"you're just like a river."
It’s Halloween 1984 and Steve Harrington has nothing left. Nancy broke up with him. His friends ditched him. He’s storming out of the party with his hands on his face, sobbing when Eddie Munson who’s selling catches him and offers a ride Steve’s about to refuse but figures he doesn’t want anyone else to see him crying.
Steve collapses in Eddie’s passenger seat, shaking and ugly crying. Eddie has no clue what to do, so he just awkwardly pets Steve’s hair like he’s a stray dog. “Shit, Munson,” Steve sniffs, “you probably think I’m a pussy.” And Eddie goes dead serious shaking his head “No, man. I don’t.”
They are parked outside Steve’s dark empty house smoking what’s left of Eddies lunch box and Steve tells him everything. Nancy. Him losing friends and how it feels to be King of nothing. Eddie’s floored they’re even talking, let alone like this. But then Steve whispers it. “I just want to run away.”
Eddie doesn’t even blink. “Okay.”
Steve, startled: “Okay what?”
“Let’s run away.”
heyyy hiiiiiiiiii helloooooo!!!!!11 ‼️🌎⭐️
Eddie decides for once he wants to cook for Steve. “Let me romance you, Harrington.” Steve agrees reluctantly but he trust his boyfriend. Eddie cooks with the radio on, doing full air guitar solos with the spatula. Steve’s just leaning on the counter, stealing cheese and humming along to Metallica because he knows most of the songs from Eddie. The smoke alarm goes off and they have to order a pizza.
Fixing s4 ending 🙂↕️🙂↕️
Knight!Eddie for @novacorpsrecruit 🖤
This lovely piece done by @magsdoodle is based on Ch 6 from the fic Stranger Worlds by author varsavia on Ao3! Steve hops thru universes to find Eddie, & this one's in ancient Rome, where they're Emperor Geta (Gladiator II) and a warrior prince (Finalmente l'Alba) 😍🔥🙌
Oh. 𝙊𝙝.
The mood lightens after that, enough so that Eddie finally hears what’s softly playing out of Steve’s stereo.
“Is this Madonna?” He blurts.
“You got a problem with that?” Steve asks. Their eyes meet in the rearview.
“You’ll break Steve’s heart if you insult her,” Robin says.
“Look,” Steve takes his eyes off the road to glare at them. “She’s—”
“The popstar of a generation.” Robin, Nancy, and Jonathan chorus.
Eddie laughs. “Wow, you’ve got a serious thing for her, Harrington. I didn’t realize.”
“It’s not a thing.”
And it’s funny because Eddie can see how much it ruffles Steve. It’s the first time that his easy-to-rile anonymous Hellfire caller and imperious Steve Harrington have seemed like the same guy.
“Ah, but how much did you care before she rolled around on that stage singing Like a Virgin?”
Steve’s cheeks go pink, and the others laugh.
“I think she’s talented! She makes catchy music!”
Robin starts singing Material Girl and Nancy joins in. Steve rolls his eyes, turns the radio up, La Isla Bonita drowning them out.
What's that? A new chapter of Hellfire Radio? Read now on ao3!
Steve got shoved into a locker repeatedly for two months in middle school and was like, 'wow. This sucks. I'd never treat someone like this' and then learns to weaponized gossip.
Sweet jesus oh my god
Steve sees Eddie sleeping in his van one night and just assumes that he's homeless now.
He doesn't want to embarrass Eddie by calling attention to his situation in front of everyone but also like. Monsters with no faces exist in Hawkins and they can crawl through walls. He cannot handle another Barb situation so...
Steve tries to be subtle when he approaches Eddie at school.
He's being so subtle and so casual when he says without really saying that he saw Eddie in the woods and he understands Eddie's *gestures at him* whole thing and like.
If he wants to come over sometime, Steve wouldn't mind. He'd actually like it (because than he'd know Eddie wasn't demo-food) and also, ""Lots of, uh. Beds. In my house. That's more comfortable than your van, am I right?"
Steve leaves this conversation feeling pretty proud of himself for his good deed.
Eddie - who is neither homeless nor a drunk driver - is pretty sure Steve just invited him over to have sex.
a leap of faith !
New Eddie content? In this economy?? 😭

It’s not Wayne’s fault. He didn’t know what he was doing. He was just trying to help.
Eddie repeats this all to himself as he pulls into Steve Harrington’s driveway. He can’t believe the situation he’s put himself in.
He doesn’t think Steve can actually help, but Jeff insisted that he could and Jeff wouldn’t steer him into disaster on purpose. Steve agreed to keep it quiet, probably more for his own sake than Eddie’s, at the expense of some weed for his next party.
Three Dollar Bill
Written for week 1 of the @steddiemicrofic blog's third anniversary challenge.
Rated: T
Prompt: three, 333 words
Tags: Gay bar; bisexual Steve; awkward flirting
“I don't get it,” Steve mutters, fiddling with his empty beer. There's a girl standing at the bar. Curly hair, dark nail polish, skinny jeans hugging a cute little ass. Too bad she won't be into him. “Why is the club called Three Dollar Bill?”
I’ll always love Ronance + Steddie being paired together but, god, Buckingham + Steddie with platonic Stobin and platonic Hellcheer is just perfect. ‘Two sides of the same coin’. The freak and the prep. Mirror images of each other but the genders are switched. I love it.
