Wait no, slight lie. We got to play once (a week ago?). We got the Kyoto trip (Bebe was there! Yay!). The slap happened tho (NOOOO BOOOO! D:<), and from what I remember it was even more uncalled for than the other versions. So yeah that solidified that "no matter how nice you make Yukari sound, her actions still piss me the fuck off"

Anyway hot spring scene, Junpei still a doucher. REALLY WEIRD they changed it???? Felt more like a 3D ver of P3P's for some reason???? (i don't usually play the male's side with P3P so I don't have it as memorized as the FeMC side or 3/FES vers). Like???? You removed the ONE kinda cool thing about P3's hot spring scene and it was the interaction! P3P gets a pass because it's in VN style so it's choices. But what's P3R's excuse???? TT0TT Why did you get rid of the interaction in exchange for dialogue choices????

They also changed the ending porting iirc.....? Maybe there's more than 2 endings. But it did make me go like...."why?"

I think it's the movie's influence again, I successfully got out, we made a break for the entrance. But unlike the movie they all got out, with Junpei/Ryo fainting by the entrance rather than in the hot spring itself.

I......don't really see the need to change it tbh, it made more sense for Junpei/Ryo to faint while we waited out IN the hot spring...but maaaaybe there's other routes and I just didn't see them. I'll have to find out later when I.....reload it. BU

Anyway, Chidori died. Junpei was sad. I was apathetic as usual. I think I'm in Tartarus now.

Maybe I'll play more this week. Maybe I'll nut up and try to play Fortnite (I hate multiplayer games with a passion), but I want the Korra stuff. ;w; Do I have to play PVP to do the battle pass? Can't I just do PVE? (sorry off topic, but that's my dilemma atm). Gonna be honest, I thought Persona would get me into that damned game, but nope. TT0TT Korra beat them to it

I do think P3R could've given us a LITTLE more wiggle room. Couldn't give us that lil URL thing a biiiiit sooner? >_> Just make it more expensive for crying out loud! That should balance it!

Of course maybe they didn't do that so they could cover up for the (still?) lack of mini games in the damn game (really? you couldn't copy and paste the P5 fishing game???? I see a damn pier in the background while I'm on the school rooftop! TT0TT)

.....Let's just say shit hit the fan for me on Thursday and I've gotten REALLY busy....ummmm.....fixing it so I can get back to my normal routine? Is that the best way to describe it (I still have stuff to do, but I'm not longer in "emergency mode")? I haven't picked up any game stuff since then (I literally passed out yesterday night cause I was so tired jfkldsjf). (oh wait, I'm so out of it I misread it as only asking about Ryoji....lol, well I'm talking about him first I guess, )

Going off the one interaction....... Yuri. I prefer Yuri. I already preferred Yuri's Pharos to Aleks' Pharos. I like both as MC.

There's something about Yuri's........Between OG/FES/P and the manga...... But Aleks' Ryoji feels more like it fits the P3 movies (same with Ikutsuki tbh). There's something about THAT portrayal of Ryoji that hits different compared to the other's.

THAT BEING SAID. I'll take Aleks. BUT ONLY if that means we can have Yosuke going back to not sounding as squeaky. TT0TT I can handle Adachi's voice change (feels like he decided to put on a more deranged mask). But Yosuke I want him back to sounding chiller. orz

Um....Aki's ok. I don't mind him. There's something about Liam's voice I prefer BUT, I wouldn't mind the new guy coming back.

Junpei is good (both in general and as a replacement). Keep him (if I have to deal with Junpei again that is)

Mitsu is good. I prefer Tara tho. Nothing against the new girlie, Tara's just one of my fav VAs. (the other VAs I like are Naoto's OG, Laura Bailey, Lily Vonnegut, Jamie Marchi, Kristen Bell, David Gallagher, and KH1!Haley Joel Osment, Santino Fontana...something about their cadence makes my brain go brrrrr but like for diff reasons)

Speaking of Brrrr, I really like Yuko's and Shinji's a lot.

Both old and new Shinji are great. Love them.

