The dismantling of Roe v Wade will go down in history as one of the most damning indictments of american politics and a public health decision, no matter how short or long lived, that will shape the pain and suffering of generations to come.

Mother Whale's Funeral
Obama specifically ordered this kid killed because “he might have been influenced by his father’s teachings”. Like, that’s it. That was enough for the Obama administration to kill an American citizen. No trial, no questions. Nothing. Obama himself, personally, went “You say this kid’s dad was a terrorist? Well, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree so we better kill the kid too” and then they did.
To be clear, this wasn’t some shadowy faceless CIA operation where some secret agents needed the President to sign a paper approving their idea. This was literally ordered by the President himself. Obama killed a kid deliberately, on purpose, without being tricked or forced. He did this because he had a bad feeling about the kid and some people told him the kid could inspire people to commit terrorist attacks by telling them about how the US illegally murdered his father without a trial.
Both al-Awlaki and his father were American citizens. They had rights. In the US, even criminals get due process and a list of rights specifically for people who are accused of crimes. For example, the right to a fair trial by a jury of their peers, or the right to have a trained lawyer work with you, among many other rights.
Forgot to mention, according to the Obama administration, he wasn’t even killed, he was ‘erroneously deprived of life’
Right, and they also posthumously designated all the innocent people killed in drone strikes to have been “enemy combatants”.
Also let it be known that this shouldn’t enrage you because “they were American citizens with rights” it should make you mad because of how the American war machine will kill innocent people regardless of rights or citizenship status.

“It’s the nation that does not permit you to live.”
Death by Hanging (1968), dir. Nagisa Ōshima
The context of the film is vital as it is relevant more than ever. The film is about an ethnic Korean in Japan who is set to be executed by hanging. Koreans have historically lived as marginalized members in Japan and have been heavily discriminated against despite many of them having all the makings of citizenship by being born and brought up in Japan. Oshima examines how the state legitimizes violence and racism as it permeates in the Japanese conscious of who is deemed worthy of life and who is not. An underlying theme is that guilty or innocent by state-set terms of criminality, marginalized people are guilty at birth.
