[ SHAVED ICE ] - Served with a wide assortment of sweet, fruity syrups. Traditionally, it is served in bowls, but some are saying it makes for quite a refreshing sip when drank from a glass.
ETHEREAL BALL 2026
"I can't say I've ever had this before. It seems like it would be quite nice on a hot day as well." If a desert or drink like this existed back in Magvel, he wasn't aware of it. The general has had plenty of new experiences since coming to Fodlan though, and will hope that the trend continues for the length of his stay. He doesn't recognize the young woman next to him though. A part of him is unsure if she had just arrived or if he had been that focused on teaching his classes and going about what was his new normal routine that caused his attention to drift elsewhere. Perhaps they would not remain strangers after this.
"Pardon my manners. I am Seth of Renais. It's lovely to make your acquaintance." He gives a polite bow and kindly offers one of his lilies to her. "I hope you've been enjoying your evening so far."
[ RENAIS ] - A choreographed dance from rural Renais. Two rows of partners stand opposite of each other, dancing as they move closer and away from each other like waves upon a shore.
ETHEREAL BALL 2026
"Forde, always good to see you." He wasn't expecting to have the other as a dance partner this evening though he has to admit that it is a nice change from the training and fighting they'd used to alongside each other before and during the war. "I hope you're having a good evening so far."
While he cannot recall the last time he'd done this dance, it seems it's a matter of muscle memory as he and Forde circle around one another, part, and then close the space between them again. If he'd had a moment to observe some of the other dances, he's sure he would have gotten a hang of those as well but he's glad Forde approached him for this one.
As the song concludes and they return to their starting positions, Seth gives a bow. It's small, not as deep as what he would give royalty but it's polite enough. He meets the other's gaze with smile once he's straightened his back again, and holds one of his lilies out in offering. "That was nice. We'll have to take some time to go riding soon."

ethereal ball 2026 -- seth & eirika
Eirika turns toward her husband as he brushes a lock of azure behind her ear. She leans into the lingering warmth of his palm before taking his hand in hers. It’s not very often that the two get a chance to dance. There was always one thing or another drawing their attention, leaving little time for leisure, but here and now they have this chance.
”Always.” She inclines her head and smiles then lets him take the lead, whisking them across the dance floor. The vibrant red of her dress trails after them in slow motion.
Her other hand finds the curve of his shoulder as she settles into the movement. “I’m glad that we took the time to practice. It’s been too long since we’ve attended an event like this.” Yet it’s not quite like any event they’ve attended either. Here they are simply Seth and Eirika, husband and wife, not knight and queen.
And as they dance, Seth twirls her away from her worries that have weighed on her the past few months. Right now, she only wishes to think of him.
He could feel his heart skip a beat or two as she took a moment to lean into his palm. It was a small and simple gesture, but still enough to cause a smile to form as he stares back at her with the same fondness he's felt for her since the moment they met.
"I enjoyed it. It was a nice change from our daily routine." Not that there was anything wrong with their routine. The fact of the matter was that he was content to do anything with her. Literally anything. They could sit next to each other in silence for all he cared and it would hardly matter so long as they were together.
"If I recall, the most recent event might have been our wedding? Your memory may be better than mine." He's sure there may have been more events in between that day two years ago and this current moment. They just don't stand out in his mind as much as their wedding had. At least not right now. Not while they're dancing and he's leading her around the ballroom with precise steps.
[ SWEET BUN TRIO ] - Three delicious, bite-sized buns from Faerghus. The first bun is filled with sweet cream and topped with icing and a candied cherry. The second is a sweet roll filled with almonds, pecans, and dried cranberries and glazed with honey. The third is a bun sliced in half, filled with almond paste and whipped cream, dusted with powdered sugar on top.
Well, it is rather awkward to stand near Eirika's husband without uttering a word. There are also other reasons why Lyon feels this way. It is hardly Seth's fault; Lyon still needs time to work through his emotions, but that is neither here nor there.
The prince of Grado clears his throat before turning towards the other man. "Would you like one, General?" He offers buns on a napkin. "They are rather good."
