Your task is to remove the weeds, water the plant and provide nutrition but not to alter the very essence of their construction. This video celebrates parenting and lays out the strategies to read your childâs thoughts. If you are one struggling at understanding your children and gaining their confidence this is a must-watch! While most believe that the biggest reason people fail at accomplishing their goals is that they never start. The truth is even if they do most fail because they donât continue pursuing it even after venturing in. The greatest hurdle we mortals face is staying consistent. While beginning a job is definitely important but keeping at it holds the key to sustained success. Well, who would want to be successful just for a day? If your goal means serious business and you definitely donât want a life thatâs basic I would suggest you fasten up the seat belt and get prepared for the zig-zag ride. Because one fall and you know it takes a lot to start all over. So, mental preparedness is the key. Consistency is a skill more important than any other if you are serious about playing a kickass game for the long term. Take a look at the video which lays out the key to staying consistent in whatever you do.

The brutal gang-rape and murder of a 26-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad, India on 27th November 2019, triggered nationwide reactions. The victim was brutally gang-raped and burnt alive. Eventually, all four rapists were killed in an encounter by the Cyberabad police. But the question that still haunts many: "Why rapes? Why is it increasing? The popular answers to this question speak at large about the society we live in. And the best part of the answers is the problem in the first place.

Do you waffle over a yes or a no, to do or not do, to go or not go, to stay or to quit, to hold on or to let go? We are often so overburdened about the possibility of the choices turning out to be right that we eventually fail to make a choice. In this video, I will tell you how to deal with this dilemma.

Recently, I came across a post on social media that âbeing the best version of yourselfâ is a lie that the personal development industry keeps telling you to take advantage of your weaknesses and aspirations. Well, the answer is donât be befooled by such articles or posts that convince you to be satisfied with what you have and you instantly heave a sigh of relief, believing you are living life to the brim and you donât deserve more. That you are just being yourself and you canât have a bigger purpose in life.
WHY PEOPLE ARE NEVER SATISFIED WITH WHAT THEY HAVE?
What was once your biggest accomplishment is now ordinary. Your dream of being a millionaire is always fancier than the reality after you become one. The same luxury car no further gives you that adrenaline rush as it used to. You still lookout, after a couple of years of getting through the most coveted job.
Have you ever wondered why? Why do things go down the scale?
The answer to this is secretly hidden in the way evolution designed our brain. A new car excites us, a new haircut makes us happy, a new house increases our happiness by leaps and bounds. Our brain loves novelty. It is designed to push us to explore the unexplored and to force us beyond our set limits to scale up in life.
Plunging into a value judgement about the topic is inessential since the merit in the discussion is way more rewarding than the debate itself.
When you are not satisfied you seek new possible ways to have what you donât possess. The most vital part of this is seeking. You train your psyche to adapt to new stimuli. Your yearning for the new is motivation. You willingly alter your beliefs, perceptions and thoughts.
There is a region in your brain which is associated with novelty called the substantia nigra/ventral segmental area or SN/VTA. This is the novelty centre in your brain which response to new stimuli. Dopamine pathways are activated when we are exposed to something new. Dopamine is the brains reward chemical but it is also closely related to our motivation to anticipate the reward.
Have you ever wondered why you want to gamble even after you have won for the day? The sheer hope of achieving more money!
Every time you indulge in adventure sports remembers itâs your dopamine that is hungry enough to hog on the new experience. Itâs sort of âgimme moreâ kinda neurotransmitter.
While the internet is flooded with content popularizing modest living. I am at odds with the very notion of a half-lived life masked as pragmatism & self-consciousness. The dictionary meaning of the word âmodestâ is âunassuming in the estimation of oneâs abilities or achievementsâ. What is the glory in underplaying?
Being heir to supremacy is a one time opportunity. Make the most of it.
Every time you are hit by the dopamine slack explore new things for that much-needed dose of inspiration to chase it out.
Positive psychology also explains this satisfied to never being satisfied journey. Humans will always return to a stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative life events. It is called hedonic treadmill or hedonic adaptation. According to this theory, there is no permanent happiness. More will at point be less and we will eventually end up maintaining a constant level of happiness or the happiness set point despite events occurring in our lives.
The merit in this theory is its approval on human adaptation.
Now that you know there is every chance you will bounce back to balance, no point drowning in the guilt of asking for more.
