might still have killed her, if only under her possibly showing some signs of turning on him in the future or something, but honestly she was never very high up on the list. even though they weren’t close, per se, she balanced out at being someone tadashi considered too useful to lose, considering....... the vast majority of the class here to him lmao.Â
and okay. her cracking up when he rubbed a piece of evidence in haruna’s face did amuse him also. maybe they were a bit more like each other, but he never really went looking to dig into it.Â
short opinion: Best Allies Forever who may have been a little bit better at getting along than tadashi ever wished to dig into outside of just large amounts of respect.Â
he’d be up for talking to her outside of the game still now though. if only out of interest to see what she might be really like outside of everything they discussed.
you know what let’s just go from the very top here.Â
so ryan legitimately did start with an advantage over the rest of the class in that tadashi a) knew them from something he was actually into and more crucially b) was actually interested in talking to them. truthfully he wasn’t entirely sure how it was going to go, especially as he was talking actually from his heart and thus had no reason to try force any kind of persona with them, which he knew was generally a bad idea for him- but he found it went really well, and actually very relaxed. that was a theme that would actually continue with them, and keep tadashi with a very good opinion of them as they continued to talk: the whole thing felt very surface level, which was something that tadashi appreciated about ryan greatly- they never tried to press in to something deeper in getting to know him, to the point where they found getting more serious weird, and tadashi was more than happy to keep just bullshitting as they were at the time.
tadashi did have a... slightly wary opinion of ryan for a while though, however. actually right up until they outright admitted they were friends. while he would have absolutely called them a good person to be around at any point (the ‘friend’ word was hard) and did absolutely enjoy talking to and hanging around them throughout the whole thing (even directly following pranks), the fact was that it... was surface level, at least in tadashi’s view of it. tadashi admittedly had absolutely zero clue whether ryan was actually being serious in times like when they lightly texted that they’d cry if he died, and tadashi, being a guy to always jump to the worst case scenario, could often just come back with the thought that he was just more entertainment for ryan than like, an actual proper person they liked or whatever. which y’know, he guessed was fine, this was ryan ‘faking is possibly my middle name’ roe and he himself was weird about getting more serious it was fine how it wasÂ
besides. he hadn’t actually had a friend like that nor as himself before, and even if he didn’t realise too much, he........ very much enjoyed that, actually.Â
he was so relieved that ryan wasn’t the mastermind even before they confirmed they actually did very much give a shit about him too though you have no idea. though if ryan was - which he was debating trying to fish out in that first panic over seeing them so much in that video - tadashi was absolutely ready to fully commit to stall plan and actually offer to strike a deal with ryan to get them out alive. which speaks volumes for ryan’s place in tadashi’s weird selfish bubble, really. even if he still wasn’t entirely sure that they held genuine care for him, tadashi at that point was much more open to the concept of liking and wanting other people in his life without that necessarily being terrible, and he... really really wanted to keep ryan around. he had a lot of fun with them, even just in texting bullshit, and couldn’t quite wrap his head around the idea of them not being there.Â
chapter 8′s Friendship Confession meant a whole fucking lot to him too, especially as he was the one that shouted it out first- again, tadashi ‘worst case scenario’ matsuo expecting to have it confirmed that ryan just saw this all as entertainment after all. but having it confirmed that they did actually feel properly friendly too felt so so warm in a way that dash hadn’t felt too much before at all- sure, he’d had some friendship (and more) confirmations at that point, but ryan was particularly special honestly, because you know....... he was, in bad moments, doubting whether his place with them was legit at all. (no fault of ryan’s; tadashi’s just very bad at relationships and thoughts on them.) so to find out that they weren’t planning on ditching him any time soon actually felt really good- especially as he’d started out on this as himself, lol. so they actually also helped him commit to getting rid of that fake personality everyone seemed to prefer.
