What Alexia considers the best for her child is subjective at best. Most parents wouldn’t consider a collar a regular behavioural encouragement tool. Silas, she knows, isn’t a regular man, however. "I do look forward to seeing such things. I will stop by, as and when time allows. I will be watching, however, with enjoyment to monitor his progress over his time with you. Should you ever need anything, do not hesitate to ask for it. St be necessary, I shall supply."

Most parents would, if they knew what Silas was truly like, keep their offspring far away from the man. Yet they don't. He's seen as a pillar of the community and he loves it. Gives him the opportunity to do all sorts of things without worrying about the damage to his reputation.

But Alexia's hardly regular, is she? Handing over her son to a man she barely knows, yet claims to be fully aware of. There's something odd in it. There's a lot odd in it, but what the hell. It sounds like fun.

"Do feel free to stop why whenever y'wish. I'll try to ensure he's not too exhausted to spend some time with his mama."

"You know what Cobbsy? Think it's a good time of year to forgive and forget and all that. So? What do you say we bury the hatchet and let by gones go by?" Dan offered his hand to shake with a smirk.

"Good time of year? What? What makes this time of year any different to the rest of the year? That doesn't even make sense. I think you're clutching at straws there. Also, smirking as you do that? Doesn't say much for your sincerity, does it? It'll take an awful lot more than that to bury the hatchet. You're a permanent thorn in my side, y'do realise this, don't you? I'm pretty sure that y'do because I suspect y'delight in irritating me."

      No matter how determined Ronny was to deny his strange attraction or show little to no signs of it’s existence, it was there. It felt idiotic for him to feel anything other than rage and fear for Silas after everything, but his mind thought differently. As if the situation at hand wasn’t already a tricky one without the mix of confused feelings attached. So, yes, the idea of getting ‘saucy’ was something not completely out of the question. 

      His eyes eventually slide back to his left, focusing again on Silas’s face as he responds. It didn’t matter how he attempts to avoid eye contact, his eyes are drawn to his. That and the fact that he was raised to always look at someone when they spoke to you. Manners had been a very important thing in his household when growing up. This could explain his nice-nasty and proper habits now. Ronny blinks slowly and frowns at that last bit, giving him an amused smirk.

                                    “What couldn’t I handle?                                                                                              I’ve handled a good portion of what you can do, haven’t I?” 

      The host chuckles as he pushes passed the fear that the statement actually triggered. If Silas was capable of the things he’d already done, he didn’t want to be on the receiving end of something worse. He sits up more as he takes another large swallow from that bottle, no longer holding back from the looks of it. He wipes at his mouth and leans forward, eyeing the other man curiously. “I suppose we’ll decide on what we’re actually doing after we get there. I’d love to visit your store.” Any time he’d gone in the past had been usually quick and not lingering, so he was interested in getting a better look.

There's a glimmer of wickedness in Silas' eye when Ronny asks what he couldn't handle and that's largely down to the fact that, in Silas' experienced opinion, what he has so far done is minimal in comparison to what he's capable of doing. If Ronny thinks he can deal with that, then good luck to him. Few people have started down that path and come out of it unscathed.

"Y'wanna see the store? Now that I can do. In fact, yeah, that sounds like a wonderful idea. Been a while since you were last there, hasn't it?" He's curious as to how much Ronny remembered of that night in the storage space beneath Rapture Records. How much of it haunted his dreams. Perhaps it's a little conceited - or a lot, depending upon your standpoint - that he hopes he's fuelled some nightmares in Ronny. There's nothing quite like the feeling of truly getting under someone's skin.

"Come on then, friend, let's take a stroll to my store. Y'alright getting up there?" There would be more alcohol for Ronny to avail himself off once they reached their destination, and Silas would be sure to keep it flowing. The more liquor there was, the more pliable Ronny would be and although he's displaying some considerable cordiality at the present, there's always room for more. Extending a hand, Silas offers to help the man up, and smiles.

   The more he talks with this potential customer     the more convinced he becomes that he doesn’t     really  want to have him as an  actual  customer,     but he didn’t have any room to argue.

    Funding was tight and he was at his wit’s end for how     to keep things going with the restaurant.