Itâs organic to perennially look for more to be happy. Thatâs the key source of motivation to go on and that is what growth looks like. But if itâs getting in the way of maintaining that healthy balance between seeking more and living with what you already have start by doing these things:
Never restrain yourself:
Knowing that it is not your last goal is an empowering idea in itself. It can be a great reservoir of inspiration. You know there would be one more chance to perform at peak. So go ahead and just do it. Even if you fumble you got one more chance and one more after that. You got your entire life to experiment, to explore, to fail, to win, to acquire, to lose. It is a process and not the end. So, let loose from the noose. Self-doubt is just going to delay self-exploration.
The addition is true satisfaction, not acquisition:
Every new skill that you add as a result of your goals is your true earning. Acquisition is short-lived for its relevance is only temporary. True satisfaction lies in you evolving to your best self. Your skills can not only impact your life but also those around you. That helps you calculate the dividend you earned for the invested effort. If it is as big as a legacy you deserve a pat on the back.
Never borrow satisfaction:
Each of us has to carve our way to satisfaction. Only then it is perennial. What works for another might not work for you. Satisfaction is personal and neither can be shared nor inherited. Each of us is designed for different things and thatâs what adds diversity to the world around us. Imagine if each of us started doing similar things!
Practice resilience:
Accept your ability to adapt. Itâs genetically coded in you. Believe in your power. Situations are superficial because they are temporary. Donât let your stress hormones overpower your serotonin and dopamine. Make it a point to focus and reorganize your life goals. Remember, there are further steps to climb in the ladder of life. This isnât the end.
Live in the present:
âThe present is your future pastâ. Thus spend it wisely. Everything that is available is only for now. If you yearn for the future living in the present it will erode away what you already own. The greatest secret to being satisfied is to live with what you have while planning for what you are about to live with.
HOW TO BE SATISFIED IN LIFE?
There is no curated answer to this question but there is every possibility you can curate your life.
Being satisfied or unsatisfied depends on how intense your ambitions in life are. It is like an appetite. While some can gorge on the food some just nibble. Unfortunately being satisfied or not is often subject to comparison with anotherâs goal and achievement. What works for someone might not be right for you. Satisfaction is personal. The problem is it rests in your perception and thus largely sacrosanct. There is no unanimous definition of satisfaction. The connotation varies according to your life goals and your perception about life in totality. But to be truly satisfied or to just compromise with a life which you didnât want is where you need to make a decision. Carefully choose what beliefs you allow to shape your identity, environment, relationships and well-being. First things first!
Make the Choice
You need to make a choice whether to let go of your goals which you have harboured internally or start walking towards it. This is about you and not to do with the external environment. Once you take a firm decision rest of the things will start falling into place. Muster the courage and be determined to go after it in spite of all impediments. There is no secret to this itâs all about having a goal, nurturing it, planning and taking the leap. It is important to look inwards and bring clarity in what you truly aspire for and how you want to accomplish them instead of nurturing limiting beliefs that bring you nothing but regret.
Know your goal
You are born unique and special. There is no second type of you. You are packaged with all the tools. You just need to assemble them. Hold yourself together, learn to question yourself and understand what you really love. Donât borrow someone elseâs goal. Trying to be someone else is a sure path to getting lost. If you do, no permutation combination is going to unlock the vault of happiness for you. Because the secret ingredients are special to the other person. Realize your worth and uphold the choices that uphold it.
Plan for it
This will help you sail through the slack period. You need to cover yourself Before you start getting returns. Things wouldnât change overnight. With every possibility, it will change for worse initially. Be ready to handle it. Keep hitting the ground hard and you will get over this. When you see the sunshine across the horizon just bath in it. Thatâs what you call satisfaction. You evolve as a winner in all respect.
Integrity is Imperative
Only accomplishing wouldnât make you that happy you. You need to see what paths you tread to reach there. Thereâs no price for integrity. No shortcuts no compromise whatsoever. You have the required skills, so start using them before they rust. Moreover, you canât make it too far on borrowed life. Donât let your conscience question you.
Nurture Relationships
Itâs true the journey is only yours but you canât leave those who have helped you reach here. Stay connected.Reciprocate.Donât go far away from love, care and affection. This will ensure you during the days of your struggle. Value and nurture family and relationships. After all, you need somebody to celebrate success with.
