friday night
in which... honey can't satisfy everyone (in the boxer!matt au)
It was finally Friday and Matt has a match later tonight around 8 then an afterparty at Chris’s apartment. It should be an easy match. Matt has already fought this guy before and there’s tension between the two that they don’t discuss but it’s obvious. At least to you it’s obvious.
“What are you wearing?” Naomi’s voice cracks through the phone as you scramble around your room. “Uhh I’m not too sure actually. I have to buy their birthday gift. I completely forgot that I’m gonna be really late for their party. Have a late shift.”
Naomi hums and continues applying her mascara before speaking again. “I’m thinking about wearing this,” she says as she gets up. You move closer to your phone so you can fully see her outfit. She has a white off the shoulder with designed cuts along the neckline paired with denim shorts and brown boots.
“You don’t think it’s gonna be dirty over there? I mean it’s an underground fight club or whatever it’s called. It’s really cute though and I would hate to see it dirty ‘cause you know how the men over there are.”
She scoffs and rolls her eyes before answering, “ugh I know. I’ll be fine, Chris is gonna be there. What are you gonna wear?” You shrug your shoulders and quickly prop your phone up before going back to trying to clean your room and find the handmade card you have for the triplets.
“Uhh maybe just a tank top, shorts, and since you’re wearing boots then I’ll probably wear mines too.”
“Yes, I think you should!” You can hear the excitement in her voice without having to look at her face. You both still get excited over small things like that.
After a short talk Naomi hangs up and you finish getting ready. You decided on a simple black tank top, cut off denim shorts that hug your thighs and ass nicely, and black leather boots. You’re not trying too hard since most after parties are chill and there’s gonna be gross, sweaty men and drunk girls all around you both at the party and at the underground club that Matt is always at.

1 new message from Dylan
Hey are you doing anything tn?
Fuck.
What are you supposed to tell him? That you’re busy? Well… you technically are busy but watching a boxing match isn’t busy enough to miss the chance to hangout with Dylan. Plus, you don’t remember the last time you guys even hung out. It was maybe when you guys went out to party but even then that wasn’t a proper hangout or date. Does this even count as a proper hangout or date?
just gonna watch matt box later tn
Oh cool
Fuck. Now if you don’t invite him it’s gonna seem like you’re ignoring him for Matt. Which… you’ve caught yourself doing it a few times. Only a few. Like once or twice. Plus, Matt was injured and you don’t wanna leave either one of them hanging but when one texts you asking if you're busy and the other shows up at your door because he’s hurt–and maybe because he missed you–it’s so obvious who to go to first.
yeah me, naomi, chris, and nate are going. i think nick is as well
we’re all gonna buy the tickets at the door
do you wanna come?
…
Yeah sure! Send me the address
There’s a high chance that you’re going to regret this as soon as you see Dylan’s silhouette.
“Naomi, I need help. Like asap rocky help”
“Why? What’s wrong?” Her voice cracks through the speaker of your phone for the second time today.
“Dylan texted me.” Silence. You don’t even have to explain the rest for her to know what happened.
“He’s coming with us isn’t he,” “yes. Sadly.” She sighs and you groan into your pillow.
“I don’t know what to tell you honey. Do you still like him?”
Something in your heart drops slightly. “...yeah. I mean I still text him and I enjoy his company. The only thing that’s holding us back is our busy schedules.”
“Are you sure that time is the only thing that’s holding you guys back?”
“What do you mean?” Please don’t say it. Please don’t say it. Please don’t say it.
“Matt. The only boy that you seem to actually let into your life.”
“Matt and I are just friends. Nothing more.”
Silence.
“Just friends? I see the way that boy looks at you. Everyone does. I can practically feel the warmth of love he has for you. If he’s just a friend then why do you guys have this weird underlying tension between y’all. If my man was acting like Matt and you were just his homegirl I would’ve been broken up with him. It’s so obvious that you guys like each other. Just hurry up and fuck already.”
You can’t help but laugh at the last sentence. “I’m serious honey! You both like to dance around the line between friendship and romance and everyone can feel it. When whatever it was that happened between you guys it caused a strain in the friend group. You guys weren’t the only ones who felt it. We all did. And I bet the reason why you guys stopped talking was over something stupid like mentioning other people. You both don’t see how jealous the other gets; how you both start acting standoff-ish to each other and even others when either one you brings someone around.”
“We’re just–”
“Shut up. Actually shut up. I don’t mean to sound rude honey but I need your brain to soak in all the words I’m saying. If Dylan is wonderful and everyone in the group likes him but Matt then why don’t you date him already? Matt and you have this special bond and I’m sure with enough convincing that Matt would be willing to tolerate Dylan just so you’re not upset with him.”
“Yeah… I guess you’re right.”
