Celebrated my birthday this weekend. For those who showed up for me the day of yesterday and the night before, I am grateful for you. For those who took the time out to send me thoughtful messages, I am grateful for you. For those who, despite going through life crippling shit, took the time out to show me that I’m on the forefront of your mind, I am grateful for you all. I appreciate thoughtfulness and effort. I understand that we may not all be on the same page or even the same chapter these days, but I appreciate the effort put in to acknowledge that we’re still reading the same book, still part of the same story. What has come up for me a lot recently, as I’ve gotten older, is the fact that I’ve often accepted mediocrity in my interpersonal relationships, whether they be platonic, romantic, or familial. I guess some part of me believed that I’m receiving half-assed shit because I deserve half-assed shit. That is simply not true and as a testament to myself and the accomplishments I’ve achieved (with so much more to come) in my life, I am no longer accepting it. No slight at anyone else, but I get to own where I’m at with my life and attract what measures up, rather than settling for less. So for those truly show up for me everyday and made me feel nothing less than loved this weekend, thank you so much for making me realize that I’m worthy of so much more than I’ve allowed myself to receive.