tadashi legitimately does feel absolutely terrible over the events of chapter 9 on ryan’s behalf. it all got a bit messy in ways that tadashi had never felt before, in regards to pangs of feeling genuinely bad for them- tadashi was actually telling the truth at that point when he was discovered: he really hadn’t wanted anyone else apart from him involved, not even the accomplices he did have, but it was harder to hide from the shojis than ryan. when he’d tried to kill last chapter, miko had picked up a lot of grief just for moving a fucking dumpster of all things, and tadashi... really did want to avoid dragging people he gave very many shits about into it for the same kind of thing. especially as he didn’t know what happened if the wrong person who WASNT the victim was voted on for sure.
plus, he felt like he had a pretty careful timeline plan going on here, and ryan......... while he DOES very much appreciate you...... he has to admit you feel like a bit of a wildcard. (even though at one point, several murder plans involved texting ryan ‘hey lol could you smash up some random location for me’)
tadashi only kept ryan’s page in his notebook (as opposed to ripping it out like miko’s) because they had a lot of skills and information (like people’s handwriting) that he felt the need to keep track of in case. he legitimately never would have considered killing ryan. would also really very much like to make up with them too, and possibly explain everything if they’ll hear him out, so at least he won’t be as scared of approaching them again as he might be if he had been executed. he really did mean it when he said he had no intention of taking the friendship statement back if he couldn’t help it, though he’ll understand if they need time. he kinda gets the idea of being stung in relationships, and is kinda mortified to have been on the other end of that for someone.Â
he’s never going to get used to that motorbike though.
short opinion: a surface-level friend who all of a sudden got very very real .
but that’s not bad at all. actually very very much the opposite.Â
okay okay truth be told tadashi didn’t give too much of a shit about haruna early on. he TRIED, that’s for sure, but in the same vein as he was trying with everyone damn else (save for ryan, who escaped from ^-^ at the speed of light)- though admittedly, he kinda gathered she was going to be a bit of a stubborn one right from the baseball event. whatever. not like he hasn’t seen stubborn people before. i think it took until trial 1 and her sudden grief over, as tadashi would put it, ‘boo hoo my poor ‘friend’ who i’ve known for a week also kill ryan’ that he started to realise Oh Shit- and then past that with shit parent bingo, something that stung tadashi hardcore given his OWN crappy situation he didnt feel the need to air out, it all kinda just started to go to hell.Â
it’s kinda hilarious because for a time, tadashi actually still figured that haruna might have been one of the more tolerable ones around, solely because she didn’t seem as emotional as some of the others here kinda like how he saw veronica (enough to rig the doomed nightwatch groups he made to put himself with haruna and kanon, two people he thought at the time MAY have been better to spend six hours getting to work with, and something that is now hilarious to me). but over time as haruna started to get more and more personally invested in a way tadashi just saw as... completely self centred and just acting on her absolute own interests and agendas to hear what she wanted (and kinda shiftily, at points), she just..... started to get more and more exasperating in tadashi’s eyes.
yes he’s a bit of a hypocrite. but somehow tadashi differentiates his attention seeking from what he thinks hers could be, because he’s not into dragging things back round to him in the same bullshit way, he reckons.
his opinion on haruna was completely dead by the time ch6 rolled round i think, with the final nail in the coffin being her calling sarara completely harmless and ruling her out instantly- any kind of respect tadashi was trying to hang onto for the sake of not completely snapping and ruining the illusion of being civil just up and died and he couldn’t do it any more because holy shit what a hilarious point that only someone absolutely not thinking would say. at that point he just dropped any and all remaining scraps of effort because he really just. didnt see haruna as worth it.Â
you know it’s bad when tadashi matsuo goes ‘i wont kill you, but only because it would be way too fucking obvious’.Â
short opinion: did actually try, but then got really tired, and she’s just someone he sees as entirely focused on herself and her troubles and bending things to make them draw back to her troubles.
