Grafite’s face is a sea of flames as he puts his hands over the bucket and tries not to wince as the bucket burns a bit at the heated coffee and ceramic. “Sorry. Hell.” He’s wide awake now and his gloves are burning and flaking off like fried bacon.

This sure is happening. Brandy finds himself filing Grafite as slightly more potentially dangerous than expected as he grimaces and looks around. “How do you get it to stop?”

Grafite takes the cup, then blinks and looks at his hands.

“Oh no.” Heck heck heck. He tries to put the cup down but it slips through his hands in big fluid droplets. He suddenly looks as if he’s trying to scoop up a vicious sort of water. “Heck!” His gloves are melting

The cup turns to liquid before he can do anything, and Brandy’s left stunned and confused. “Hey- fuck.” Can buckets catch melting gloves? Time to find out. He rushes off to grab one and sets it under Grafite’s hands. “Don’t touch it, just keep your hands over it!“

“What you do? Why does he not approve?” It’s getting hard to stay awake. He finishes his coffee and sets it down to wait for it to take effect

“I keep dangerous things from hurting anyone- but he doesn’t agree with that.” He shrugs, finishing off his coffee. “… Do you want another cup?“

“You must be very brave.” He nods at the offer and yawns once more. The coffee’ll go in effect soon.

He looks a little shy at the compliment. “Thanks. I don’t get told that a lot.” Gathering both cups, he goes to refill them. “How long’ve you been here?”

Grafite opens his eyes woah he didnt know he closed them and hums. “About a day? Maybe? I don’t know. Your sun looks odd.” His gloves look a bit weird now. Like they’re shimmering, though it’s a bit hard to notice.

He holds out another mug. Something feels a little strange about Grafite now- his eyes drop to the other's hands as he remembers what he was told, and he stops.

"Hey, uh- Grafite? Do your hands always do that?"

“Mmhm.” He sighs wistfully and remembers how it happened. “It was like… Imagine falling into a vat of fridgid air while all of your cells feel as if they’re surrounded by pressure. Imagine gravity spinning around in a hundred different ways before it settles in one direction and pulls you towards an inevitable goal with a strength you aren’t used to. Kind of like that, and might I say, your planets gravity is stronger than mine. It’s very odd.”

“Sounds rough.” He grimaces, but he still stows away the information. “And they just- happen?”

The last comment has him pausing, though. “… Must be tiring. You doing alright?” Might as well treat him like a human until he has reason not to. Plus, Grafite doesn’t feel very threatening. It’s hard not to be a little concerned.

“Do you have power? What do you do for fun?” He smiles softly and takes another drink

“Uh.” He blinks at that, trying to find answers. “No magic. It’s not like it is in your world, here.”

… Fun? “I guess,… Spend time with my partner?”

“Are you two inseparable in your work?” His eyes are half lidded now, the coffee has yet to take effect.