“I know I’m right. The same thing goes with Matt as well. You could have him in a heartbeat if you really wanted to but what’s stopping you? It’s obviously not Dylan. You don’t have to feel bad about liking two people at the same time, but you can’t keep leading them on like this. It isn’t fair to any of you guys. You need to think about yourself and what you want. Don’t think about what Dylan wants or what Matt wants ‘cause in the end they both want what’s best for you. Don’t think about what I think or how the group may perceive it because we both know that I’m gonna stand 10 toes behind you no matter the decision. What do you want? What does honey want?”
You take a while to answer to soak up all of her words like a sponge. “Thanks Naomi.”
“Of course, you know I’m here and I love you. But what are you gonna do about tonight?”
“I don’t know. It’s too late to cancel on him and I don’t wanna miss this match,” you whine into your pillow again.
“Do you think you’ll be able to handle both of them in the same room?”
“Umm… I hope not. But I mean Matt is gonna be more to himself since he’s always tired at the parties and Dylan is friends with Nick’s boyfriend, Noah. So I mean… yeah, I think I’d be able to juggle both of them.”
“If you say so sweetie.”
“I can’t believe you actually invited Dylan to come watch Matt beat this kid’s ass.” Chris says loud enough over the music for everyone to hear. You roll your eyes as Naomi slaps his arm from the passenger seat.
“You told him Naomi?” She looks over her shoulder to give you a sorry smile while shrugging her shoulders. “Well! He texted me right after we hung up because he needed to find out if he was picking anyone else up.”
“Still!” “Hey don’t be mad at Naomi honey. You put this on yourself.” Chris says, keeping his eyes trained on the road.
“What was I supposed to say!”
“Nothing!” Chris and Naomi yell in sync. “He’s gonna throw the whole dynamic off with the group and you and Matt just got back to being normal.” Chris complains before finally looking over his shoulder to look at you once you’ve stopped at a red light.
Your eyebrows furrow together, “what? How? I thought you guys all liked Dylan?”
Silence.
“Guys?” Chris and Naomi share a look before looking back at the road at the same time. You lean forward, resting both forearms on the back of their seats, “I thought everyone didn’t mind Dylan?”
Awkward silence now.
“It–it’s not that we don’t mind Dylan. It’s… there’s something off about him.”
“Yeah! He’s a nice guy overall but… Honey you don’t see the way he…”
“The way he whats?”
Chris rolls his eyes in the rearview mirror before turning to face you fully. You back up immediately at seeing how close his face is to yours.
“He’s fucking weird Honey. There’s something off about him, and you never notice because despite you ‘liking’ him, it’s very obvious that you’re mentally not here with us whenever he’s around the group. There’s a reason why Matt doesn’t like him.”
“Well… Matt is also just very grumpy with everyone that he doesn’t know” Naomi chimes in. Chris side eyes her. “No he’s polite to servers in restaurants” “Yeah but that’s just basic manners,” “still.”
“Hey you’re getting off topic.” “Right. He’s a nice guy to you but the way he looks at you is weird and pretty much every woman that’s nearby. Why do you think I’m all up and next to Chris whenever Dylan is around.”
“Aren’t you always next to Chris?” “Not true! I’m around you more than my own mom.” You roll your eyes playfully at her words.
“Besides the point. We only put up with him for you. He’s a nice guy to have small talk with but I don’t think you should actually date him.” Chris says before driving again. You slump back into the backseat and cross your arms over your chest, rethinking everything you told Dylan and memories when he was ‘weird’ as Chris and Naomi say.
“I wish you would’ve told me sooner. I would’ve not told him to come… and I would’ve ended things sooner.” You grumble and look out the window, dreading the night now.
“We wanted you to come to the realization yourself. You can be stubborn like that. But obviously that didn’t work and we were the ones that had to tell you.”
“Too late for that ‘cause we’re already here and he’s right there at the front door.” Chris says while parking.
“Ugh. I hate this. Can you just kill me?” “Sorry sweetie, you’re gonna have to figure this one out on your own.” Naomi says with a small smile before patting your knee. “Come on, we gotta get good seats.”
You groan before forcing yourself to get out of the car and face Dylan. It’s just Dylan. Calm down. Matt. Crap. Someone please kill me right now.
“Hey Honey,” Dylan says with a smile and opens his arms up to hug you. You say nothing but just give him a polite smile and return the hug.
Buying tickets was awkward. Waiting in line was awkward. Finding good seats was awkward. It only got worse when Chris had to leave to go to Matt’s locker room. Thankfully Nate came not too long after. You saw his face drop and can see the tension in his jaw when he saw that Dylan was here though.