also haha he’s not getting executed despite you making things up suck it
yuka’s still pretty neutral actually yeah. in all honest yuka never ever really moved past neutral, even though she does fall into the same exasperated-at pit that ailani does for ‘literally why was this fucking necessary’ (except softer, because she wasn’t the killer, but not too much softer). as soon as miko explained to tadashi what she knew about yuka on merge day she had the rather dubious honour of falling into the group of ‘people tadashi wants to get on the good side of in order to have some safe spot/influence’, because he’s a piece of shit. he was rather focused on getting to know how to run a conversation with her in the best manner (more so than he usually was to keep up ^-^, anyway), but that was... actually pretty much it in terms of his opinion. she was just kinda there, and apparently a big deal in investigation at the very least, and that basically formed how he acted towards her rather than any real opinion.
he did hold a bit of appreciation towards her though for dropping in the fact that she knew him and his work. even if it was based in a field he still very much held disdain for at the time, a compliment on his work is still a compliment on his work and him lmaoÂ
absolutely no qualms about pretending he wasn’t involved with miko to rig getting on the same nightwatch shift as her. oops.Â
also he finds it fucking hilarious that she thought ayato was the one dating miko for a time thank you for the validation their ‘’’’’secret pact’’’’’’ was workingÂ
short opinion: should probably get on the good side of but that’s really all he cared about rather than the actual gal herself so apparently neutralÂ
wouldn’t turn her down if she DID actually call in need of wedding shit mind. she’s not that fucked up in rank here.Â
jamie has the privilege (?) of hovering in that weird group of people that tadashi feels ‘i could probably talk to them well enough but i’m just not going to fucking bother’ on. only meeting jamie post merge helped tadashi’s opinion of him, as tadashi was being talked into the idea of getting to know people and as himself from like ch4 onwards- if tadashi had come into knowing jamie still trying to force himself to become his ^-^ persona, he would have had to try find jamie’s comments towards things far less amusing (and would probably have still failed, but yknow, it’s the principle).
jamie’s a bit of a blank slate towards tadashi too, save for some sympathy towards him for their idiot classmates when some of them wanted to vote him as genta’s killer despite evidence and pre-trial talking. there’s a level of understanding towards the guy that cropped up towards the last few trials in terms of being just bored with the entire damn thing and all its dramatics, and he did get a few snorts of laughter himself out of jamie’s own comments towards haruna, but tadashi just... never really acted upon any sense he may have had to talk. nothing really in a bad opinion against jamie: his only real crime was not falling into the natural group tadashi had accidentally found himself in at that point.Â
jamie was never particularly too high up on the order of people tadashi would look to kill - if only because there were people he reckoned he could or would kill much easier through dislike or availability - but he wasn’t particularly low down either. tadashi was wondering if the ninth trial would have turned to accusing jamie for the notes, if ai hadn’t texted him, but he wouldn’t have been too bothered following that path even if he does have some appreciation or weird form of shared bitterness/tiredness respect for him.Â
short opinion: I Understand But Wasn’t In A Position To Care Too Much
might show up to a class reunion or something to talk to jamie properly when they’re not both tired to shit.Â
michiko shoji: the one here with the (vaguely dubious) honour of having to put in the least amount of effort to get tadashi matsuo on her side, and also the record holder of ‘shortest time a notes page has existed’ (ten minutes).Â
for a long time michiko was just some kind of distant presence that really, tadashi’s opinion on was just ‘a bit confusing but it is what it is i GUESS’. first she was just miko’s ‘clever girl’ text partner, then she was just bye☆bye; either way, someone that tadashi felt a little weird over knowing so much about like her talent secret when he didn’t even know her face (funny joke), but ultimately didn’t think on too much. he didn’t understand her existence, really: people having that close of a friendship? sounds? fake?Â
(that opinion hasn’t really changed, honestly, even with grasping her and miko’s relationship proper: he knows he’ll still never really understand michiko, even after - or especially because - of drifting with her, because he can’t relate to her warm family life whatsoever. but that’s okay.)Â
once he got over the merge day issues of ‘oh fuck miko’s going to leave me for her sister and they’re going to kill me together for knowing all their shit’, tadashi was actually pleasantly surprised by michiko- while he definitely wanted to at least try to get on with michiko for who he was, for miko’s sake, tadashi ‘worst case scenario’ matsuo was admittedly only expecting for them to just be able to tolerate each other at best, while he talked michiko out of trouble if needed be for miko. but he actually quickly came to really appreciate her and her character. he was again pleasantly surprised by the fact that she not only appeared fine with his sense of humour and dryness, but appeared to share it, and that sort of got ridden out into a very positive opinion. she’s fun to be around and talk to, in his opinion, and he very much appreciates the fact that she also seems to prefer him for, well, him.