Stop Complaining
Be contented with what you have until you carry out your heartâs desire. Complaining doesnât help much. Itâs like a black hole. You slip in more into darkness when you struggle to come out of it. You need to do what you should do to change the current affair of things. Brooding would take you nowhere but push you into a world of confusion. You end up entangled and struggling to break free. So act with all the zeal. Being content with what you have will help you push through the intermediate stage.
Be Consistent
Use the intermediate period between no success to success judiciously. There might be enough reasons not wanting to do what you are doing now but you need to cling on to the one reason which is going to transform your life. Because if you give up, all you will earn back is regret and trust me it is not worth a company. Keep calm and sail through. Persistence is the key. Every time your dart fails to hit the goal it makes you repeat thereby perfecting your aim. You need the itinerary before you start to travel. Use this intermediary stage to prepare it.
Being satisfied is a choice. It is a result of the belief you hold and the decisions you take that show in your action.
TURN YOUR TOMORROW WITH THESE 8 GOLDEN RULES OF GOAL SETTING
Before we understand the facets of goal setting at the outset we need to understand the true meaning of a goal.
A goal is your desire or wishes in an intangible state aspired to be made tangible in due course.
To cover this distance from the intangible state to tangible it requires a cumulative approach comprised of inspiration, belief, action, dedication, optimism, fearless self, and confidence.
Having a goal is good, accomplishing it is great. Sometimes the word goal is so extensively used that its meaning becomes gibberish. When you have a goal you have something to look forward to. You are not gazing at space you are looking at something concrete. Now that you got a hang of what a goal is let me tell you the essence of goal setting. Here are the eight primary prerequisites to goal-setting when you have clarity about what is that one goal you want to chase through and see it getting accomplished.
1. Setting a goal requires self-introspection of your capabilities and core competencies. This helps you set a goal that is realistic and achievable. Your job looks more doable. Somebody knocks your mindâs door and says boss you got it right. That somebody is your instinct which eventually helps you discover the hidden paths leading to your goal. You donât have to look around. This is absolutely internal. Listen to it and pay attention.
2. Write your goal. Research says people who vividly describe their goal are 1.2-1.4 times more likely to successfully accomplish their goals. Neuropsychology has identified something called âgeneration effectâ which basically says individuals demonstrate better memory for the material they have generated themselves than for material they have merely read. When you write down your goal, you get to access the âgeneration effectâ twice: first, when you generate the goal (create a picture of it in your mind), and second when you write it down because you are essentially reprocessing or regenerating that image. You have to rethink your mental picture, put it on the paper, place objects, scale them, think about their spatial relations, etc. Thereâs a lot of cognitive processing going on right there.
3. Donât look at other goals as a benchmark. You are a completely different individual with a completely different constitution. When you set a goal looking at others you end up losing it even before you have attempted to accomplish it. After the inceptive period, you would lose interest because it was never a part of you or your plan. You simply jumped in because you saw somebody else is having a whale of a time. Thatâs truly unintellectual. Never adopt a goal. Period.
4. Nurture a goal, not a delusion. When goals are influenced by fantasy they will never live to see the light of the day. Set goals that are real. Goals are just images without any action. Itâs time you blink out of a reverie and start acting. Set goals that are actionable and achievable.
5. Be consistent. In your endeavour, you might encounter failure and not once but several times. Donât let yourself fall apart. Donât give up. This is where self-doubt raises its vicious hood. Donât let it demotivate you. Be consistent. Fail to fail better. Each failure prepares you for the upcoming win. Persistence is the key.
6. Before setting a goal have a blueprint ready. Try to find the paths leading to it. In nutshell, plan for it. It has to be comprehensive. It should answer the How, When, Where, Who. This makes your goal measurable which helps you later when you go all out. Itâs a myth that planning should follow goal setting. It can go hand in hand too. Letâs do things differently and get this correct.
7. Break your goals into years, months, days, hours, minutes. This smaller goals not only makes your accomplishments appraisable but motivates you to move further closer towards your final goal. Go one small goal at a time before the big show. Itâs like a round of ramp rehearsals. Go slow and stay focused & donât forget to celebrate those small wins.
8. Never postpone your goal. This pulls down your confidence and as time passes that tomorrow never comes. Our mind starts playing tricks. It makes us lazy. It makes us doubtful. Eventually, you will let go of it and start finding a new one which you will postpone again trapped in a vicious cycle. Well, I guess there are times it really pays off to be impulsive.