Love the new Ken. I never hated his OG, and Cindy did a good job too. But the new one is really good.

Fuuka......she's cute (I'm more annoyed that they didn't add to her at all so far :'D thanks atlus). I miss the OG one. Wendee Lee did great too (she always sounded like a higher pitched ver of the OG to me).

I think I liked both Natsuki's VAs? I do miss the old one. I can't recall the new one's voice atm TT0TT

I think I like this Chidori VA more? I didn't mind the old one. (also Chidori run, stay away from Junpei TT0TT)

Aigis is better. I didn't mind the old one, but this was an improvement.

All the VAs for the SLs are great so far tbh (haven't done Moon yet, not cause I don't want to, but because it's optimal if I wait)

I think the thing that irks me about the new voices are.......the new voices for the already existing secondary/background chars (chars who were never voiced before? no problem). I. DON'T. LIKE. THEM.

"Oh but it's cool to hear!" or "We need Yuri to still get a check" I don't care. I don't like it. It's weird. It's weird hearing P3MC's voice coming out of Yukari's dad ("oh like Aki's is any better?" AKI ISN'T A LOVE INTEREST FOR YUKARI OUTSIDE HC! TT0TT)

I hate that they swapped Mitsu's dad and Kurosawa. Did they eat? Yea, they did great. Does it bother me because I find it COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY???? YESSSS!

My 9/11 is the damn principal's voice being changed. oh my god, it's not the same. He was so perfect in the OG, he was bumbling it just.....god it worked. The new guy.....doesn't give the same doddering vibe. man orz (I know most people are coming for the new Aki guy, or someone else, but man I'm very annoyed by the NPCs being changed orz)

I think one of THE BIGGEST issues I have with them just....redubbing the whole damn thing is (MORE SO the side NPCs than the main cast).....just how costly that must've been. Like stupidly costly, like they didn't need to do it. It was just wasting money kinda costly. Like they coulda used that money for something else, like I dunno....PUTTING THE FUCKING ANSWER AND FEMC IN????? >_> *inhales* I know I know I KNOW. Before you say it. Before my lil strawman I talk to in my head says it. The english localization's funds were probs separate from the JPN devs funds. I mean, unless Atlus JPN controls Atlus USA's funding directly, and thus have more direct involvement. I mean, haha, that'd make sense. Ummmm.....tldr; Liked some, loved some, was eh on others, hated the existing side NPCs got new voices. All in all I think it was probs a waste of money tbh. Don't do it again for the inevitable P4 remake. (P1/2? sure there's not a lot of dubbing in that one anyways)

Eh. They're a bit on the nose. Like Junpei's whole baseball shtick....

Other than him being a goober and holding his sword like that, I don' think it's mentioned anywhere before he played baseball. So when Ultimax showed up it was like "oh ok that's his thing now" and now P3R just feels very.....on the nose.

I think Aki has a ref and either I blocked it out or I'm not there.

(Junpei and Aki's aren't paced well, months apart I forget we need to hang with them, and i also don't like that Junpei's is tied to Chidori living ugh. Now I'm afraid if I don't give him the flowers I'll lock myself outta his next ep which locks me out of a persona and >_> If people bitch about Shinji they should be bitching about Chidori here too)

I like Ken's and Koro's, I swear they feel very similar to FeMC tho......Need to replay those links with her so I can compare and contrast (I like them tho)

Shinji was......ok. Not paced well (due to the time limit thing I wasn't sure what my grace period was so I did it all right then and then). I appreciate it more for fleshing out Mitsu and Shinji's bond than an actual bond with the MC (which really shows in the last link). And while I do find the difference with the FeMC interesting (MC was pushed to talking with Shinji and only learning about him in a round about way, FeMC chose to talk to him because she wanted to, and the drive to learn about him...that's what saved him).