ETHEREAL BALL 2026 -- first half
Seth turns his head as Lyon clears his throat and announces his presence next to him. This was his first encounter with the other since he'd arrived and while he still held a small amount of skepticism lingering from the war and the choices that had been made, Seth believed Ephraim when he'd told him that Lyon was no longer under Fomortiis's control. So, in an attempt to keep things friendly, the general accepted the bun topped with icing and the cherry.
"Thank you, Prince Lyon." He nods, taking a bite and raising a hand to wipe some of the icing off the corner of his mouth. It was good, and it wasn't entirely often that Seth let himself indulge in sweets though for the occasion, he would allow himself to relax. Even if it was just a little bit. "My apologies that we are only greeting each other now. I've been busy with my classes, and I trust it has been the same for you, but I've heard from the twins that you've been well. I'm glad." Genuinely, he means that.
"Before I forget, it's traditional to exchange flowers at these sorts of events here, is it not?" Seth reaches for his bouquet to hold out one of his yellow lilies to Lyon. "I would like you to have this. As a symbol of good faith."
with every step together
ethereal ball 2026 -- seth & eirika
There's a soft smile forming on Seth's face as he takes in the sight of his beloved and comes to the conclusion that there is not anything she can do to make herself more perfect than she already looks. Perhaps he's biased (he definitely is) but his heart flutters and that light, warm feeling in his chest has only grown since the day of their marriage two years ago. Red was a good color on her, it always was.
Actually there was one little thing he could think of to improve her look... Just a little bit... With a delicate touch, Seth tucks some loose strands of azure hair behind her ear to replace them with one of the lilies from his bouquet. He then offers her his hand and as the music starts, he gives her a bow. It's polite, short, and he knows he hardly needs address her with such formalities at this particular event but he does anyways. If only to show her he was always trying to be respectful. "May I have this dance?"
@azurelunae
The general is no stranger to formal events like this one, having attended many back home as representation of Renais's military as well as an advisor to the royal family. While Seth recognizes there is still a need to be on his best behavior, he is still grateful he gets to enjoy the evening without the pressure of trying to please a court. With his wife's arm intertwined with his own, he accepts the bouquet of yellow lilies and heads inside.
Seth is attending the ball with his lovely wife, Eirika, and will often be found near her and Ephraim (and in turn, Lyon as well).

bright red like warning lights (or blood)
a heartfelt reunion after so much time spent apart.
“ Perhaps, ” Moonstone muses, mulling over Seth’s words as though they were the most amusing thing in the world. Perhaps they’d had more pressing issues (because the dead do not usually rise); but that supposed Valter had died at all. (It could’ve just been a poor attempt at killing him to begin with.)
(But death wasn’t really in Valter’s playbook—not for himself, at the very least. If he kept the conversation here for too long, he’d probably bite a bit harder than he’d intended when the encounter first began. Better, then, to let that go for now.)
Valter hums as the general continues, remarking on some official business Ephraim had requested him for—interesting that that would lead the other so far, but that was information for another time, he supposed—and then: Seth remarks that he would be teaching here. As a professor.
What a long-term position for something that should probably be so short. “ Is that so? ” (His smile twists, growing wilder with glee.) “ So then, we’ll be seeing more of each other—won’t we, General? ”
(It is a boldness that possesses him then, allowing the Moonstone to tread ground until he is standing right in front of the other, eyes alight with their token ill intent.) There is no pause in his speech as he continues, “ I trust you’ll prove interesting again? ”
Seth's expression has hardly changed since their conversation began, and he reminds himself that he needs to be careful with his words. He's never been one to lie, and he values honesty but he hardly thinks Valter deserves that. Above all, his priority is Eirika's safety, and he knows his wife values his as well, but he'd rather risk his life for her than the reverse.
Perhaps even mentioning his new teaching position was too much, but the words had already left his lips and there was no point in dwelling on them now. "I hope that we don't but I suppose it may unavoidable now. If your patterns are similar to what they once were, should I expect to see you stalking the halls?" He can only hope the answer is no but nothing was that simple. The smile the other gives is as off putting as ever as is the look in his eyes, and then Valter's feet carry him even closer and Seth can only think to take a step backwards in response.