It’s so confusing. You thought everyone liked Dylan. Like genuinely liked him. I mean he is actual friends with a few people in the group and even good mutual friends with others. If he’s such a bad person then why did they push and urge you to talk to him, to get to know and go out with him. You thought he was cute at most but you weren’t looking for anyone let alone thinking about everyone like that. God you wish you would’ve just drove here instead of having Chris pick you up.
“You okay?” You hear Dylan ask softly as he nudges your leg. You turn and look at him, feeling dread instead of that excitement that you convinced yourself that you felt. “Yeah… just tired. Had a busy day earlier.” Dylan just nods and turns back to the ring.
Matt would’ve known that something was by just sitting next to you. Why are you thinking of Matt right now? You should be conversing with Dylan, enjoying his company, you haven’t seen him in almost a month. Plus, everyone in the group wants you to see what’s wrong with Dylan without their help. Maybe now you can finally break things off with him once you notice these things.
“You said that Matt is good right?” Dylan leans in to speak since it’s gotten more loud with the music playing to fill the noise of the continuing crowd. You nod your head, suddenly feeling anxious now that you have to talk about Matt with the guy you’re seeing. Matt. The same Matt you’ve been kissing and cuddling every time he comes over. The same Matt who can easily make your heart race but also make it calm down in situations like this. The same Matt who–
“How good is he? I don’t know, I feel like I could beat him in a fight.” Dylan shrugs. You tilt your head at how stupid he sounds. “Are you serious?” “Yeah, I mean do you see how skinny he is? Aren’t boxers supposed to be more ripped.” “Dylan.” “Yeah?” “Shut up.” He laughs at your words.
Why is he laughing? Is he seriously that dumb to think that he could face Matt one on one without any training? The same Matt who has been boxing since he was around 10 years old. Over 10 years of boxing experience against a guy with the ego that Matt should have.
Thankfully Matt’s opponent walks out first so you don’t have to be stuck with useless, dumb conversation, and awkward silence with Dylan.
Your palms get a bit sweaty, so do your feet. Maybe you shouldn’t have worn these boots. God, what is Matt gonna say or do when he sees Dylan here? Is Matt gonna even say anything? Why would he? It’s not like you guys are dating. Still. It’s the thought of Matt seeing you sitting next to Dylan. You already know his body will say everything he can’t.
You were right. As soon as Matt got closer to your side he looked over, like always, and then you see his gaze move over to the guy next to you. It’s subtle but you still catch it. His jaw clenches a bit harder, his back seems more stiff, taking extra time to walk around, eyes still trained on Dylan like he’s shooting spears through him.
It’s awkward, you feel it and you’re sure Nate and Naomi can feel the tension radiating from Matt. None of you mention it though, not with Dylan around at least.
The match starts and it’s like you’re in a trance. No matter how many times you’ve seen Matt practice and actually fight when it’s time, it’s the same. He moves so effortlessly, like it’s second nature.
“Come on Matt! You can do this!” You yell every once in a while as soon as he gets hit, even standing up. You swear that every time you yell he always punches harder, stays sharp.
The match ends after around 30 minutes, an easy but still hardworking win for Matt.
“So… you ready to head out?” You hear Dylan say as you all wait behind for everyone to leave. “What?” He looks at you confused. “You ready to leave? We saw the match and Matt won.” “Yeah but there’s an after party, plus we always visit and wait for Matt”
“You can’t miss this one time? For me? Come on baby, we haven’t seen and hung out with each other in forever,” he says softly as he grabs your hands and softly tugs them. You look down at your connected fingers.
“But–”
“Come on Honey. You can always hang out with Naomi and ‘em later. Matt will always have another boxing match but we never see each other.” Something about the way he called you Honey made you feel weird. Like it doesn’t sound right when it falls from his lips. You have to physically stop yourself from cringing at him saying it.
“I promised Matt that I would be here and hang out with him as well.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Plus, I’m sure that he’ll understand since we don’t ever hang out anymore. Come on baby.” He practically whispers and begins playing with the strand of hair that fell in front of your face.
Something tugs at your gut but you can’t tell which emotion it is. Guilty for leading one of them on? Regret for inviting Dylan to watch the boxing match? Nervous for what the future holds? How soon is this future that you feel nervous in? And you’re not even sure if you’re nervous for how Matt might react or what will happen with Dylan if you were to leave your friends behind for him.
“Come on. Let’s go back to my place and put you looking fine to good use,” he pecks your lips quickly and gently tugs you along.
Something inside you feels like it’s on fire. Lust and desire? No… it’s not the same. Maybe? You haven’t felt any sexual desires for Dylan since… damn. Has it really been that long? You resist a little to look over your shoulder only to find the seats empty. They just left you alone? With Dylan? After the things they’ve said behind your back and to you? If he was this weird guy then why would they leave you behind.