Just got to Ryo, and did his first link. He feels so.....distant feeling....is it the VA change? Or that I'm used to him talking to FeMC.........hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....can't tell if he feels closer to original P3MC's ver or to the movie version...... Well that's for me to think about a diff day! :'D

As for her not knowing he likes to doodle (or at least used to?)...... Well.....I thought the scene indicated it was more-so in the past. So I'm guessing he doesn't do it now (or at least as often). And tbh unless he was like....Yusuke or something (wait is this happening because of Kanji/Yusuke.....I'm not going to look into that moving back!), you know an artist. I think Mitsu would've noticed. She's very......perceptive/wary of everyone's needs and that includes Akihiko.

As for the 3rd years closeness. I def think they are close (oh I was going to link to an old post.....did I never post it? hm.....we'll I guess I'll state it here from what I remember).

Shinji/Mitsu I don't see interacting much (most of it is in the PQs or P3R imo). But ShinjiAki and AkiMitsu? Hell YES. I think Aki is ironically the glue for these guys.

ShinjiAki are obvie because of how much the game spends on them. But the MitsuAki friendship???? Oh man....these two are RIDE OR DIE. TT0TT Like they usually understand each other's needs so well.

I feel like they speak about each other fairly casually, not in the Japanese sense but.....like they just will say stuff about each other "Oh yeah that sounds like them, that's what they like" and it's easier to notice with ShinjiAki cause I feel like it's baked more into the main story and AkiMitsu is mostly optional dialogue.

But the thing that made me super soft for them was when Yukari 1st confronts the group pre Yakushima. And demands to know stuff and Mitsu started almost spilling her trauma.

Mitsu: Anyway not all of us had a choice to fight.... I.... Aki: Mitsuru! Don't.....

This means.....Aki knows about what Mitsuru has gone through. Him not wanting her to spill everything I think he knows how much her own past has hurt her (not just her family's). She was more open talking about her family, and he didn't stop her. But when she almost talked about herself, I think he knew it might be too hard for her and told her to stop for her sake.

Between this and Mitsu covering up Shinji's killing (which I'm sure she feels responsible for not just the death but the cover up as well). And just trying to navigate Ken with Akihiko and keep it covered up..... The fact all three keep it covered up (and Ikutsuki is just...watching with pop corn TT0TT). They def are close.

(I was about to move on but I forgot the other thing!)

So another instance is after Mitsu's dad's death, if you talk to Aki during this timeframe, he legit says "When Mitsu is sad, I'm sad" and Fuuka(?) will comment on how upset he seems. Like this mfer is more upset looking when Mitsu is grieving than when Shinji died. TT0TT I was SO SOFT! My heart was in pieces kldfsaj;fa orz ;aljskfdjaf I still haven't recovered. I went from "yeah I like them they're neat' to "oh god my heart I love this ship gimme more" klfasdfl orz why do they hide all their amazing dialogue in optional convos????? orz orz orz Wait I saved the screenshots cause I was so shooketh! TT0TT

Ahem....ANYWAY!

I feel more for the 3rd year trio and their comradery than....well......the beginning Trio (MCs/Yukari/Junpei). Even the penta 2nd year group (MCs/Yukari/Junpei/Fuuka/Aigis) isn't that strong. Fuuka feels closer to Natsuki than the rest of SEES tbh TT0TT And Natsuki doesn't even get that much screentime u_u

The only trio that comes as close to the 3rd year is the moonlight bridge one (MC/Aigis/Ryoji).

Of course I feel like he game nerfs AkiMitsu's closeness in favor of pushing the bs MitsuYuk*ri friendship narrative >_> I dunno why Aki never approached her......was it helplessness? I dunno it feels weird.

So I guess narratively.....I guess they are kinda like friends who sit in the same room in silence, and then every so often to reveal a random fact about themself and the other is like "Oh wow cool" but they both really like that and thus will hide a dead body for the other person if needed. Like

*Aki/Mitsu/Shinji reading in the lounge* Mitsu: I found a nice cook book recently, would you like it Aragaki? Shinji: .........uh....yeah... Mitsu: Great I'll give it to you later.... *time passes* Aki: I broke a guy's nose at my last meet. Shinji: Good going meat head. Mitsu: That reminds me of when I broke a researcher's nose when I was 10. Shinji: Oh yeah? Why'd you do it? Mitsu: He wanted to test a new drug on me, it made my persona go a bit wild. I dunno that's kinda the surface level vibe they give off. TT0TT They know A LOT of the key stuff about each other, but don't seem to pry unless the other party starts it.

