* I feel no need to ruin the world or save it. I observe it. *
I am a demon, and for me, it has long ceased to be dramatic. It is simply a state. I still work as an archivist for special collections, because archives suit me: places where nothing needs to be redeemed, only preserved. I don’t collect souls. Only traces. Letters, contracts, confessions, estates of people who believed their words would one day be meaningless.
As a demon, I don’t stand out. I look like someone who listens. And that is what I do. People tell me things without realizing it. Perhaps they sense that I don’t judge. Perhaps that I’ve heard worse. Morality, to me, is not black and white, but an archival system full of gray zones.
My immortality doesn’t make me cold, only patient. I recognize patterns. I know how guilt takes new names, how the same mistakes are repackaged every few generations as if they were inventions.
I feel no need to ruin the world or save it. I observe it.