You don’t resist any longer and follow him out the door. Into the warm night air. It feels wrong though. You shouldn’t be exiting this underground club from the front entrance with this guy who you’ve realistically only known for a few months. You should be exiting this place from the back entrance with your friends that you’ve known for a few years and Naomi who you’ve known since freshman year of college.
You shouldn’t be alone sitting with this heavy weight of guilt sitting in your stomach. You should be free and making jokes with your friends, with Matt. You should have his heavy yet comforting arms around your shoulders instead of Dylan’s hands wrapped in yours so tightly. You shouldn’t feel like you’re suffocating like how you are right now.
As you follow Dylan to his car you hear faint voices from down the alleyway. Don’t let it be Matt. Please don’t let it be Matt.
You look over your shoulder and see no one. No one but a staggering figure falling behind the rest of your friends. You immediately recognize that it’s Matt. Your heart is heavy. Your breathing is more shallow.
Your eyes meet his as you walk in the same directions just separated by the alley. Something in you aches and you feel a harsher tug on your hand, Dylan urging you to walk faster to his car.
Everything is blurred as he drives to his house. The city lights practically blind you and you’re not sure if you’re tearing up. Why are you feeling like this? Dylan has never done anything bad to you. Does that really make him a bad guy if you haven’t been affected by him?
You hate to think about it but… maybe tonight you’ll realize how bad of a person he is.
His hand is still in yours as he drags you to the front door and then his living room. Letting go to turn on his lights and grab two sodas from the fridge before heading back to you.
“You hungry?” He asks as he sits beside you, arm slug over the back of his couch as he turns on the TV some trash show playing in the background and you can feel his eyes on you. Please stop looking at me. Please stop looking at me. Please stop looking at me. Please stop. Stop.
“I’m fine with some pizza or something,” you shrug your shoulders, briefly looking over at him. Instantly you regret it because as soon as you look away you feel him place his fingertips gently on the bottom of your chin and turn your face to him.
“Come here,” he whispers before kissing you softly. Lips barely brushing against each other, and it reminds you of that first kiss you shared with Matt. How he was so gentle with you. Holding you like you were glass, kissing your lips like it was the only way he could receive air. He wasn’t harsh at all. He wanted to make sure that you only felt pleasure and no discomfort.
You feel Dylan’s hands slide from your face and rest on your hips, squeezing them slightly before lifting you up and setting you down on his lap. It doesn’t feel right. It’s not right. You don’t feel comfortable like this. Your body doesn’t fit nicely against his like it does against Matt’s.
You don’t even feel like you're kissing him, you’re not even sure if you're moving your lips. Why is he still kissing you if you’re not reciprocating anything back? It’s at this moment that nothing feels weird. You feel like you’re floating out of your body so you can’t actually feel his ‘love’ for you. You don’t want his love though.
“Honey what’s wrong?”
You sigh and sit back, finally having the ability to feel like you can breathe again. “I don’t know. I’m sorry. I just–this doesn’t feel weird to you?” “No, not at all. This feels right.” You sigh and get off his lap, standing up fully.
“I’m sorry I just–I can’t be here.” It’s quiet as you grab your purse.
“Why not? ‘Cause I’m not Matt huh?”
“What?”
“I see the way you look at him or how you tense up whenever someone mentions him when I’m around. I saw the way you guys were even before we started going out.”
“So why’d you continue to pursue me?”
“Because I wanted you. I need you. You really wanna be with that fucking loser who can’t communicate his feelings? I should’ve known. Should’ve known that dumb lambs like you never see their way through the world. You’ll always need the protection of a real man. A man like me. He doesn’t want you Honey. Why do you think he’s been fucking that hot ass redhead ring girl. I’m not surprised if their still fucking on the low. Everyone knows that you’re a prude. You won’t do anything sexual but you love to throw bones at everyone else. Fucking bitch. Get out.”
You’re speechless and filled with rage. How can he be saying this to you? If he felt like this then he should’ve said something about it. Why blow it up in your face like this? Did he seriously think you only wanted to fuck?
“Fuck you Dylan!”
“Why don’t you! That’s the whole reason why I even thought about going out with you in the first place! I only cared in the beginning because I thought you were up to give me some!”
“You’re such a fucking pig! You’re dick isn’t even that big to be talking up this big of a storm! You’re a disgusting piece of trash, no wonder why no one actually enjoys your company. Bye loser!” You flip him off before walking out his house, slamming the front door shut along the way.
You pull your phone out of your back pocket and open messages. Who can you even call or text? Everyone is busy having a good time and you don’t wanna be a burden. Matt is probably too tired or drunk to drive. You know how much he hates you getting ubers. He says that he doesn’t like the idea of you alone in a car with a random man. Even though at one point he was a random man who went out in the backyard with you.
