Even symbolic support is not meaningless; with every such gesture you are preventing the claim that no one cares, no one opposes, no one disagrees, no one minds.
The current situation is horrific. I grew up in the shadow of the Cold War, expecting nuclear strikes at any minute. It feels as if we are back to square one. I cannot imagine the courage it takes for Russian citizens to protest, facing the prospect of being beaten and bundled into a van to face who knows what fate. I cannot imagine the strength of the Ukrainian people as they face down this hideous aggression. This is just the first domino of many. We have to stand with Ukraine.
