Come see the Sidewalk University Art Exhibit at the Main Library on Thursday, April 28th at 6 PM.

Sarah Franklin- The elevators have been pretty small and most of the time pretty packed with people here in Japan. I came across this elevator at イオン. It's the big mall in Akita.

Sarah Franklin- I have been in Japan for a few weeks now and surprisingly haven't seen very many people in wheelchairs. I did finally come across something related to wheelchair accessibility at a track and field complex here in Akita!

Over the weekend I visited louisville and the Louisville Slugger Museum. It’s not the best quality because I was trying not to seem odd at the ticket counter, but they have made the tour and building incredibly accessible! Not only do they offer accommodations for the factory tour, but the building and all of its many exhibits are very wheelchair accessible. In fact, a support group for children with spina bifida was I’m attendence as well and they were all pumped to be so independent. Just thought I’d share!

Madeline Stuart is getting her shot at Fashion Week

Madeline Stuart, the Australian 18-year-old with Down syndrome who’s been winning fashion fans all year, will will the runway at New York Fashion Week next month for FTL Moda. Stuart is hoping to change society’s view of people with disabilities — and fashion specifically so desperately needs it.

Just thought I’d share. Down Syndrome is the most common genetic condition. Getting involved and donating some of your time can greatly make a difference. You guys should look into DSACK! (Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky).
