If you’d asked me a year ago, I’d tell you this sounded insane: I’ve been nominated for an Emmy Award for my role as co-executive producer on Season 1 the @NeverSettleShow. Oh, and @MarioArmstrong got nominated for another one for hosting the show. _ Know this: it is a goddamn miracle season 1 of this show ever even happened. _ We didn’t have a TV studio: we filmed the whole show out of tech startup @Canary’s lobby. The was no set: we just had a single freestanding wall, random Ikea furniture, a couple of curtains and some banners we printed at @FedEx Office. The control room was an insane and shockingly functional mess cobbled together by @benmakestv and run by the inimitable (and constantly swearing/shouting!) Dean Gordon. Somehow, @skywolfx managed a stage management miracle and kept people from falling off ladders and tripping over the bundles of wire snaking across the set’s floor. I honestly still don’t know how Mike managed to ensure that nobody got hurt. _ @nicolemhunter6 (pictured center, & for those of you who don’t know her, she’s the real brains of this whole operation) maxed out her credit cards just to keep the show running. The amount of stress, anxiety, and frustration she endured to keep this dream alive was the most inspiring thing I witnessed in all of 2017. _ Every single week, my fellow co-executive producer @adriennepaxton (and also fellow nominee!) was awake too late, then awake too early, then wrangling all of the pieces last minute to make sure all of Mario and I’s segments went smoothly. _ And yet, somehow, it always came together. For 6 beautiful weeks last spring, each and every week the Never Settle Show got better. Smoother. More interactive. Maybe it was never perfect, but it was ours and we fucking owned it. _ This nomination is a huge deal to me, and validation for a lot of stressful days and sleepless nights, but it’s also validation for every single person who worked on this show or helped me along the way. There are far too many people to thank, but if you were in any way involved in this show, then you should know that this nomination is for you, too.