because they get along, he does actually legitimately feel terrible for his first proper thoughts on her - both in a sense of what he nearly missed and what he nearly did - and will likely be downright surprised forever that she didn’t immediately pull herself and miko away the second she heard he was prepared to kill either or both of them in self defence. tadashi’s definitely glad to have her around now, to the point where he absolutely regretted for a time letting miko know of his murder plan and accidentally getting the both of them involved when he really didn’t want them catching any grief. he’s glad to have been led to a point to know her, and hopes he can for a while- especially as well, um, in dating miko, they may just keep seeing a lot more of each other.Â
there’s no resentment that she’s absolutely always going to be number one in miko’s life or anything like that. besides, even though michiko of course isn’t quite at the level miko is of being included in tadashi’s weird little selfish ‘if i do something for them it’s also like doing it for me even if they benefit much much more’ bubble, he still considers them something of a unit. because of course.Â
he’s still confused on what to call her though. maybe he’ll get there someday.Â
short opinion: massive appreciation that he didn’t expect to have on several levels.
he’ll forgive the pseudo-intellectual comment. she might not be seeing him as competent initially trying to pull him into their gaming group, after all.Â
masashi’s in a bit of a weird position with tadashi and his opinion, honestly. while he’s not the only one in the class to have their reputation precede them a little bit to form tadashi’s first opinion on them (michiko’s the main one, but holly and yuka got it to some degree too), he is the only one to, for all intents and purposes, have the bulk of tadashi’s opinion still formed by a person that’s not him.Â
most of what tadashi’s heard about masashi comes entirely from holly, so tadashi’s opinion essentially comes down to ‘fairly messy when it comes to dealing with relationships, but possibly more like me than not?’. the second part comes from a combination of holly suggesting that tadashi might actually get on with masashi, and also from seeing the guy as a completely blank but polite slate during the event- something tadashi can do very well himself.Â
the event is actually the sole time that tadashi actually was free to form his own opinion on mash, and he basically came away with that blank slate impression, something which he actually got a little suspicious about later on- during the event he didn’t think on it too much between ‘piney for the absolute love of fuck calm down and listen’ and ‘nyotei i will kick you off a cliff myself’, and put it down to just simply not knowing the guy as well as literally everyone else there, but later on he did start to question was masashi’s actual deal in being so background-ish (in his opinion) was.Â
not that tadashi really cared too much though, and likely wouldn’t have even considered killing the guy for a time. masashi had to fall on the side of ‘positive neutral’ for him- yes, some of that was deliberate in tadashi keeping some appreciation for masashi’s defence of him in the group chat immediately post event, but it was mostly because....... well, holly really liked masashi, and michiko really liked holly (and dash really liked holly too, after a point), and of course miko really liked michi, so masashi actually kinda sat in the hell web tadashi picked up of ‘i can’t be shitty to these people or miko will get ): ‘. right on the very outskirts, admittedly - while tadashi might not have actively hurt mash, if the situation had drifted towards voting him or something he wouldn’t have fought as hard for the guy as he might some people - but close enough to be Saved By The Shojis.Â
hilariously.
