The film «SILKBOX» riding a long psychogeographic drift opens a box full of daily life stories settled in the neighborhood of Metaxourgeio-Kerameikos. Metaxourgeio took its name by the silk (“μετάξι”, “metaxi”  in Greek) factory which was operating in the area from 1854 since 1875. "Like the silkworms in a cocoon, we sleep dreaming of escapes from the silk web" "The majority of the people will not reach the metamorphosis. It would be long gone by this day, because all the energy applied to build their comfort zone, the cocoon, will be consumed weaving the silk" In a time when the illusion of the future is broken people are forced to focus on the present, finding happiness through common support, starting taking back an old tool. Solidarity. The film gives a different point of view that can reverse the static media cliché of everyday life in Athens.

“The silkworm is the caterpillar of the domesticated silkmoth, Bombyx mori. It is the primary source of silk that makes it an insect economically important. Domestic silk moths, as a result of millennia of selective breeding, are entirely dependent upon humans for survival. Wild silk moths are not as commercially viable in the production of silk as the domesticated variety which has increased cocoon size, growth rate, and digestion capability. It has also gained tolerance to human presence, loss of fear of potential predators and living in crowded conditions. It cannot fly, so needs human assistance in finding a mate. Sericulture involves raising healthy eggs through the chrysalis stage when the worm is encased in its silky cocoon. The chrysalis inside is destroyed before its metamorphosis so that the precious silk filament remains intact. Due to its miniature size and ease of culture, the silkworm has become a model organism in the study of arthropod biology”