                    It might be worth it to cut his losses and bail…                                                               Ah, right customer.

            “Smell?  Oh, yeah.  Probably a problem              with the plumbing — getting that looked              into whenever the plumber shows up.”

                            Which was supposed to be over an hour ago.

    Vincent knew it wasn’t a plumbing issue, but his employees     — sparse as they were — had insisted on getting it checked.     He glances over towards the man again. Maybe if he said no     then he would consider going somewhere else but .  .  . money.

            “Listen, no offense, and believe me I’m              regretting it already but maybe Freddy’s              isn’t the ideal place for whatever you’re              doing for your kid.”

    After years working the business he had a feel for folks, and     being honest was the right thing, wasn’t it?

                                      He can feel a headache brewing already.

Telling Silas what he does or doesn't want will only ever have the opposite effect. It's his modus operandi to be so contradictory. So when the employee tells him this isn't the ideal place, Silas decides that it is exactly the kind of place he's looking for.

"Nonsense. My kid's gonna love it. Food and games, that's what they like at his age, isn't it?" Probably not, give that little Jimmy wasn't all that little. But it's a testament to Silas' utter lack of experience that he's so blindly oblivious to that little fact. Poor kid would wonder what had hit him, walking into a place like this.

"The standard way of booking these things is to put down some kinda deposit, right?" He asks, pulling his wallet out of his pocket and flipping it open. There's enough cash in there that he can easily cover whatever the guy asks. "I'll take the full works, whatever that is. Nothing but the best for my boy."

If he's picking up on the  vibes emanating from the man, he's effectively ignoring them. Silas has never had much care for what people think about him, whether positive or negative. You don't get anywhere in life if you worry about shit like that and he's certainly got somewhere. So what if he's had to trample over people to get there? Life's tough, ain't it?

    He didn’t think he’d catch Silas by surprise, and yet here he is — having done just that. The hand against his thigh holds on a little tighter when the kiss is returned. Now he’s the one who’s surprised for some reason. Being drunk doesn’t make him any better of a kisser and belatedly he realizes that and draws back slightly. Part of him wants to lean in again and so he does but instead he lays his forehead on Silas’ shoulder and laughs.

    Definitely not come to his senses yet it would seem. When he finally stops chuckling he straightens up — with a distinct sway and then sits back down on his own stool. He spins towards the bar and looks at one of his nearly empty bottles of beer and considers reaching for whatever it is Silas was drinking and taking it too so he can stop what comes out of his mouth.

   ”I like you Silas.”

    Well too late for that. He scowls at the bottle of beer like it’s the beer’s fault for not stopping him in time. In his mind he’d just said something irreversible and that would probably ruin his friendship with Silas somehow and he’s regretting it already. Waylon stands back up — too quickly and he nearly falls on his face, but grips one of Silas’ shoulders to help, but when he realizes it he lets go and coughs.

   ”M’pretty sure I should go home.” He doesn’t want to but he knows that he needs to. If he could get there without toppling over though is the question of the hour. Judging by the slur to his words and posture — he’ll maybe get past the threshold of the door before tripping.

For all Waylon's belief that he's not a good kisser, Silas is fairly enjoying it. It may come as a surprise, but he doesn't do that much kissing. It's a very intimate thing in his opinion and he doesn't fare well with intimacy. There's too much giving of himself involved in intimacy, which he dislikes. Even on those occasions where he does kiss, although there is plenty of lust, and perhaps a hint of passion, there are no deeper feelings. It's just an addition to the sexual act which is deemed necessary.

The kiss he shares with Waylon is nice and while that might not sound like a particularly enthusiastic descriptor, when genuinely applied, it's highly positive. Silas doesn't find many things to be nice. The first cup of coffee and cigarette of the day definitely fall into the category or nice, as do creme filled cakes, slender ankles, soft, full lips and the feeling of putting on a record for the very first time and letting an unfamiliar melody flood his senses. But besides those things, there isn't much.

It's over all too quickly for Silas' liking but he lets Waylon go, hiding his reluctance behind a mask of amusement. Grinning at first, he's soon infected by the giggles and chuckles along, even if he doesn't know what's so funny. All traces of mirth vanish, however, at Waylon's statement. It's clear from the follow up reaction that he regrets saying it and Silas isn't yet sure how he feels about it. It's not the first time he's heard those words, and usually they wash over him, earning a wry chuckle and not much else. But this time...