kinda regretted holding off digging in a bit when masashi started being more of a shit towards the end, which is why he allowed himself to dig into the guy come ch9 results, but hey.Â
short opinion: insert some comment by holly on this guy who was kinda just left be out of necessity.Â
might have been interested in his fake personality deal though, if he ever found out.Â
(and dude okay he loves getting attention too through dramatic shit but . uh . what)
☆ ai is not a happy camper, and neither is dash i assume
nope. he’s not. but hilariously, tadashi had....... zero real opinion on ai until she was driving an axe handle into his chest either.Â
alright, there were bits and pieces he picked up here and there- dash mostly knew ai as ‘some loud girl he guesses’, through combinations of things like her reaction towards andrew just vagueing towards her secret and her aggression towards ryouji in his trial. the first point picked up some interest in her as to what could be so bad, though it was promptly forgotten through other shit that happened that day,-and that second one, admittedly, did get tadashi a bit more ‘oh jesus fucking christ’ about her, but since he didn’t really have anything to do with her, nor was he actively doing anything she seemed to hate (although he could have been, if it had been an older dash) he just........... figured he’d play it safe and avoid any situations that could bring that up. that’s part of the reason he went for the murder method he did, really: you can’t easily punch someone if you’re paralysed from behind lol
ai was only in the murder lotto a bunch more times than some people because tadashi felt like she had more of an opening to be led into a murder plan than some people did; not too much, but he felt he could work with her being apparently interested in the investigation of the setting to lead her somewhere. that’s........ really legit it. she seriously did have bad luck my poor poor girl
his current opinion on her is one of absolute annoyance, really, even if he was the one who killed her: texting jamie meant he couldn’t slide the accusation onto him easily, and of course, she fucked up his ribs, so he’s less than thrilled. he totally expects to be absolutely annihilated if they ever come face to face again, even if he tries to hide behind miko, and so would like to avoid that as much as is humanly possible.Â
short opinion: mostly harmless until she wasn’t but haha he might not get executed eat shit. where’s the restraining order
for the absolute longest fucking time, tadashi had absolutely zero clue what to even think of ailani. it’s a little weird, because ailani was someone that at one point, he was actually interested in talking to due to her talent- but then the game started to progress more and he got more focused on that and not just ‘interested’ in talking to people for the sheer sake of i.e. without any killing game purpose.
she seemed to switch all over the place for him, honestly, and it didn’t help that she generally (at least pre merge for certain) tended to float fairly outside the circles of people that tadashi tended to find himself talking to- the absolute closest link tadashi felt he ever got with her was through yuka, which in itself was through michiko, which it ITSELF was through miko and aaaaaa. he really never did manage to get a good handle on her character- from getting super serious and kinda threatening in the group chat over the secret motive, to claiming she’s a goddamn robot in a trial, to actually seeming fairly competent and invested in solving the current case, tadashi just kinda took to giving up and seeing what fucking happened next. what was the point.Â
to this day, he still has no idea why she even started to get voted for as the mastermind, and he likely never will. she didn’t even cross his radar for the role, and likely wouldn’t have even if she hadn’t been cleared that very first trial.
theeeeeeeeen she killed yuka.Â
despite dash’s absolute salt towards someone finally taking a lead in this killing game that wasn’t him finally firing up, and gave ailani three more strikes in his murderbook instantly, she admittedly could have gotten a worse reaction from him to this. yes even worse than him essentially mocking her over how stupid the whole idea was. up until secrets motive, tadashi absolutely did not believe that any incident where someone in a relationship got hurt or killed could ever be an accident thanks to his messed up beliefs on it all- so if he’d still had that opinion here, he never would have believed ailani in that it was an accident, and would have brought absolute hell down on her (or at least never even considered offering anything but disdain towards her ever again). as it stands in canon though, tadashi is more just struggling with the concept it could have been an accident, but at least just thinks the whole thing was a really stupid charade rather than something really nasty.Â
still gonna lose his shit at her calling his case unnecessary though.Â
short opinion: could have been worse, but fuck you, even if he has no real idea who you are exactly.
