Handicapped Emotional Expression

If everytime you mention an idea

And it is constantly undermined

You will have emotionally stunted growth.

Lacking the confidence that what you say even matters

You silence yourself and all of your precious ideas

You stay silent and let others get there way

Even at your expense

You are addled in the most altruistic sense.

No longer desiring to give favors and

Lacking faith in others, you begin lowering your expectations

The standard for which they treat you also drops, like a bar too heavy to lift

Now you're carrying the weight of others

Not allowing your own expectations to rise with buoyancy

You drown trying to battle the current of their wishes and desires

Whilst being dragged into the depths by those sinking standards

You are not human, you are just a body, void of expressing any personal desire

Only attending to the emotions of others

By its nature, you will die for it, if it doesn't kill you first
