flapping- feeling your hands bounce and your wrists twirl and your fingers flick in and out and in and out. Wiggling your arms, feeling gravity weigh down on them, feeling your muscles send them flying high. Kicking up your legs, curling your toes and shaking your feet, feeling so happy that your whole body flaps with it
twirling- spinning and spinning, seeing your hair in your face, watching your clothes billow out and twist around, wrapping your arms around yourself to go fast, or stretching them out and feeling the air rush over them
rocking- swaying and tilting and flowing, slow at first, then faster and faster. Leaning forwards and back, moving your body in big circles, small circles, triangles and octagons and all sorts of shapes.
hair twirling- the feel on your fingers in your hair, the soft, cool stands sliding between them, the pleasant pressure on your scalp, making little ringlets, tight twists, braids, twirling the hair until it’s a ball atop your head. Letting it go and watching it uncurl
singing- closing your mouth and humming, letting music vibrate through you, letting it build in your chest and poke through your lips, seeing how high you can go, how low you can go. Opening your mouth wide, belting out songs, whispering them, who needs to talk when you can sing?
repeating- feeling your lips stretch and scrunch up to make words, your tongue press against your teeth, hearing how lovely those words sound when they come out of your mouth, how soft or bright or bubblegum flavored. Mimicking until everything around you is pleasant words and good sounds and your ears and mouth are filled to the brim with happiness
oral fixation- rolling beads against your teeth with your tongue, the metal cool and clicking. Sinking your teeth into silicon squares and dragons, gnawing on plastic with your molars, denting wood with your canines. Sucking and chewing on your shirt collar, rubbing your tongue against the fabric
tapping- making drums out of everything around you. The loud, hollow sounds of tap, tap, tapping on the washing machine, the pretty clicks of running your fingernails over glass. Drumming your fingers on the fabric of your clothes. feeling them bump, bump, bump on your shoulders and chest and legs
pressure- wrapping your arms right around you and squeezing until everything is just right. Heavy blankets, layers of jackets, holding your pets in your lap and feeling the pleasantness of it all pressing down on you. Hugs, a friends head on your chest, weighted blankets filled with rice that sound so pretty when you shake them
shaking- legs bouncing, up and down, up and down. Clenching your muscles till your arms vibrate a mile a minute. Hearing your chair bump the floor as you move, watching your hands flutter and fly so fast that they’re blurrs
making sounds- clicking. feeling your tongue press against the roof of your mouth, moving fast and quiet or slow and loud. popping, sucking in your cheeks, puckering your lips. Hissing, letting the air squeeze past your lips. Going from high to low, low to high, making your mouth a symphony
jumping- bouncing. Popping up and down on the balls of your feet. jumping from leg to leg, knees bent, hair flying up and down, feeling your heart soar and fall with gravity. Big jumps, so far off the ground you think you might never come down, until you do with a satisfying bang! Small jumps, like a little ballerina on their toes, landing soft and fast
