I should probably actually set some ground rules here shouldn't I? Probably should have done it sooner actually.

Lets start with what I will do.

I will respond to every prompt I receive, not always with a story, but I will respond so that you know I got it.

I will do write most kinds of stories from fluff to whump.

I will add or change tags if anyone needs me to.

I will always ask permission to put anything on this blog that I did not make. (If you make something for something I made I will always double check, even if it specifically says you want me to see it.)

Now for what I won't do.

I won't write NSFW content. (I may imply something happened but I will never write out a scene about it.)

I won't write character death. I can never bring myself to do it...

Here's some stuff about me.

I have ADHD and a mild form of autism. I am high functioning but I can often misinterpret things.

I am a cis white woman. I don't claim to understand the deep and omnipresent hardships minorities face and I will not write about them without being specifically asked to because I do not want to misrepresent them in any way that makes them seem less serious then they really are.

I am acearo. I am not sex repulsed and sexual content does not upset me specifically. (beyond the "Wayne doesn't want NSFW stuff being made" thing. If you make content like that and you make it so it is something he is likely to ever see you're an asshole. Make it if you want, but don't make it public.)

I am more comfortable writing some characters then others. In order of most comfortable to least those characters are: Gordon, Benrey, Tommy, Coomer, Bubby, Darnold, G-man and finally forzen. (I have no clue how to actually write forzen...)

The average time it takes me to respond after seeing a prompt varies based on how I'm answering it. If I'm asking for clarification I usually only takes me a few minutes. If I'm responding with information or a headcanon it usually takes up to 30 minutes. If I'm wrong a story it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple days if I'm not having difficulties for some reason or another. Unless my ask box is closed I will always want more prompts.

I will be changing this post as time goes on.

I should probably but my headcanons here so that you all know what I would be willing to write.

The only reason Gordon was so aggressive to benrey during the series was because he was having a string of mental breakdowns and couldn't control his temper. He normally is very polite and gentle.

Benrey, Tommy and Mr. Coolatta (G-man) aren't human. I don't know what they are, but they're not.

Tommy, Benrey and Gordon are all mildly autistic at least. Bubby might also be mildly autistic but its difficult to tell sometimes.

Gordon thinks benrey is hilarious when he's not having a breakdown. Benrey is a massive flirt. They get together pretty much immediately after the series because benrey genuinely apologized and Gordon had time to calm down after everything.

Bubby and dr. Coomer are married and hopelessly romantic. They adore eachother.

Tommy is acearo (that's not me projecting, I just genuinely see him as someone who has lots of friends but no romance.) And is best friends with darnold.

Gordon and mr. Coolatta are great dads and no one can change my mind. They would go to war for their children.

Mr. Coolatta tries to help a lot, but something usually gets in his way.

Everyone human is cis Male. Bubby is agender, but probably couldn't care less and is fine with either he/him or they/them. Benrey is somewhere between nonbinary and masculine, same pronouns as bubby.

"Forzen is an asshole. I wish he wasn't, but he threatened to kill a dog over a guy on the internet and nothing will change that.

Forzen and benrey were dating. Forzen was terrible to and for benrey."

Okay, so I was wrong. Something can change the above. I've been given a story for frozen that saves his character and I'm using it. Now he's a himbo with a tragic past and no clue what a dog even is.

Who's the one with pink hair playing with dolls?

That would be jet. His back story is that he was in the black ops, escaped during the res cas and found and made up with forzen a while after and now he hangs out with the science team and team nice. (meaning the actual canon characters.)

Eventually he'll move in with Gordon because Gordon is just a magnet for literally everyone... Gordon loves them all and wouldn't trade any of his friends for the world.

(There's like 9 canon characters in hlvrai and even with the characters from half life canon thrown in that still leaves a very empty world. Jet makes the world fuller and makes space for very interesting character interactions.)

gordon gives benrey a pet frog as a present for being good and not bad because they aren't bad

I've been thinking about this and today is the day I'm going to write it, just for you guys. Unfortunately I need just a little bit of help with the ending. Benny, Think you could help? @abbyfreemansmind

Gordon puts away his phone after sending the final text.