The training lance is raised in Valter's direction again, this time the blunt spearhead is pointed at the other's neck in a small attempt to deter him from invading his space again. "I guess it depends on what you deem interesting now. Do want to fight me or will you be content with encounters similar to this one?" It was difficult to determine whether or not blood would be drawn but Seth was trying to steel himself.
MAKING THIS HOUSE A HOME
"Oh that I have no doubt, but I rather enjoy watching you go around lifting heavy objects." The househusband life would not be for Seth but she can enjoy the moments when they arise. More than that, she wishes to enjoy this slice of domestic life for however long they will have it.
As long as they are together. She nods in agreement and leans down to kiss him, azure hair falling in a curtain around them. Soft, slow, with a desire to make this moment last as long as possible. She breathes deep through her nose, taking in the scent of his cologne, and then finally pulls away.
She supposes it is about time that they get to work or she's likely to find excuses to lay here all day with him.
"Oh? How nice of him." Eirika sits up and offers Seth her hands to sit up with her. "We can have a nice meal after we unpack. Are you ready?"
"I'm sure you do," Seth winks and can't help the small smile that tugs at the corners of his lips. A part of him was teasing her. He knew she stared sometimes, and he didn't mind it. He was guilty of it himself. Before they'd gotten together and before the war, she was mesmerizing, and now that she was his wife, all the more so.
With a featherlight touch, the general trails his hands down her back and settles on her hips as she leans down to kiss him. It's slow and he while he makes no effort to deepen it, Seth happily returns it as he stretches contently underneath her. He almost doesn't want to let her up but they have work to do and the rest of their home wasn't going to unpack itself.
He takes her hand and allows her to give his arm a gentle tug as he sits up and then swings his legs over the side of the bed. "As ready as I'll ever be. Maybe we could recruit your brother for some assistance for some of the heavier pieces of furniture."
One of his hands rubs at his shoulder in a small attempt to keep his muscles from tensing up. "Where would you like to start? We have plenty of boxes in the living room."

It takes Seth picking up the stick for Ephraim to remember why they are here. He casts his eyes around for one for himself. But even as he does, he feels as if the conversation has put him out of the mood for stick sword fights.
"It's where he belongs. I know he still loves his country, and ruling together is what we always spoke of."
He picks up a stick. It has a good weight to it and easily brushes the grass as he swishes it back and forth, but his heart doesn't appear to be in it.
Ephraim is silent before he speaks. "I never thought I would see him again."
How many nights had he laid awake, running from his nightmares? Seth had often been there too. He knew. But he did not know the images that haunted him. Siegmund running through Lyon, blood spilling into his hands, the life draining from his best friend's features. He still has not touched Siegmund since that day.
When Ephraim turns back toward Seth, it's with a carefully composed expression. "I did not drag you out here to talk your ear off."
He knows how important Lyon is to him, and Seth has yet to encounter the Grado prince yet but if all is as Ephraim says, and the Demon King's hold on him is broken, he doesn't imagine his reaction would be completely negative or cold. On the other hand, as much as he trusts Ephraim, perhaps he would still harbor some suspicions. It was engrained in him to protect, and to observe.
"I'm glad you were able to reunite with him."
Seth swings his own stick experimentally through the air in front of him. At the moment, he is not focused on his form or his stance and then after a few more seconds, he boldly takes a swing at Ephraim's as if to goad him. Just a little bit. Whether it would work to drag his mind away from the events that were not able to be changed, he hardly knew but it was still worth a shot.
"I hardly mind it. I was willingly dragged. I just wish you wouldn't be so hard on yourself. The future is what's important now, isn't it?"

"Not all think as you do." Ephraim continues to walk alongside him. "I appreciate your words, but you are wrong about your opinion not mattering. You fought in that war the same as me and it was your homeland ravaged as well. Were it not for you, Eirika and I would have never reclaimed Renais."
