It is night and you are asleep in your bed, resting in preparation for another day at Hope’s Peak Academy, an institution that has only grown in prestige over the seven years since the Incident of an entire class disappearing, and only six returning. Seven years is a long time, and the story has fallen to the side, becoming an oddity of history for conspiracy theorists to quibble over. A cold case.
You wake up to the rocking motion of a ship on a moody ocean. The sloshing of water is not the gentle lap of waves on sand, but a series of eerie wet slaps like some giant thing intent on sucking you down into the abyss.
There is no sun, there is no moon, the lights in the ‘sky’ are not stars.
You are not dreaming.
