This young man earned his degree in environmental studies, focusing on conservation ecology, from the University of California Santa Barbara after a grueling five years at school. He was in the middle of working on his master’s, but was missing the requisite field experience. Finding work in any relevant fields immediately after was, naturally nowadays, extremely difficult right off the bat. But after an unusual stroke of luck, he wound up applying and being interviewed for a position teaching environmental literacy, policies, history, and human impact. 

Honestly he had no desire to be a teacher, especially when he initially heard where exactly he would be teaching. But he’d be damned if he turned down something that paid that well, even if they were evidently eager enough to hire someone as fresh-faced as himself. Besides, the idea of helping people in need better understand their involvement with the world and potentially even earn green jobs was a sweet idea.

He loves to cook. Nothing makes him prouder than creating something wonderful in both appearance and taste. He was always a bit of a stickler for pretty things, and is secretly a bit of a romantic at heart; though only because he sees it as something he’ll never have. He also likes to sing - but he sucks.

Not afraid to speak his mind, but always maintains an air of someone with a secret. First impressions may portray him exactly how he sees fit, and that’s usually as a friendly, smiling, almost warm personality - though usually this just means he wants something from someone. In reality, he is much more quiet and cold, and would really only prefer to spend his time doing things or with people he deems acceptable.

“That’s my old man,” The sinking feeling that they were actually related was now more obvious than ever. “If you’re about to tell me that you’re also 24 years old then this might just be getting too weird.” he said through nervous laughter. “Related is a short way of putting it. I think that we might be twins…Never thought being sent to prison would turn out like this. I…I have a lot of questions now. So if I was with our dad, does that mean…You got to grow up with our mom, huh?” The thought of a mother was a touchy subject for him, having always wanted to know what it would be like to have one. “So I guess I’m the family disappointment.”

     Dante had to swallow down the disgust building up in his throat, though the imagined taste didn’t leave him. His mother had told him about his father, how he’d left them when he was born and moved across country to ‘live out his life.’ Because of him, Dante had to grow up with his stepdad. He hated him for it. “Yeah... twins. He must have taken you.” Was all he said at first, cringing at him saying our mom, mind racing a mile a minute. His mom never even hinted at this... “I guess so. Sucks meeting you like this, uh... Vernon? Viirgil? This is kinda throwing me off and I need a drink.’

Virgil knew of the theories of how there was at least five people with your same features scattered across the world, but for this to happening right now was surreal. The boy had never experienced shock and awe like this before, as if he was looking in a mirror, one that didn’t mimic his exact movements and yet he could not look away. At the question of why he was in here, he smirked, crossing his arms in defense as he stood in front of Dante. “The name’s Virgil, Virgil Hastings, and as for why I’m here…I pissed off some very powerful people who wanted me to either be dead or be thrown somewhere where I wished I would be dead instead. That’s what I get for messing with the corrupt part of the one percent.” he sighed. “I’m from New York myself, how about you? Who are you, and why do you have my face? I mean I’ve always wondered if I was hot, so thanks for confirming that for me. Gotta say I also love the added muscles too.”

     At least the guy wasn’t in for anything terrible. Dante would never be mad at someone for fucking with the one percent. “Virgil Hastings... Virgil Hastings...” Not only was the face so familiar, but the last name as well. Among his current storm of emotions came to the forefront a new one - anger. “Here in California. You said you’re from New York. Do you know a Robert Hastings?” He asked, eyes a bit narrowed as he stared at him. So smug, this Virgil. “I guess we’re related... and, uh... thanks?”

From the side the so called teacher looked easy on the eyes, a strong build, and from what he could see the guy was somewhat annoyed by him. With a small smile he stepped forward, gathering the books in an attempt to at least offer a hand to the other man, but as soon as he truly locked eyes with the other the books fell once more. “You’ve got to be shitting me.” It was like looking in a mirror, and sure there were a few slight differences, the other was a tad broader, had more muscle on him, but their faces, their eyes, everything that he could scan at the moment, looked exactly the same. Out of instinct he came forward, trying to see if what he was looking at was real. Slowly his hand came up, fingers trailing softly over skin. “Holy fucking shit, this is real…” he said taking a step back. “What does this mean?”

     Despite the heat of the day streaming through the open window behind him, Dante felt chills throughout his body. Tiny hairs stood up on his neck and arms, his heart racing, experiencing so much confusion, shock, and unease that he nearly went into fight or flight. “You’ve gotta be...” he began to mumble, shutting up immediately as soon as those words were completed instead by his duplicate. Like opposed batteries, when the other came forward the slightly more robust of the two backed up, although immediately stopped by his desk. He just stared dumbfounded into the other’s face - his face - until the soft and gentle, brief touch had his mind working again. “Who... are you? What’s your name?” He asked slowly, tone mixed between defensive and pure wonder. It wasn’t often Dante was caught so off guard. “Where are you from? Why are you in here?”

Being locked up wasn’t the worst thing he could be right now, he could very well be dead with how many people had a grudge against him. But how was he to know that scamming and hacking a bunch of the elite and their companies would rile them up so much? So for now he would just accept that this was his new life and that his skill set at least made sure that those people could not get their money and information back. What he didn’t expect was one of the staff being so young and so…clumsy. “If this is how class is gonna be everyday I sort of worry for my safety. Don’t want books flying at my head and all. Least the teacher’s hot.”

     “Sorry, what now?” He didn’t bother to hide the annoyance in his voice, mostly stemming from slight embarrassment despite the pretty half-assed compliment. Dante’s first look at the other was the prison slippers stepping around his fallen books, and he tried reigning in his tone a bit more. Couldn’t go off on a potential student like that.  But then his gaze trailed upwards, and he did an honest triple take as he saw long legs and arms, a strong but slim build, curly brown locks, full lips framing an easy smile, and bright hazel eyes. “... What the fuck.”

The guy looked almost exactly like him.

Clive nodded at him with a wider grin to his face as the guy seemed hopefull about his class. For a moment, while the young teacher was pulling his sleeves up, Clive looked at the guard standing nearby, he had eyes locked on Clive, people really were so fast on thinking the worst about him, he wasn’t a dangerous or even violent person, at least he didn’t thought that about him, Clive was actually very peaceful. “I believe being here is not much different from the lives we have outside.” He shrugged and moved his gaze back at him. “Prisions aren’t only the ones with iron bars, and freedom isn’t about walking the streets, it’s all a matter of consciousness, if you’re a man locked up in here but with your mind so rich and filled with every tool you need to feel like a free man, there’s no prision in this world that can put limits on you.” Clive grinned once again, his gaze turned one more time over to the guard, blinking at him as he could see the man’s intolerant sharp look at him after that. He let out a light chuckle and uncrossed his arms, tucking both hands into his pockets. “I’m Clive, Clive Hendersen, or like some people call me, Innmate 29476. But please, call me Clive. It will be easier for you to remember when you start seeing me in your classes.”

     Dante would be lying if he said he hadn’t heard that ideology before, and to an extent he agreed with the other male’s words. To an extent. The sentiment was lovely, but a free mind couldn’t reunite incarcerated folk with their loved ones, particularly those with petty crime charges. But then again, what did he know? He just got here. “I’ll take your word for it, Clive,” he said with a little laugh. “That’d be lovely, I hope you learn a thing or two.Have you ever had any interest in environmental science, ecology, anything like that?” He asked, giving him an intrigued once over.