I'm playing with someone on my PS5 so I don't want to grind more than I need. I still think MC, Aigis, and Fuuka should be the only ones with Theurgy. MC/Aigis because it keeps us from spamming Fusion spells and Orgia mode. Fuuka because....it's a mix between evolving Oracle mode and just balancing the game so I have access to SP regen TT0TT

Pacing/Tutorials TT0TT Why????

Ok ok one last mini rant/critique.

Theurgy. How it goes down in the story.........did we really need it like that????

Ok so like we unlock Theurgy on 6/13, using up a night and being forced to explore Tar.

But....we already have a meeting on 6/20

And while I believe P3R gives us our night back on 6/20 (unsure about the older versions of P3), even if it balances the time out on the night missed on 6/13.....it still messes with the pacing.

The scene just kinda awkwardly ends on 6/20 after Yukari starts asking questions. But instead why doesn't Ikutsuki go "oh speaking of Tartarus, I almost forgot! We have new equipment for you!" And then do the whole damn Theurgy tutorial THERE!

Or just wait until I go into Tartarus again, and just TELL ME how to use Theurgy. If Akihiko has been the prototype person, then why doesn't he know more about it? Why do I have to go through a whole mini arc cutscene?

Yes I don't care for Yukari still. Yes I think the scene is just....."Oh we're doing this with her char now?" but my main issue is the pacing. TT0TT This game has So. Many. GD. Tutorials! I just don't think this little Yukari mini arc we needed to shove in there is so crucial to justify yet another tutorial.

Quit with the Tutorials. Let me turn off the Tutorials. Oh god am I really going to have to consider P5 might've handled tutorials better.....wtf orz

Anyway Theurgy.......I.....kinda don't like it?

It's a great mechanic for the MC and making it you don't spam Fusion Spells BUT ALSO you don't have to grind for them as an item.

I dunno playing on normal I feel like they are a little too OP.

Fuuka's I think might be a bit ok? On one hand you can't pop it every fight, on the other I don't think it has any negatives (you get a random buff still tho)? It's just Oracle that's balanced different. And considering the game already loves to screw you over with SP/Money/Twilight Fragments.......Her's can stay. It saved me on some items so that was nice

Anyway I say it's OP because I literally walked into Tar, went to some floor bosses, and didn't even make it to like the 2nd or 3rd round because I had a 4 party charge up and just went ham. Hell, there were some fights I didn't even make it to where I could use my 4th person's Theurgy lsdjflkjasf TT0TT

Maybe if they retooled party members so that all it does is 1) remove SP costs for a spell you wanna use that round. 2) MAYBE upgrade that spell up 1 level.

I know it's not as flashy, but I guess you can keep the animation (even tho it's just an upgraded Garu->Garula instead of severe wind klfjasfl TT0TT)

Oh, probs the last thing for today.

One thing that I noticed, and maybe I'm just blind/missing it, but iirc P5/R had a feature that would let you see your SL and see if it was ready for the next rank up.....with BOTH the map AND the point system during the previous rank up (aka the lil stars surrounding the musical note, they also appear for social stat stuff, less needed for the social stat stuff but not an issue regardless).

But I don't see that carried over in P3R???? Like I'm P5's biggest ragger, I will tear it down from here to sundown and to the end of time. But that was such a good quality life improvement!

But I.......haven't noticed this with P3R. Did they remove this feature? TT0TT Am I just blind?

What if Liz is replaced with Theo this time? I know like, she gets inspired to leave after the Answer.....but what if this time around she's inspired BEFORE? And then Theo has to take up her job.

Oh even better if Fuuka's like "huh that blue attire.....are you related to the one our leader fought?" (cause I don't think there was any type of reference in the OG Answer like that, even tho Fuuka would've seen Liz in the fight)

I mean this may cause an issue in the timeline BUT.....if my theory is correct, this is a diff timeline from the main continuity we're used to so....I say fair game! >:3c
