Suzuki Sonoko
I only remember her grandfather due to the kid heist but like......... I wonder if the Suzuki heads encourage their children to pick up some sort of traditional Japanese hobby or skill: playing music using a koto or a shakuhachi OR learning traditional dancing OR how to use a traditional Japanese weaponry.
Like what if she a read a manga where the heroine is a prodigy at using a katana but Sonoko is terrible at kendo but she remembers the heroine’s best friend who shot an arrow at an enemy with an arrow at the heroine’s back. She gets inspired to be that type of best friend, to always have her best friend’s back????
She learns archery and doesn’t give up due to that event in the manga and struggles to be able to comfortably use the bow and arrows.
She doesn’t brag about her skills because......although she has a very loud personality, she really isn’t as self centered as she can be portrayed.
There is a moment where Ran is fighting and someone is planning on shooting her back. Sonoko notices it and basically springs into action; grabs a bow and arrow and in a very smooth transition NOTICED BY EVERYONE AND THEY ARE SURPRISED shoots the sniper at a considerably far distance.
During the battle, Sonoko is running and shooting arrows like a fucking pro. She took ballet, grmnastics, and she kept up with this type of physical training because of the dangers her best friend runs into just to be safe.
At the end of the day, Sonoko remembers her younger self’s feeling and her drive to learn the bow and arrow although the skill may not come in handy. It was her determination to be that kind of best friend for Ran. Ran is surprised and Sonoko is being humble af cause she doesn’t think its that big of deal because Ran is worthy it.
Conan, Heiji, her boyfriend Makoto Kyogoku, Kogoro, and any other characters involve in this situation is amazed but also not surprised because they all knew how supportive Sonoko is to Ran, vice versa.