He sighs. "Lyon will always be my friend, but as king I must consider beyond my personal feelings. His regrets matter little in the face of the havoc wrecked across Magvel, especially when he hides here while Magvel rebuilds. In an ideal world I would have him return home, where he belongs, but... that is not my choice to make and we do not live in an ideal world." Because in an ideal world, none of this ever happened.
He feels his words are simply spilling freely now, pent up after too long of holding them in. When he first traveled to the academy, he never imagined that he would find Lyon alive. His death is something he had struggled to come to terms with for years.
"Not all have known you as long as I have. I meant that in regards to who choose to keep as friends. I trust you'll pick good people to spend your time with but I appreciate the amount of faith the both of you placed in me and continue to do so now."
Seth nods, turning his head towards the ground when he spies a stick leaning against one of the trees off the forest's beaten path. He almost forgot that the competition was why they were here. It looked like the stick had been abandoned, likely in favor of another, but Seth can't imagine why. It was a good length, just barely shorter than the training swords, and easy to hold. This is the one he's choosing for their inevitable duel.
"I can hardly speak for Lyon, but perhaps he will try to return home when he feels ready." As slow as the reconstruction efforts were, the relationships between Grado and the other countries of Magvel were healing just as slowly. It wouldn't happen overnight, Seth knew, but felt as though the steps forward towards progress greatly outweighed the setbacks.
the quiet wait for first light
Even in a place as bustling as the town of Garreg Mach, there can be found little secrets tucked away in forgotten alleys and abandoned streets. Among such secrets is a two-storey manor not far from the central square, average in all ways except for the fact that it's stood empty for who-knows-how-long. Lacy drapes still frame the dusty, vacant eyes of windows, and the stone pots sitting along the porch hold the dried, dead remnants of what had once been flowers, suggesting that the house has never been fully relinquished to another owner. Although it's gone unnoticed for quite some time now, rumors about hauntings and paranormal activity in this house have begun to circulate among the students of the Officers Academy. It's said that this house - colloquially called the Lily Bolden House, after its last owner - contains the vengeful spirits of the Bolden family murdered by one of their own, and that they kill all those who dare set foot inside. So, naturally, as confident as you are in your own abilities to escape certain death, you'd want to see this for yourself, right? [Grants Authority +1] (starter for @silvereques)
It was rare to find a moment of quiet, where it was not necessarily peace but rather stillness - Sigurd found, in his time, that these moments occurred in the center of highest activity, or of panic, that one could only truly center themselves and find that moment surrounded by the water's great ripples around them.
There was such panic about this house in particular, about its dark shutters and yellowing lace like coy lashes for the wind to flutter, about the way its door, even closed, had felt like a maw into a darkness that would swallow a man whole, and into madness. The people of the town had complained about it so loudly, and so frequently, that Sigurd had half expected there to be an entire platoon of invading forces contained within its two-storey family abode.
And yet, when they arrived, there was only the uncanny stillness, such that even Sigurd himself felt himself moving that touch slower until he settled upon a low chair for sentinel.
The young man with him, though similarly prepared, seemed to have no trouble in adapting to that quiet, that stillness, and Sigurd smiled at him, friendly and kind.
"I don't believe we've met. But I suspect that the Archbishop must have thought the both of us suited for this mission, such as it is." He waved a hand, as though in demonstration of the emptiness that surrounded them, the soft destruction of a house no longer in use. "I am Sigurd, of Chalphy. Well met."
Regardless as to whether or not this house was truly haunted, Seth felt as though he needed to see it in order to actually put stock in the rumors surrounding it. He's seen zombies, floating eyes, demon dogs, giant spiders, and walking skeletons. There were no signs of such monsters in the house, and it appeared as though it had long since been abandoned after the murders had taken place.
Seth approaches the house with caution, taking the time he needs to circle the property first to observe the outside of the home first before they investigate the inside. The wood creeks with the gentle breeze, he can see water damage from the rainy seasons, and peeling paint. Some of the windows are broken, the foliage was overgrown, ivy crept up the sides of the house. Apart from the seemingly vengeful spirits, if the townspeople complained about the appearance of the house, he wouldn't blame them.
