Another map for the demo, this one is coming along nicely.
I don’t have as much time to work on Siklo anymore, but I have reworked the demo’s script to make it much more manageable, so even then I should make good progress on it.

I couldn't work on Siklo this week due to health reasons. :( Here is an unrelated Zelda fanart and hopefully next week I'll have something cool to show you guys!
I lost my glasses on Tuesday so I’ve been essentially blind and unable to work on my computer. Still, I can show you the status screen, more specifically Aki’s portrait. All the practicing with markers has helped me find a coloring style that matches my sketches instead of detracting from them, so I’m happy about this small thing.
And here is another marker illustration. I have about 5 of them planned, I still don’t know what I’ll do of them but at worst they make for promo art.
Progress!
Thanks to the custom vegetation brushes, creating the plant life in the maps is much easier and faster (the ones in this screencap still need hand-drawn shadows and lighting applied), but the rocks and other stuff I am drawing by hand. Some I may use as assets for other maps, others like the wall in the back will be exclusive to certain maps, but thankfully the painting process isn’t too terribly long. You can see a little gif with the different paint layers used for the rocks. How do you like the look so far?
Now that I can add pictures to reblogs on mobile... let's test it out by showing you the finished map!

Saturday Update! And this week I got stuff to show! After working a little bit more on gameplay, I junped to art assets. The first 2 pictures are defining size and style for the map sprites. As you can see I am using the ffix models as reference, I found them really charming with that slightly chibi but well formed bodies. Nana from Lilo and Stitch is there too, since I wanted to emulate the soft curves and shapes of her body. Trying to keep in mind the final size (about 4 tiles tall for tiny Aki), I made my best to keep details to a minimum and readable.
The other 2 images are for the Flute mechanic! Much like in Zelda games, learning and playing songs at special places will cause all kinds of effects and help solve different puzzles. Which version do you like, centered or to the side?
Thanks to everyone who pitched in with their opinions! I’m usually on mobile so showing your replies isn’t possible, but the unanimous opinion was to keep Aki to the side on the flute screen, so that’s what I’ll do!
A few weeks ago I won that super awesome drawing from @siklogame in a giveaway. I love it a lot and I was soooo happy (I still am XD). First thing I did was to put it in my wall, and there you have the picture! I admit I was a mix of lazy and problems so I couldn’t find the will to post it before, but now that I finally got a good free day, I’m making my post about it~ Thank you again for the opportunity and the drawing, makes me super happy to have it around!!!
Thank you for participating, and I'm glad you like the picture! Please keep supporting Siklo's dev in the future and spread the word as we work on the demo!
I wish I had more to show but anything is better than nothing. I’m trying my best to do regular posts but sometimes life gets in the way (by life I mean week-long migraines with nausea dizziness and fainting that have been going on for about 2 years), not that I want to make excuses but I wanted to explain that sometimes I might go silent about progress, but never giving up on Siklo!
Anyway, currently I’m working, funnily enough, on developing tools to make my map-making process faster and easier. In this case I’m creating custom photoshop brushes to be able to draw the forest maps fast and easy while still making them look as good as possible. The above is an example of them, though of course missing lighting, shadows and etc. Feel free to let me know what you think!
What is your favorite parts of a project to be working on?
I’m curious as to what your favorite thing to do is as far as your game goes. Personally mine is music since boundaries are very little. What about you?
Coming up with puzzles and eventing are my favorite non-art related part, and as for the art parts, everything!
I especially enjoy concept art and the first time I test out assets to see how things come out all together in the engine; for example a new map!:

RPG Maker Titles
So we all know there are a lot of titles out there, some that describe the game itself, some with personal meaning, some named after characters from your world. Then there’s the experimental projects go by a specific formula such as an adjective-noun combination (Marble Hornets, SlenderMan, CreepyPasta, All these are examples of Adjective-noun combinations) How did you come up with the name for your game?
Siklo's name is 'cycle' in Filipino, and it refers both to the 7 year nomadic cycle the tribes in the game use to travel between islands, and to something else you can only understand after finishing the game and knowing all the story.
Reblog this if you're an rpg maker development blog (or rpg maker blog in general) and I'm not following you!
I’d like to try and follow everyone making a game or talking or reblogging things about rpg maker. I want to make sure I got everyone here, so don’t be afraid to reblog. c:
I only follow blogs that are 70% or more rpg maker on this account since I want to keep my dash on this account mostly rpgm. If I don’t follow you, I’ll catch you in the rpg maker tags as best as I can.
@ Game Devs
What’s your favourite type of puzzle to make, and why?
Insult swordfighting puzzles.
How is RPG Maker MV nowadays?
I remember when it came out it had some problems, but how is it holding up today? Would it be worth to change from Ace? If you have any pros and cons to share, I’d be glad : )
With the current catalog of plugins, latest updates and possibility of HD graphics, I do think the change is worth it! I don't think Siklo would have the potential it has reached if I stuck to ace.
Enemy design time! These have been on my notebook for a while, and I decided to share them this week, since I've been too sick to work hands-on on the demo but still wanted to keep a regular weekly post schedule. So here we are! Some of the enemies are animals from the island that have been corrupted/possessed, while others are downright evil spirits that want a bite off some sweet, sweet human flesh.
What is something unique about your game?
Story-wise, there aren't a lot of games addressing romantic relationships where both partners love each other yet are also toxic to each other, and how to work towards becoming better persons for oneself and the other... with magic and while fighting evil spirits!
Gameplay wise, Siklo got a unique battle system based on battler position, equipment and collaboration to be able to get through the hardest battles, and a mix of classic graphic adventure puzzles and visual novel decisions to help push the narrative through gameplay!
We also have a pretty chill mantis shrimp dude in the cast that is pretty unique right?