ayato akiyama: the guy tadashi feels kinda bad over, but not too bad, and actually not even generally actively for the guy and really just himself because it might have screwed him over.
thanks.Â
tadashi didn’t really...... think on ayato too much honestly, outside of accusing him for things. initial game tadashi was very much just focused on himself and his role in winning this stupid mutual killing, so he held absolutely no qualms over just....... ignoring ayato entirely once he realised that he’d been pressing in the wrong direction and nearly got ayato voted for. sure, the ^-^ persona he was still forcing probably would have compelled him to send an apology, but tadashi ended up getting so focused on thinking through the first trial and its mechanics in the game here that he just. totally forgot. and then didn’t care enough. ^-^ taking over is kiiiiiiiinda what happened when he actually did apologise to ayato for saying all that shit about him to win the Why Should This Group Not Be Executed event - especially as miko had kinda hinted to him at the time that ayato had appreciated an apology for trial 1 - but also because at the time? tadashi was kinda scared that monobear had ruined his rep as a somewhat nice enough guy by spreading all that shit, even if he was trying to be more himself by that point.Â
he did also stop thinking on ayato after a point for a certain reason though, past a very brief debate with ryan on whether he could be the mastermind or not (he was Against, ftr): he accidentally learnt that someone thought ayato was the one dating ebull, and so he got from that that miko and him must be pretty close somehow if they assumed that, and so he... decided to keep on leaving him alone, for her sake.Â
basically ayato just did not win the timing game with tadashi, and continued to fly under his radar over and over again.Â
(he did actually feel somewhat for the guy when he guessed he wasn’t sleeping at all, mind.)Â
short opinion: i guess ayato achieved the background character wish he heard about with tadashi, honestly.Â
kanon has the rather dubious honour of being someone in the game that tadashi now kinda feels he maybe should have tried to talk to a little more, past their very early game interactions that were mostly dash trying to ^-^;; his way through getting her to stop bleeding. not really out of any particular drive to - not like ryan, for instance, where he had read about ‘em before and really wanted to talk - but just really because... she seemed more like the kind of person he could actually tolerate? so it probably couldn’t have hurt if it came up. he got a damper put on this idea a little later on however when she started getting noticeably more buddy buddy with haruna, because by that point tadashi wouldn’t go near haruna with a bargepole nor counting to 1000, but it technically wasn’t even anything against kanon.
honestly though tadashi never quite managed to pin down what kanon’s opinion on him was, exactly, and that was actually enough to keep his opinion on her staggeringly neutral. he didn’t really feel like he had anything to work with, save for seeing her actually act somewhat sensibly in trials- okay, right, she did have a problem with getting very invested with people very quickly that swung him a bit towards the ‘hmm’ side of disdain, but it wasn’t completely her defining trait, he reckoned. there was enough there for him to respect- maybe not like, overmuch, but she’s no andrew or anything.Â
he did get lowkey salty with her for chaining someone up in the storage room of all things though. fucks sake. he had that idea one time. there is actually some gratefulness mixed in there too, however- her confession that she knew that he knew about her having sosuke’s secret, but left him alone regardless, did actually throw him for a bit of a loop. but not in a bad way. tadashi did appreciate not actually being attacked or whatever instead just to keep him silenced about what she was doing, since he does in fact like being unharmed and, um...... you know........ he confessed to miko like two days prior to the murder. would have kinda sucked for both of them if he died then in his opinion.
it’s possible that if tadashi had gotten to know kanon a little more, he might have actually felt a bit more of understanding towards her upon the reveal of her actually being kazuko. he feels that if anyone gets the idea of playing a different person that absolutely isn’t actually you, he’s definitely included in that group, and while he didn’t know enough about either of them to relate too hard outside of just guesses- eh, maybe he could have done. at that point in the game tadashi was more guided towards the idea of actively trying to get to know people as himself, so it was an interesting thought.Â
for a lil bit anyway.Â
he’s not yet going to get cut up over not being someone’s friend.