"You could go home or you could stay here with me, get blind drunk and then remember nothing of tonight when you wake up tomorrow." Which sounds like a pretty good idea. It's what Silas plans on doing because his thoughts are scattered, all over the place, and he really doesn't like it. All things considered, getting thoroughly wasted sounds pretty good right now.

A Penny for Your Thoughts

          It wasn’t hard to imagine himself plastered on posters, his voice reigning across radios broadcasting throughout Rapture. And hell, maybe if they were smart about everything and if Andrew Ryan truly was a man of the future - he would reopen their city to the world and Peter could spread his fame and talent across the globe.

                        Baby steps; he told himself. You’re not even                         on any stage let alone a big one, platformed                         for the greatest performers in history.

         Peter couldn’t hope to hold back the grin spreading ear to ear, excitement dazzling across vibrant features. Maybe dear ol’ dad was wrong after all. “Ye-yeah. I’d love that more than anything, Mr. Cobb. Heh.. I’ll be willing to take risks if the odds are well enough in favor.” Good looks weren’t all that the kid had, he did have talent, he did know how to jig a tune out of a piano and memorize just about any dance given the right amount of rehearsal. Not to mention, the magic tricks. Though, Peter is pretty sure that even Silas isn’t interested in any hocus pocus. That wasn’t something in his neighborhood — maybe when they’re on closer terms than just a passing stage-hand and a masterwork of records.

                            Now the real dilemma begins.                                       Which number?

         Dark brown eyes scan the empty seats before they venture to the piano carefully placed off to the side. He sidles up to the keys, slender fingers working across the ivory already honed by another, one Mr. Fitzpatrick. Surely he wouldn’t mind, and surely Cohen couldn’t make a scene if he weren’t here in the first place. This was for the greater good of entertainment after all.

        Without further hesitation, it took a record of mere seconds before the theater was bouncing around the tune of the piano. A crescendo here, a fade of movement there. It was a peppy, cheery kind of tune that devolved into a charade of lower, slower played keys. It wasn’t before long that Peter’s voice accompanied it either. An inspirational kind of tune, full of seaside dreams and a blossoming jealousy of the artist. Overall convincing and not a shred of shrillness to be found in the tenor’s voice.

It's so easy to tap into what makes Peter tick and make promises. Can he keep those promises? Potentially, but a lot of it hinges upon whether the boy is any good or not. Even if he isn't, Silas will tell him he is and that's not because he wants to encourage Peter and coax him into improving. It's because no matter what happens when the kid opens his mouth to sing, there's an opportunity here just waiting for Silas to step in and exploit it. Besides, it wouldn't be the first time he's had to perform a little trickery in the studio. There are ways and means of improving a voice, whether it be by sprucing it up with some fancy effects or having someone else come in and overlay their vocals.

His surprise, therefore, is quite clearly etched on his face when Peter begins to play. The boy has talent, quite considerable talent and that is a truly wonderful thing to Silas. He takes up a position, close to the piano and stands, hands thrust into his pockets, while he listens. If this is an original composition, it's impressive. Why on earth Cohen hasn't figured out this boy has ability is beyond Silas, but it's fortuitous for the producer. Cohen's loss is very much Silas' gain.

At all times, Silas operates on two planes of existence. There's the side that most people see, the sometimes genial store owner who dabbles in activities of an adult nature and who has little regard for people most of the time. Then there is the side of him which veritably lives and breathes music. This latter side of him is quite thoroughly piqued at the performance he witnesses; if he were a man given to overt displays of emotion, he might even wipe away a tear from his cheek. Music speaks to him on a level few understand, and in Peter's playing he finds not only flair and capability, but promise.

This boy has the potential to go far and Silas will see to it that he succeeds. There is, of course, the possibility that this is nothing but a fluke. One good performance does not make a star and there are areas in which Peter can improve, but it has been far too long since Silas had the opportunity to mould and shape a young musician. The very thought of taking this kid and polishing him up to be the diamond he deserves to be fills Silas with excitement.