When he follows the other man through the doorway, Seth returns the smile. His is smaller but equally warm and rather relaxed despite the potential danger they were walking into. "That must be the case. I have more experience fighting monsters so I fear whatever knowledge I already possess may not be sufficient if the rumors of spirits do end up being true."
He holds out his hand to the other man to shake in friendly greeting before walking past to investigate the main living room on the first floor. "It's good to meet you as well, Sigurd. My name is Seth of Renais."
surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me
The expedition had been planned some time in advance; and, quite conveniently, it had positioned itself to be not too long after the arrival of the Silver Knight (and, as Valter had been able to observe, the princess of Renais with him). He would call their co-appearance a coincidence, but he was smarter than that—Seth had said it himself. No wonder Ephraim asked him here.
—which, well! That had been quite the fact to discover! Ephraim had wandered his way to Garreg Mach, and, so it seemed, his dear sister had sought to take after him—with, of course, none other than one of her greatest knights. It leaves the Moonstone to wonder who remained in Renais to take charge in their stead, but that was a question infinitely less interesting than the resulting situation:
Eirika was here; and she’d brought along a friend.
A friend who, by all means, didn’t really interest him in the slightest; but the man had taken his spear to the shoulder and yet remained standing—even to war’s end and after!—and that alone was moderately impressive. Silver Knight was still uninteresting; but he could’ve been far more boring.
Regardless: Eirika was on the premises, and that opened up a whole plethora of opportunities to be a proper thorn in his free time. (The only issue was that he could not be too overt; his position lay in his ‘good’ nature, and too strong of an evidence against him could override the value of his strength.) He needed to be smart about how he chose to proceed.
So, Valter had examined the circumstances, and, well aware of the volatility of Fódlan’s nature, chose to bide his time until the monastery had emptied itself; so came the expedition, taking with it many of the establishment’s finest knights, professors, and clergyfolk—or, simply put, most of the people who might make a fuss of his approaching the princess. It was as good a cover as any, letting him roam ghosted halls without the otherwise ever-present eyes; and allowing him to approach the Knight off-guard, the princess at his side in company.
“ But would I ever have any purpose to lie? ”
In response to his civil duty—because, in technicality, that was the truth. (He was a knight of Seiros, and he had taken upon himself all the roles and responsibilities of the office—including its oath to the people.) Lips twist upwards into a smile: “ Honestly, I’m hurt, but since I’m so kind—you were just looking for me, yes? ”
A grand bow is thus taken—appreciation for an applause that he knew he would never receive—and at the trough, head tilts upwards to look the two straight ahead:
“ Here I am. ” The one and only; in the flesh.
(He would choose, also, to tuck away the moniker of ‘husband’—a mockery to be made some other time, Moonstone thinks.)
hi there, @azurelunae , @silvereques !!
He can feel his blood run cold when he (unfortunately) hears the familiar voice behind them. All of a sudden, and seemingly out of thin air, that vile man appears and the first thing Seth thinks to do is take his arm off from around Eirika's shoulders in order to position her behind him. Had he one of his weapons on his person, he would have reached for that as well but in the moment he is currently empty handed. Perhaps it's for the best. At the very least it discourages violence but the moment Valter raises a hand or steps closer, Seth cannot guarantee that he would remain civil.
"I can think of plenty of reasons. You never struck me as an honorable person." What Valter's life had been like before he became one of Grado's general's, Seth didn't know. He, previously, could have been one of the nicest people anyone could have met but he couldn't bring himself to care or forget his evil intentions during the war.
Seth does not close the distance between himself and Valter, and reaches back towards Eirika with his right arm to discourage her from stepping forward. As capable as she is at protecting herself, Seth would still rather not watch her get hurt. His eyes narrow, and he shakes his head. "Actually, we weren't. I was talking about how we should avoid you at all costs."
The smile and bow from Valter makes him uneasy, and he knew better than to let his guard down, so he keeps his gaze locked on the other man to analyze his body language and movements while holding onto Eirika's arm to keep her from passing in front of him. "Leave us."