"Hey Benny, how would you feel about sleeping over at Tommy's for a couple days? He said he got a new game we could marathon and it has lots of cartoons guts and gore."

Benrey looks up at him from their computer. Today is a bad day for acting understanding what is being said to them. Gordon repeats himself, chuckling quietly. Benrey nods eagerly, knowing Tommy finds the best games, and goes to pack for another awesome sleepover. They don't even notice when Gordon doesn't stop them from overpacking.

The drive there is more fun then usual, with Gordon letting him play crazy frog on repeat the whole drive, despite how visibly irritated it seems to make him. When they get there darnold, forzen and even one of the remaining/defected black ops members is there... he has pink hair and is playing with some expensive looking dolls. Gordon goes to introduce himself and gets slapped with pink tentacle hair... definitely whatever the fuck benrey is...

Back at the Freeman residence work crews start to show up, being led by a one of Gordon's friends from black mesa.

"Where do we put the supplies Mr Calhoun?"

"Anywhere that isn't a flower bed is fine."

He heads inside to feed maribelle and cats, stopping briefly to set Nikola somewhere safe. Nikola chirps pleasantly and barney give him a quick pet before laying down the food bowls and heading back out to direct the work crews.

Nikola hops down, gently bouncing over to the cats, trying to swipe a tiny bit of food only to stop short at seeing maribelle. His spines stand on end for a moment before she looks at him, blinks and happily trots away and flops onto her doggy bed for a nap. Nikola relaxes and grabs a bite of cat food before hopping back to the counter where barney set him to eat.

Barney can be heard outside directing crews where to dig and where the large stones making up the cave will go. Nikola peeks out the window as men are digging out a lovely place for a swim and building a nice, dark cave to hide and rest in. Nikola is pleased with this place and will have to visit later. He sees barney looking at his talking rock, seemingly happy.

Back at Tommy's house benrey is starting to notice that Gordon seems really excited about something on his phone and is about to ask when there's a knock on the door. Forzen grins and goes to answer it, which makes benrey very curious. They follow quietly and see Forzen hugging another ex-soldier. Forzen rushes him back to the others and introduces him as adrian.

Darnold and Gordon head out to get lunch while everyone else gets to know each other and play games. As soon as he's out of their hearing range he calls barney to finalize the plans.

After three days of gaming, sleepover activities and hanging with ex-soldiers benrey is very much ready to go home. Gordon seemed really excited to leave too, which makes them very curious what Gordon is doing. As they drive home he keeps getting more and more excited about something and it's honestly contagious, making benrey start bouncing in his seat as they pull into the driveway. They watch Gordon grab all of their things and smile brightly at them.

"Hey, could you head to the back and water the flowerbeds?"

Benrey nods and gets out of the car, heading around the house and opening the back gate only to freeze in place at the sight before them.

The back garden was transformed, a pool filled with young lily pads and reeds spread across the yard, bordered by dark stones. Behind the pond there's a small cave, dark and damp, but fitting. A small bridge across the pond to a small sheltered area where a fairy circle has formed. The quiet chirps of frogs can be heard from the cave and at the bottom of the water benrey can see tadpoles darting around. A chumtoad sits peacefully basking on the pools edge.

They hear the back door open and arms wrap around them from behind.

"Happy birthday! Do you like your gift?"

My headcanons for bubby (and most of my headcanons for the other characters.) Come from the experiences of my friends and were told to me with a certain degree of confidence. They are aware of this. It's one of the reasons I'm so vague about certain topics, so I don't say something that will remind them about it.

In other words, you will not be getting "bubby tube angst" based around my headcanons. If you want tube angst please send a more specific prompt for it.

Gordon doesn't hit himself to stim... usually... but he can and will literally pull out his own hair if he becomes too stressed.
