As, ah, interesting... as this new gene is, I think this, alongside the past few festivals’ gear is what will make the Silent Shadows fall dark in hiatus.

As talented as the creative team is, since the new year there’s been something missing, lacking, accumulating with every update.

We have one last nest to hatch, then the Shadows will fade.

We find the community grand and amazing, on Flight Rising and Tumblr, and wish everyone luck and fortune in their future endeavors. 

Racing stripes?  Really?  The copy-pasted Shadow and Water flight holiday gear is bad enough, now this?  This time-sink is no longer amusing.

here are some of the guardian subspecies i spoke about in this post!

given that guardians are from the sea, the marine guardian up top is the archetypal guardian from which all others descended. it can fly (badly) but it spends most of its life underwater. its legs (and the legs of most of the guardians here) might seem bulky but they are in fact laterally flattened, like flippers

the coastal guardian is the most wide-ranging and successful of guardian subspecies, but it’s just a cross between inland and marine and isn’t illustrated here. 

all these dragons, with the exception of the inland guardian, will spend the majority of their time in the water, circumstances allowing 

the smallest is the inland guardian, followed by the freshwater, while the largest is a toss-up between polar and abyss

Seeing @osiemfr hybrid dragon drawings inspired me to do my own. It’s suppose to be a FaexCoatl hybrid but it kinda just turned into a fae with feathers and an extra set of wings.

and done! well, for now, anyway. still not too happy about the colour balance so i might come back and add some more adjustment layers at some point, who knows.

my librarian, Saib! i’m not sure quite what she’s planning to do with all of those pages, though. best just leave her to it. added some crops at 100% - this one’s not actually that big, but i wanted to show off some of the details that tumblr would otherwise have eaten.
