Younger than him though she might be, still it seems Tauriel is WISER than her years - a mind forced to grow accustomed to the cruelties of the world far too soon. It scolds his soul to think of what she has seen, what she has SURVIVED - and so, even as light feet carry him swiftly through the halls (errands must still be run, after all), he smiles at her, and slows his pace just enough for her shorter legs to catch him.
When she speaks, he cannot help but quirk a brow - he understands, of course. This is not something out of the ordinary; he himself was only a young one when first a bow rested against his palm. Yet still, this is something he cannot speak of with honest CERTAINTY.