You hear Dylan’s front door quickly open and his voice coming out right after. “Don’t fucking slam my door”
“I can do whatever the fuck I want! We’re not seeing each other anymore and thank god ‘cause you’re such dog shit.” You say and order an uber before quickly texting Matt.
“Who you texting? I bet it’s Matt isn’t it? Fucking slut. I knew you’d open your legs to him. I’m right fucking here and you’d still go back for some old dick you’ve tried once.”
“Who the actual fuck are you to say these things about me? You don’t know me and you sure as hell don’t know my relationship with Matt!”
“I know enough Honey!” He yells and begins getting closer.
“Who the fuck you think you are? Yelling and getting all up in my face?”
“I’ll do whatever the fuck I want! Isn’t that what you said? Right Honey?”
“Stop calling me that.”
“Or what? What are you gonna do? Nothing. That’s what. Now get your ass back in my house before you cause an even bigger scene. Act your fucking age it’s embarassing.”
“FUCK YOU DYLAN! You don’t want me causing a scene well guess what! You got one right fucking now!”
“Oh you little–” he’s cut off by the squeal of quick tires against the pavement. Both of you turn to see a car pulling up rapidly. It’s quiet for a moment before you hear your phone hang up. Who did you call?

Who did you call?

small bruises
in which... boxer!matt shows up at honey's door with a few bruises and kisses...
“It’s been a while since you’ve last came over for me to fix you up,” you say as you walk to your bathroom where all of the necessities to clean Matt up are. A few items are missing since it’s been a while. I need to go shopping for those again. You make a mental reminder to yourself.
“Yeah well, I think I’ve spent enough time away from my favorite nurse,” he wraps his arms around you from behind once you’re situated in front of him.
“Get off of me you’re all sweaty,” you try your best to nudge him off, but with very little care to take him off of you. “You’ve never minded it before,” he mumbles into the crown of your head before getting up from his spot. “Imma take a quick shower so you can be all over me.” You give him a hum of acknowledgment while you put some music on and bring out some snacks to eat while you aid him better.
It’s a very confusing line of where you stand with Matt. You’re still seeing Dylan… barely. You see Matt almost as much as you see Naomi. Dylan has sort of blurred into the background. It’s not like you’re actively trying to ignore him, maybe not on purpose. You have been getting a little dry, finding excuses to leave a conversation. But it’s whatever. You guys still aren’t dating. Plus, Matt is finally back into your life and why would you wanna ruin that by the thought of another guy?
You’re still in and over your head by the time Matt is out of the shower. He staggers over to your couch before falling over and landing next to you, his arm already up and wrapped around you to pull you closer. “You always smell so good,” he mumbles into your neck. You can’t help but lean into him. Everything about him is intoxicating. Literally.
“When’s your next match?” You ask quietly as you take care of the small bruises he always carries with him. He’s quiet for a moment before shrugging. “Not too sure. Chris hasn’t been able to find anyone that wants to fight recently. Why you asking? Wanna see me all beat up and sweaty?”
You roll your eyes playfully before gently kissing the last bruise you aid. “No, I wanna know when I can see you lose again.”
“Again?” “Mhm,” “since when have you ever seen me lose?”
You take a moment too long to answer and by the time you look at Matt again he’s already wearing that shit-eating grin. “Exactly sweetheart.” His voice low and raspy all of a sudden. You can’t ignore the fire that lit up at his tone and words. His hand is coming up to cup the back of your neck before gently pulling you closer until the distance is no longer there between your lips.
It’s the same as before. Soft touches of the others’ lips. Light pecks until one of you guys (mainly him) caves in and kisses the other finally. Hearts practically beating in sync with how nervous you guys both are even if you try your best to hide it.
“Is this the real reason why you wanted to come over?” You mumble between breaths and kisses. You can feel Matt’s shoulder rise up and down with a shrug from beside you. His hands travel down to your waist before one hand slides past to grip the back of your bare thigh. Just under the end of your shorts that barely cover your ass. He grips the soft plush of your thigh before draping it over one of his own thighs.
“Not intended but this is a plus.” He speaks quickly, his lips chasing after yours when you pull back.
“Well, as much as I enjoy this, I’m still seeing Dylan and I can’t be bumping and grinding with you while talking to another guy. ‘S just not right.”
Matt rolls his eyes hard at your words. “Whatever. He’s a complete fucking idiot anyways.” He murmurs and grabs your thigh one last time before taking his hands off you completely.
“You know you’re my favorite.”
“Damn right. I better be.” He kisses you one last time for the night.

guys i was js otp with my ex who should be blocked. Yes or no, should i unblock her on everything after we said that we would give each other space
authors note: little smut(?) ig you could say. masturbation. mentions of hooking up. okay yeah i think thats it.
