Fahlada’s mother jumped universes to become Wan’s mother and decided to be mean to her too
Its been 10 minutes and i already feel the need to ask them to calm down
Oh prettyyy
How did it take them so many years to figure out their feelings for each other when every time they talk they’re within kissing distance and keep looking at each other’s lips 😭😭😭
Hi. I love them already
This shot is so pretty
This is just the beginning of how obsessed Wan is with Pleng throughout the entire series

CONTINUED UNPOPULAR OPINIONS ABOUT STEP BY STEP, EPISODE 11
I will spare y’all my biting criticism with a read-more. But, TL;DR – my review is short (for me, HA!), and I hand this show over lovingly to anyone who wants it.
(Thanks to continued conversations with the inimitable @lurkingshan and the utterly lovely @neuroticbookworm to ensure I’m not going insane with these thoughts.)
That’s the thing. You (general) are not supposed to work so hard to figure out the narrative of a show. It’s not supposed to be so confusing. When a decent show is made, even if you wish it had a little more of this or that you can still appreciate it for what it was. Maybe you like the tone, maybe you like the setting, maybe you like how they dealt with that plot point, the themes, the actors, the characters. Even if you wish it to be something else you can understand it for what it was and what it said. I don’t see that with Step by Step. Either it tried so many things it played itself or it didn’t have a solid thing to begin with and even then one would be speculating about it. No Story Should Make You Speculate About What The Story IS. This show lost me after 2 weeks but Man was pretty and tall and everyone loved this show, I stuck around to watch it devolve into such a confusing mess and let me tell you - I won’t have done it for most actors but there was something about him in that cafe scene that made me want to continue watching. How I wish the potential of those first two episodes had actually been realized, like properly realized. But that’s tough when the only time these characters communicate is when they are drunk or about to lose something. It could have focused on Jeng’s relationship with his dad. idk why but when we first saw him I thought he was a loving parent who only wished his son would get his head out of his ass and do business like a good capitalist. He didn’t read as homophobic (and the show might still surprise me. ‘I said xyz but I didn’t mean it like that’ 'I was trying to protect you.’ Jeng’s ex could have been toxic. idk.). And like I understand why his dad would want that if his son is this incompetent at doing his job that he doesn’t seem to hate. I’d get it if it was a Troy Bolton situation but it’s not. At least we’ve not been show that it is. Any person who’d built a company to the biggest in the country would want it secure and in Asian Countries that means staying in the family. (lbr, in every country it means the same.) I’d understand, I’d sympathize if they just didn’t have the budget. Like Chains of Heart was confusing as hell and it didn’t have the budget but it was still solid about what it wanted out of the story it was telling. And it’s not like this is the first time DHH has made a show. All shows/movies from books/manga are supposed to improve on the novel. They are not supposed to inflate it to incomprehensible levels. And I don’t think it’s fair to put all the blame to Tee Bundit. He is the director but afaik he is only the director. He’s got nothing to do with the screenplay or the source material. DHH the company should have known better but it’s been messing around since day 1. (And I’m not talking about the episode 5 debacle.)