short opinion: possibly a missed opportunity that isn’t skewed too much by the very fast (in his opinion) Jumping In For Your Friends thing.Â
so i remembered this pregame interaction the other day:
yeah i dont think we got close to this at all did we my guy
tadashi’s initial impression of andrew was... not fantastic. actually it tanked very very quickly: his entire anime-esque speech in the very first trial immediately triggered tadashi’s disdain for love and relationships and all that at-the-time hell, and he instantly went into seeing andrew as a completely naive fool because he just didn’t see that all this ‘wow we’re all friends now!’ talk was an absolute, sure-fire way to get yourself hurt and possibly killed right
they were basically total opposites, in dash’s opinion. andrew: completely fooled by the idea of sudden headlong you-dont-really-know-them ‘warm’ relationships. dash an intellectual: no
honestly tadashi’s rapidly decreasing opinion of andrew was partly bad luck on andrew’s part: he just.... kept hitting situations that naturally riled tadashi up from years and years of bullshit. tadashi reacts very badly to people he doesnt know touching him without warning? andrew takes his arm during the event and then clings onto him. tadashi has a terrible concept of good and loving relationships? tadashi gets given andrew’s secret and ends up being talked to about it by him. tadashi is terrified of people trying to push in closer to get to know him? andrew gives him a sympathetic smile after the I Like You More Now text conversation and...
........well admittedly tadashi had accidentally hyped himself up a bit more over the idea that andrew might be getting a crush on him due to overanalysing that secret and his behaviour as Andrew Likes To Be ‘With’ People To Feel Good And Liked or something which was a very unlucky situation once again . Â
there WAS one moment that tadashi got a giggle out of however and that was andrew’s absolutely fucking savage callout of ai in the group chat during the secrets motive. it did start to get him wondering if andrew was a little more fucked up than he was letting on with this personality (something he would later get scared of again when andrew started to lose his shit more), but at the time? he just found it hilarious. he can always appreciate someone being a salty jackass, honestly.
tadashi absolutely would have tried to kill andrew and actively planned on it from like mid chapter 2 iirc. his original plan was to say he got a threatening note intended for andrew or hanako and then Kindly Offer to meet this killer with him so they could catch what was going on and he wouldn’t be going alone. gee dash what the fuck were you going to do when there i wonder. he got salty over hanako dying bc he couldn’t use that plan anymore. he actually got a bit salty over andrew taking himself out the game too because then he....... couldnt get a kill point with him....... actually i hate tadashi matsuo
short opinion:Â 10/10 would kill for being a naive in-love-with-love-or-something idiot and then partly due to panicking over intensified like.
welcome to my fuck house: things noot wants to share
content warning year old writing i cut some out/changed wording choice here and there oops
Tadashi’s app
> If he was actually being executed, the end of that execution would actually change! See, in starting to get to know and date Miko over time (surprise) Tadashi highkey started to get over like.......... every fear in that exe lol. So it would have been changed to the woman smashing his head off the floor instead and, uh, talking more like Miko. sorry meeks
> A lot of this is hilarious when compared to Tadashi’s development, but honest to shit things keeps balancing out JUST right to not trigger Tadashi’s panic here. only just. some close shaves.Â
Tadashi’s notebook
> Remember that notebook Tadashi always had on him that would sometimes have an X written on or that he would refer to? Ta-da.Â
Tadashi’s murder lotteryÂ
> Aka what you would have gotten if you’d stayed to count all the slips in this case. Scaled to how much he (feat. the shojis somewhat) fucking wanted you dead at the time, plus jokes. Ai got SO UNLUCKYÂ
> Also yeah you could have got him with a handwriting check bc his hand was Fucked