A huff mixed with other quiet noises on pleasure leaves the redhead’s lips. Frustration mixed with the slight big of pleasure she gets every once in a while when Matt snaps out of whatever gaze he seems to be in.
Cheryl lifts her head up and sits up on her elbows to look at Matt from below. Usually the sight of him like this, shirtless, hair messy, stubble forming along his jaw, eyes closed, and lips glistening with juices and spit would turn her on. But lately Matt has been more focused in the gym and more… whatever world his head is in whenever he’s with her. Especially when they’re trying to hook up.
“What’s going on with you?” She asks but her question isn’t answered. Matt–once again–is too in his head as he forces himself to enjoy eating her out. Not that this was forced upon him. He wanted to come tonight and just in general, but ever since you and him started getting close, closer again, he’s found himself thinking of you any time and everywhere.
Like now. And every time he tries to have sex with any girl ever now. It wasn’t this bad when you guys were ignoring each other, but maybe that’s because he was too high out of his mind to notice how in the dark, he could easily imagine Cheryl’s hair switching colors to be the same as yours.
“What are you talking about,” Matt grumbles and lifts himself up from laying on his stomach. He’s only semi hard. God, what is going on with him?
“You. You’ve been acting weird and I can’t even get off anymore. If our relationship is only fucking then can you at least put some more effort in cause you’re wasting my time.” Matt rolls his eyes and her words and wipes his chin.
“Okay then… get out.”
“What?”
“Since I’m wasting both of our time and energy it’s best that we don’t see each other until I’m not acting ‘weird’ anymore. Go find some other guy that’ll fill you up the same way I do.”
A scoff leaves Cheryl’s lips as she gets up from her position, slightly embarrassed and annoyed that she’s possibly losing the best fuck she’s ever had.
“Fuck you Matt,”
“You already have been red.”
Nothing is said and Cheryl quickly leaves his apartment.
Thank-fucking-god. Matt was tired of hearing her voice and just tired of her in general. Plus he’s been peeping how Cheryl looks at you after matches when you and his brothers go to his locker room. That’s when he started checking himself out every time she came over. Yeah she’s a good fuck but one wrong look at you from her sends Matt into a rage.
Matt goes on instagram to entertain himself from the very uneventful and not long-lasting hook up he just had. The first thing to pop up on his feed was a post of you. It was a cute summer photo dump but there’s some pictures that are definitely more eye-catching than others.
Like the one with you at the beach tanning, another one with you in short ass shorts and a tank top as you lick your ice cream cone, or the one with a short colorful dress that hugs your boobs.
God, you’re so beautiful.
Matt feels his sweatpants growing tighter and his hands becoming more sweaty.
There’s no way–well no. Matt can believe he’s getting hard at the sight of you because this isn’t the first time. Nor will it be the last.
He pulls himself out of his sweatpants and lets out a quiet exhale when the air hits his warm, throbbing cock. His mushroom tip is swollen and leaking with pre-cum. The veins along his thick cock seem to be more prompt than usual. The rest of him just proves how needy he now is by looking at you.
Is it wrong? Yes. Does Matt care? Yes and no. Yes because you’re his girl but also no because this definitely isn’t the first time.
He switches his phone to rest in his left hand while he brings his right one to his mouth and spit in it. He teases himself a little, his thumb gently rubbing over the slit on his tip. His hips involuntary jerk up and he feels his abs tense up slightly.
His eyes zoom in on the hand that’s resting just near your ass which naturally moves his eyes to your ass. He imagines it facing him as you put yourself in a reverse cowgirl position. Giving him a show while hiding your face because you get a little too shy at times when it comes to him.
Shit, he loves it when you’re shy.
He imagines the arch in your back and how your moans become a higher pitch when he decides to take control and have you face down, ass up on his bed while pounding you from behind. Switching to doggy style.
Gripping your hips for dear life the same way you’ll grip his satin bedsheets under you. The headboard would bang against the wall just a few seconds after each of his thrust, showing everyone how deep and hard he goes.
One of his hands will move downwards to play with that sensitive clit of yours. He’d feel your walls clenching around his long dick that stretches you out so heavenly. You’ll never be as filled and he’ll never feel the warm feeling of your pussy.
A loud moan escapes Matt as he quickly cums all over his abs and hand.
Well shit.

boxer matt and caretaker reader have my heart. i love them so much 🥹🫶🏽
omg that means so much to me i love that you love them it gives me more inspiration to write them 🥹🥹
catch up
Everything between Matt and you was… different. Definitely not the same as before. You guys finally stepped over that thin line of whatever this was for your friendship. At least you aren’t dreading to think about him anymore. He’s yet to come over after practices though, and you’re not too sure if you want him to. You’re afraid of what might happen and you’re both afraid of making the situation awkward like last time.
