As he watched the girlās emotionless expression - and even heard the nonchalance in her voice as she spoke - he couldnāt help but be intrigued. Moreso than the others behind her, she seemed to be more branched off and here for her own reasons, and most likely had just assisted them. As she addressed him, her voice remained soft and almost bored-sounding, but he couldnāt help but smile.
Echo..? Then, she must be the sister of Zwei, who heād also seen around the castle plenty of times. Granted, this one seemed much less dangerous than her sister, and therefore more easy to talk to. He surveyed the group. She and the boy behind her seemed to be the only ones so far to register that he was here. He couldnāt help but laugh at the title. Well, it suited his role, didnāt it? A mere card, who worked all throughout the castleās gardens and all of Wonderland to paint the white roses red. It was a tedious task, but he found it easier to keep an eye on things in a place he can easily access.
He shook his head, clearing them of his thoughts and bowed slightly in friendliness to the group, emerald eyes on the girl cheerfully, chuckling. āAh, Iām sorry. I have not yet introduced myself. My name is.. Jack. Jack Vessalius. I am merely an insignificant card for Wonderland.ā
Was this man somehow acquainted with Zwei?
Echo could not help but wonder as she observed him cooly, blue eyes watching him. Of course, the younger would have a worry about her sister, considering that the twin always wandered and was always either at theĀ Castle or visiting the Dormouse or Duchess, often the two, leaving her alone with the company of her teddy bear.Ā It would make sense that the blue eyed twin would indeed do some wandering herself withĀ such time on her hands, and Wonderland was just peaceful.Ā The silver haired girl did not know much about the Card, but did indeed grow wary about him. Her skin crawled in his prescence, but there was not a way for herĀ to describe it. It was hard for her to not squirm being near him, but she kept up her usual front.
Ā āMister Jackā¦ā She bowed slightly in return in respect. āIs Mister Jack not too busy to be mingling with Echo?ā
Echo, in a way, felt like she was nothing but a nuisance in Jackās presence and was keeping him from his task. If she was, Echo had no mind in leaving him alone to finish it, but if he needed help, Echo would rush to his aide. That is, if Jack would allow her, but she didnāt say anything and just stood across from him, hugging her teddy bear tighter towards her.
It was hard for him to read the emotion on this girlās face. She seemed to be generally inexpressive, acting as if she were seemingly bored in his presence, her blue eyes not conveying any emotion. At least, to the unobservant eye. Jack could not consider himself experienced in the least at figuring out other people and being able to read them clearly, but like with the sister, he was betting this one had much more emotion than what she was letting show through. He found it interesting. Unlike so many of the others here, her emotion did not show on her face, and so he had to ponder how her words and feelings alike.Ā
At he words, he chuckled slightly, friendly blush on his face. āOh, you may call my Jack,ā He smiled, returning the gesture yet again. He reached out slightly to gently seize her hand, and pressed it to his lips in a the manner of a gentlemen greeting a lady. It was showing manners, after all, and as a tender to the gardens, it would be rude to be greeted by a lady and not greet her back in return with the correct treatment. āDonāt worry, I am not busy at the present time, was merely adding the finishing touches to one of the roses. It is very nice to meet you, Echo-chan~ā
What was it about him that made her skin crawl?
The girl didn't say anything, and merely watched him. A wallflower would know, being incredibly observant. His behavior, his attitude, and his aura. Everything about him, Echo felt increasingly more uncomfortable just to be in his presence. A part of her did not understand why; Jack had done nothing to harm her, nor did he look like some kind of crook, but just an ordinary Card. None of this made sense to her, but in a way ... it was harder for her to even make her existence known.
So what was it about this blonde man?
Heat instantly rised to her cheeks at the touch of his hand and lips on hers. Her silver hair shielded her face, although Echo was flustered by this action.
At the mention of her nickname, Echo immediately retorted back. "It's Echo." She added more emphasis to her name; no matter what, she never understood why so many Wonderlanders had insisted on caling her Echo-chan or Little Echo. It's just Echo.
After all, she was nothing more than an 'echo' of her sister, Zwei.
"It's a pleasure as well...Mister Jack..."