Things feel better now, almost normal. It still feels weird when you’re thinking of Matt while hanging out with Dylan. It feels like you’re almost cheating on Dylan, even if he still hasn’t asked you to be his girlfriend yet.
You’re not too sure what’s been going on with you or your emotions. Everything has kinda felt like too much for you liking. Too many thoughts and not enough actions to prevent them. It’s like everything is catching up to you now.
You jump a little when you hear the door open after knocking on it. Standing on the other side was Matt in baggy black sweatpants that hung low on his waist and a random blue tee that probably has some pun line written on it. His hair is messy like he just woke up not too long ago.
You can see his face instantly relax when his brain finally catches up to the sight of you in front of him. “Hey,” his voice coming out softer than he most likely intended to. You can’t bring yourself to maintain eye contact with him for long. Your breathing gets a little heavier and before you know it, Matt has his arms around you.
You lean into his touch and hold onto him tightly. Your body seeking his warmth like it has the solutions to all the problems in your life right now.
You feel his hand gently rub the small of your back before massaging your scalp with his previously bitten nails. “I’ve got you” he whispers before bending down slightly to grip the back of your thighs and lift you up from the floor, carrying you like a child. Holding you so close and dearly to his stable self.
His footsteps are surprisingly light as he walks around his apartment. He carries you as he gathers snacks and drinks from his kitchen and his charger from his bedroom. Nothing is said the entire time but he’s here and that matters more than anything now.
He still holds you in his lap while he makes himself comfortable on his couch, sharing food with you and eating the rest of anything you don’t want. His hands brushing away any possible tears before gently rubbing his thumb against your soft cheek, not caring about any possible bumps you may have.
“You’re so beautiful.” He whispers, kissing your cheek then kissing your temple to your forehead to your eyes that are sealed shut, preventing any more tears to fall down.
You lean more and more into him, closing any distance there might be. Matt has to gently lift your chin up to continue placing gentle pecks across your face.
“My beautiful girl. You’re such a pretty baby” His voice is so soft it makes you shy.
My beautiful girl? His? You’re not even dating let alone in a talking stage. It still makes your heart flutter in a way differently compared to Dylan.
“You’re gonna be okay sweetheart. I’ve got you.” He continues leaving small pecks across your face until he gets to your lips. “Can I?” You don’t respond, verbally. Instead you meet him halfway and his lips are quickly on yours. So gentle. So soft despite previous scars.
The kiss is soft. Like a secret between two best friends that’ll go to the grave with them. It makes you ill from how rightfully wrong it feels.
Your lips move slowly, like you’re trying to somehow memorize his lips with only touch. One of his hands gently grips your waist before moving up to the small of your back. The other hand grabs one of yours and holds it against his chest, so you can feel his heart thumping and his blood pumping from all around you. He's trying his hardest to make you physically feel what his emotions are.
You only pull away until you’re dizzy from not getting enough air and even then he leaves small pecks across the lower half of your face, not going above your cheekbone.
“What’s wrong angel?”
You shake your head.
“Come on, don’t be like that.” His hand leaves the small of your back and finds your free one. Once he has both he holds them under his chin, leaving small kisses on the tips of your fingers.
That’s when you break. Because Matt is so gentle with you that it feels wrong for even thinking you should be with someone else but him.
You cry your feelings to him, taking your hands away from him to play with the hem of his shirt to distract yourself from crying so much. You tell him about how everything has felt off the past couple of days, how weird it feels to be with Dylan now, how grateful you are for Matt, how you don’t know what to do.
Matt doesn’t interrupt, doesn’t look away or lets you pull away too far from him. And by the end of it you’re tired. He doesn’t say anything then. Just door-dashes some food and holds you close to him for the rest of the night.

Your apartment was quiet for the most part, besides the music playing from your TV but other than that it’s a chill rainy day. Dylan is supposed to come by later if he can. His job has been making him busier than usual so you see him mainly towards the end of the week. Not that you’re complaining, you’re not dependent on him. Plus, it makes the time you spend with him more sweet since you both are busy with your own lives.
But sometimes, like now, when life gets too quiet and when you realize how alone you are, you start thinking of the past. Start thinking of all the things you never did, all the feelings you couldn’t express, and all the emotions you bottled up inside you. Even if it was from a while ago. You hate to admit it but Matt is the only if not one of the people you miss the most right now. His weird, tough guy exterior or how deep he truly is–even if he tries to hide it.
But there was always something there. Hidden. In the quiet shadows of the night where you guys always seem to find each other the most.
You jump out of your skin when you hear a knock at your door. A huff leaves your lips as you stand up and walk over to the door, not even checking who it is. Probably just Naomi since her break is near. Except it’s NOT Naomi. Not even remotely close.
“Oh… Hey…”
Matt is there on the other side. Looking… like Matt. Maybe a little more rough. His eyes seem to have weights on them somehow. His entire body looks like it’s weighing down on him more than usual, like gravity hasn’t been on his side for a while now.
“Hey… I–can I come in?” Matt’s rough voice breaks. You nod and step to the side before closing the door once he’s inside.
“What’s–” “I’m sorry. I–fuck–I’m sorry for the way I reacted. It was such a stupid question and I’m sorry for avoiding you for fucking months it seems. I miss you a lot sweetheart. I know you’re dating that kid, whatever his name is. I’m sorry for giving you shit about him ‘cause I know that he makes you really happy. I just–I just missed having you around.”
You’re speechless right now. Struck with the sudden surprise of him in front of you, heart feeling a little heavier than usual, mouth slightly ajar from being interrupted by him apologizing to you, and also the fact that he called you sweetheart.
“It’s fine I shouldn’t have–”
“No it isn’t fine. I completely shut you out and… and ruined our friendship”
“Matt…” your voice becomes softer as you take a slow step to him. He looks at you like you’re the whole reason he could be put back together or broken up into more pieces. Nothing else leaves your lips though. Trying to talk has never been more difficult than now. Speaking feels nonexistent when he’s looking at you like that.
Then you both feel and see it. You feel your lips quickly looking down at his bruised lips before meeting his striking blue eyes again, only for his to look down at your lips. He takes his time though. Like he’s remembering every feature of you again. Like he’s looking at you again for the first time.
Nothing is said. Somehow that weighs more in the air than words ever could.
You’re not too sure what exactly happens next. You don’t know if you took another step closer or if Matt decided to say fuck it, but his lips are yours for a few moments. His hands cupping the sides of your face just to make sure you’re still there.
It only lasts for a few seconds but time feels weird when he has you held like this.
You’re both quick to separate though. The guilt running through both of you now. Eyes speaking too many words and showing too many emotions for either one of you guys to fully understand.
“I’m sorry–” “No, I’m sorry–” “I shouldn’t have done that.”
Silence again.
“It’s fine…”
You don’t dare to make eye contact with him this time though.
“Glad I got to see you again…”
“Mhm.”
His fingers tilt your head upwards, forcing you to make eye contact with him.
“I’m sorry. Truly.”
You don’t have to say anything because he seals it off with one last kiss before walking out again.

Matt was sick and tired of pretending like avoiding you was a normal thing now. He missed the comfort of your apartment, and he missed not being high all of the time. He knows that he shouldn’t rely on you to be the reason why he doesn’t smoke or shit like that, but you definitely make it easier to get by. Your warm presence, your eyes that judge him even if you don’t mean too, your hands that took care of him better than Cheryl ever could.
Matt just missed you, even if he hated saying it outloud. So he decided to act on pure instinct, kind of. He’s driving over to your place right now and he can’t help but wonder if this is how you felt when you properly met Cheryl. He doesn’t care if that Dylan guy opens your door or if you’re not even home. He’ll wait outside or for another day. He just needs to see you again.
Matt’s heart was pounding though. More than it does during matches or sex it feels like. He doesn’t care though, and something in him is filled with tiny sparks. Like he can’t wait to see your reaction when you see him again and not just on social media. But there’s also the looming thought that you seriously could be bent over right now for Dylan and it just reminds Matt on what he can’t have.
Whatever. It doesn’t matter. That doesn’t matter. It’s not gonna change how much Matt misses being near you. For sure the friendship between you guys will never be the same but then again, was it ever normal?
Drives seem to take longer and the time moves by quickly when you’re in a rush to be somewhere. Like now, Matt is and has been stuck in traffic for about 20 minutes now. When the fuck did the roads get this bad? Being stuck in traffic also means having to sit with your thoughts longer. Your emotions. And slowly, all the things that Matt pushed to the back of his mind start creeping forward.
Thankfully once traffic eased down it was a straight, smooth-sailing shot to your apartment. Matt didn’t wanna have to think like that anymore. His usual parking spot stayed empty and he was practically running to the elevator, which seemed to have taken forever. Matt thought about just running up the stairs but he didn’t wanna start sweating, plus you’re on the 7th floor.
He also had to cram into a corner because a whole family with little kids decided to come to the elevator at the same time as him. He avoided all eye contact. Then he had to wait extra longer so they can get all their shit out and make sure they didn’t leave a child behind.
And now finally, Matt is standing outside your door, once more. But… the feeling isn’t there. It’s not the same as it used to be. Matt can feel all these emotions building in his throat, stomach, and heart. There’s too many loose thoughts running through his mind right now.
He can’t let himself overthink this. He can’t let himself drive all the way here for nothing. He can't let himself go another week or month without you near him again.
Fuck it.
